2. Amazing quality of imagery! … Just thinking, when that remarkable travelogue was made, my late grandparents were 30-somethings. My late parents were barely into puberty and didn’t even know each other yet.
Here’s an equally remarkable 1 minute B&W 1896 movie of London streets. You even see a few new-fangled automobiles among the horse-drawn buses, wagons and cabs. Really remarkably clean streets, considering the number of horses. Just think-Queen Victoria reigned when this movie was made!
Going further back, here’s a musician playing on a harp a 3,400 year old song from ancient Syria, the oldest complete written piece of music known to exist.

3. Mark Levin offers $50,000 to Obama Superpac………..for a debate with the annointed one! See link at Daily Caller.Odds that the offer will be accepted? God,I’d love to see that.

4. New polls out today have Obama’s numbers going down again. They should really keep pushing this contraception thing. It’s working really well.

5. ANOTHER Obama a-p-o-l-o-g-y?
I must say he’s getting good at it.
He’s not only the food-stamp president …..he’s the KNEE-PAD president.
Lets see “Hollyweed” make a film about this, once he’s retired….

6. bdoggins at 10:42: is this not the provision in the Fisheries Act that allowed Govt. Bureaucrats to seize land from persons who had the bad luck, during high water, to have fish swim up their drainage ditches? Seem to recall a couple of travesties out here in the Left Coast in years past.

7. A real election scandal in Scarborough. I wonder if Bob Rae will get on it.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2012/03/13/voting-scarborough.html

Marlene Gallyot, a federal Conservative candidate who lost to the NDP’s Rathika Sitsabaiesan, has complained to Elections Canada, alleging ineligible voters “by the dozens” turned up on voting day and filed ballots illegally.
“They came with a Future Shop bill,” she told CBC News. “They came in with a Canadian Tire bill. They were coming in without proper identification.”
Gallyot alleges that despite lacking the required ID, voters were still allowed to cast their ballots.
She also said scrutineers — party volunteers who oversee voting on behalf of candidates — were approaching voters at polling stations, speaking to them in Tamil and coaching them on who to vote for. Gallyot overheard such coaching inside and outside a polling station she was allowed to visit as an “observer,” she said.

“Even if they didn’t have ID, our instructions were to register them. Our job was not to turn anyone away. So we’d register them and get them to vouch that they are who they say they are. They have to take an oath to say that.”
Namu Ponnambalam ran as a candidate in a 2010 municipal election in Scarborough. He showed CBC News a suitcase of documents outlining 1,400 of the 3,500 names added to the municipal voters list on voting day.
Many of the names listed are Tamil. CBC confirmed that many of the addresses used on the voting forms do not exist.

8.
They assume that Americans will abide by the conventions of civilized warfare, and not succumb to irrational rage and murder civilians; at the same time, however, they are sanguine about Afghans calling for blood and murdering civilians over a few burned copies of the Qur’an, because they apparently think that that’s just the way those people are going to act.
The incompetent response to these stupid Afghans and the gutless Obama BS may lead to a general Mutiny. Obama had better give his head a shake. Just saying what everyone is thinking!

As gunney99 said. If it always had fish it will be protected. If in the case of a Sask. farmer whose fields flooded because a river overflowed and he was fined for pumping water off his land because there might be fish in it then DFO should give their heads a shake and mind their own business. Just another small step towards sanity. Also , why is headquarters of DFO in Ottawa and just what do they do there except shuffle paper ?Someone must have asked Harper that. Slowly but surely we are inching our way back to common sense.

“There’s a general view out there that with private creditors having agreed their 50pc haircut, the “Greek problem” has been solved, at least for now. Unfortunately, it has not.”
“As a consequence, we continue to expect further debt restructuring in Greece at a later stage and see the probability of Greece leaving the euro area at around 50%.
Actually, I’d put the chances at way above 50pc. The only question is when.”

“In a speech lamenting the vicious tone of the attack ads used against him, former Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff on Tuesday told a law school audience that his party did the same thing to Stephen Harper, unfairly tarring him as a dangerously right-wing, American-style political extremist, bent on undoing cherished Canadian values.
“We attempted to deny him standing, and now he has taken his revenge. That is where we are,” Mr. Ignatieff said at York University’s Osgoode Hall. Mr. Harper “seized the centre and moved it 10 degrees to the right and now we have to seize it back.”

13. leadnow, the organization behind the 31,000+ bogus complaints is e-mailing a letter to the people who filled out their contact form, that supports the cbc and is against the upcoming cuts.
Thee is a link in the letter takes you to the reimagine cbc website and a handy form that will send your voice of support to your MP.
A quick recap.
Leftie leadnow starts the bogus complaint petition.
The cbc links to this petition, increasing leadnow’s members and donations
The opposition uses the petition to enrage Canadians against the Conservatives.
cbc uses this outrage to demonize the Conservatives.
Leadnow starts a letter writing campaign to criticize the cuts to the cbc by the Conservatives.
—————–
That just ain’t right. I’m loath to shout conspiracy, but this does look like one.

14. This is the main part of the letter that leadnow is sending out.
———
We have learned that the Conservative’s proposed budget targets the CBC for severe cuts. The cuts, which could be the equivalent of most of the cost of producing CBC radio, will damage our news and culture, while cutting local coverage in the countless places where the CBC is the main media presence.
The CBC keeps Canada connected. Like the railroads that knit our country together, the CBC provides a common thread for all Canadians living across our massive and diverse country. We can build on this tradition for a new era.
This budget is a moment of crisis for Canadian public media. Thousands of Canadians, led by Friends of Canadian Broadcasting, have already spoken out to support fair treatment in the budget, and now it’s time for us to add our voices to their call. If we work together in one last push, we can show this government that the political cost of targeting the CBC is just too high.
Click here to send a message to Finance Minister Jim Flaherty and key Conservative MPs that you want them to keep Canada connected, not make severe cuts to the CBC:

“The Cultural Revolution may have ended 36 years ago with the death of Chairman Mao, but it continues to cast a long shadow on modern Chinese politics.”
“For today’s generation of leaders, it was the moment when the early optimism of the Chinese Communist party died, and cynicism took hold, as comrades who fought side by side in the “Liberation” suddenly turned on each other.
In the frenzy of his final years, no one was safe from Chairman Mao.
He attacked his own government, unleashing the Red Guards, mostly in their teens and twenties, to hound out millions of “counter-revolutionaries”, inside and outside the party, and violently persecute them.
Even Deng Xiaoping, the leader who subsequently set China on the path to prosperity, was sent for “re-education” three times, eventually ending up in an engine factory. Wen Jiabao’s family of teachers, intellectuals and artists, also suffered.”

16. Someone needs to do a raid on liberal/ndp websites with the handle “Pierre Poutine”.

17. This is why consensus media is now so quiet on robopuff:
Print edition TO Sun , today, Mark Dunn, pg 28 (of course) paragraph 6
“EC on Monday confirmed a QMI Agency investigation that NDP and Liberal sympathisers orchestrated a campaign to fool Canadians into believing the Conservatives used fake phone calls to win a majority”

18. Former U.S. vice-president Dick Cheney has cancelled a Toronto speaking engagement because Canada he says is too dangerous. While Cheney was speaking at a private club in Vancouver in September, violent protests broke out and Vancouver police in riot gear had to disperse the demonstrators . This left Cheney holed up in the building for seven hours.

19. This is on Fox News Online. The NAACP, that sanctimonious group-of-victims of ‘African Americans’ (I detest that term) in Congress have gone to that other sanctimonious group, the UN, to complain to its Human Rights Council about the US asking for voter ID at elections.
“The United Nations Human Rights Council is investigating the issue of American election laws at its gathering on minority rights in Geneva, Switzerland.. This, despite the fact that some members of the council have only in the past several years allowed women to vote, and one member, Saudi Arabia, still bars women from the voting booth completely.
Officials from the NAACP are presenting their case against U.S. voter ID laws, arguing to the international diplomats that the requirements disenfranchise voters and suppress the minority vote.”
Now, apart from the hypocrisy, what business is it of the UN to investigate the internal legal infrastructure of democracy within the US?
The NAACP provides two examples of what they claim will be discrimination.
“The civil rights group says one, Kemba Smith Pradia, was convicted of a drug-related offense and is concerned that if she moves back to Virginia from the Midwest, state law will block her voting because of her record, even though she was granted clemency by President Bill Clinton.”
Now, how does a voter ID with photo function to block her vote? After all, isn’t her name on the registration list? Wouldn’t her name alone, on that official list, enable her to vote? Or, is she planning to use someone else’s name, without a photo, and vote in that way?
And another example.
“A second American, Austin Alex, is a Texas Christian University student. The NAACP says he is worried that he will be barred from voting because he only holds an out-of-state driver’s license and a non-government student ID, not a Texas issued photo ID.”
But if he’s not a resident of Texas, then, he can’t vote anyway – photo or not. Is he trying to use someone else’s non-photo ID?
I don’t get it.

20. O’s nervous & itchy show.
““Somebody got itchy — that’s all I’ve got to say. Somebody got itchy.”
…-
“In a sign of the nervousness surrounding the trip, a sergeant major abruptly told the Marines gathered to hear Mr. Panetta in a tent at Camp Leatherneck to get up, place their M-16 and M-4 automatic rifles and 9-millimeter pistols outside, and return unarmed. The sergeant major, Brandon Hall, told reporters that he was acting on orders.
“All I know is I was told to get the weapons out,” he said. Asked why, he replied: “Somebody got itchy — that’s all I’ve got to say. Somebody got itchy. We just adjust.”
Normally, American forces in Afghanistan keep their weapons when the defense secretary visits and speaks to them. The Afghans in the tent had not been armed to begin with, as is typical.
Later, American officials said that the top military official in Helmand, Maj. Gen. Mark Gurganus, had decided on Tuesday that no one would be armed while Mr. Panetta spoke, but that word had not reached those in charge in the tent until shortly before Mr. Panetta was due to arrive.”

“Something happened in the last 24 hours that reveals the mindset of the regime. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta visited Afghanistan. And, as has been done repeatedly over the course of this war, he met with some troops.”
