    When everyone in the state, no the country, has the constitutional right to be armed, if a person is on a watch patrol for criminals yes they are likely to be armed.
    My question about the situation is: If Martin was sitting on Zimmerman’s chest was the gun already in Zimmerman’s hand or how was it holstered so that Zimmerman could draw and fire it with Martin sitting on his chest banging Zimmerman’s head on the sidewalk?
    Did Zimmerman have the 9mm in a shoulder setup or waist setup that would require him to reach around past Martin’s thigh to draw it and shoot Martin in the chest while Martin was sitting on Zimmerman’s chest or what?
    I’m having trouble picturing this.

  5. Florida was one of the first states to have widespread concealed carry and it looks like it was lifesaving for Zimmerman. Curious how no charges have been laid if this was a case of some racist redneck bent on maintaining appropriate melanin levels in his community.
    Rural Florida is a place where I feel far safer than in Canada as I know probably the majority of people around me are armed, and don’t have any qualms about blowing away criminals, regardless of what color they happen to be. The only people that don’t like this type of environment are criminals.
    Wonder if “thanks for blowing away Trayvon” has been copyrighted?

  7. I’m no medical profesional but life experience has bestowed some insight into the effects of trauma such as getting yer melon slamed into a side walk. Yeah emphasis on the term melon….
    1) Concushion, bleeding in/on the brain….life threatening.
    2) The “whiplash” effect of the brain bouncing about in the skull….not good for future brain function.
    3) the minor one, of the whiplash effect of such a shock force on the inner ear(s). From personal experience, sudden episodes of loss of balance for a period for of three weeks to a month. It is not a Toyota experience to suddenly, without warning have yer world go sideways. It is not empowering to always have to have an adult close by to “grab him”.

  8. Well, I actually -am- a medical professional, in neuro-rehab to boot, and Sasquatch’s points are extremely cogent.
    Hockey and football players and etc get diffuse brain injuries from getting their heads smacked with helmets on. No helmet, head hits pavement, its double-plus ungood.
    The long term conditions likely to result are liable to make people barf if described, so I’ll resist the temptation. Suffice it to say that shooting a guy for bashing somebody’s head on the pavement is -not- cruel and unusual punishment. Lenient justice more like.
    Which brings up an interesting point. Where have all the helmet-Nazis suddenly run off to? Little innocent Traaaaaayvon shows up and all the head injury hand wringers scatter like roaches when the kitchen light goes on.

  12. Why didn’t Trayvon back down? How could he possibly feel so threatened that he had to attack Zimmerman, and then, once Zimmerman was down and no longer a threat to him, bash his head on the ground. That does not sound like self-defense by Trayvon, it sounds like attempted homicide by Trayvon.

    Maybe Zimmerman a registered Democrat was a Hispanic enforcer making sure little Tyrone didn’t stray too far from the Liberal plantation?
    They do like to keep their slaves on the vote farm ghetto’s as much as possible.
    The Socialist Nazi’s did recruit other “undesirables” to bully and guard the Jews in concentration camps. So this is not a new idea, especially when we learn Zimmerman’s political affiliation with THE gun confiscators, yet he himself carries like an enforcer.

    Look, my gut, right off the bat agreed with you, but this just didn’t smell right and all the political Punch & Judy’s who have added this to their political puppet shows have just made it more difficult to see things clearly.
    I’m afraid that this could have happened to any teenaged kid wearing a hoody and pants below his crack, in rainy weather when viewed through the eyes of a wannabee authoritarian carrying a weapon. (And you can carry a weapon all you want for self defence; you just shouldn’t be looking to use it.)
