    For the same reason they protest against the oilsands while ignoring the burning of coal which spews more than 10 times the pollution of the oilsands. These people are not the sharpest crayons in the box. If they were intelligent they would have jobs and wouldn’t be living in their mom’s basement playing video games when they weren’t out ‘protesting’ or hanging out at the latte shops.

    Save the birds = no wind farms (bird/bat bloody meat grinders). I like birds and bats and I hate the wind farm ‘four and twenty blackbirds/bat/eagle/geese/finch etc pie in the sky’ energy monstrosities -‘two birds with one stone’; if you get my ‘drift’.

  23. Btw, I liked the story so much that I forwarded the link to a bird watching neighbor, in hopes that the local Audobon group will go after Manitoba Hydro. Hydro is buying subsidized electricity from a wind farm built right on the edge of the Red River migratory flyway, the flyway for most of the migratory song birds; ducks; and geese in this Province.

  27. Syncrude was fined $3,000,000 despite having bird deterrents in place that failed. Windmills only use dumb luck as a deterrent and are fined nothing despite killed hundreds of thousand more birds. Do we care about birds or don’t we? The responsible party is fined and the irresponsible gets a pass.

  28. I’m sure glad there’s no wind farms in our area – today I watched well over a thousand geese fly over our place. A “bird blender” would have made a heck of a mess!

  29. 15 huge bird shredders were just installed here, right beside a Ducks Unlimited reserve and smack in the middle of one of the largest migratory waterfowl lanes…once the blades start turning, they’ll need bulldozers to clear the carcasses away…but the NDP gov’t will be able to say “they were killed in a green manner”

    Jails/prisons are a recent developement.
    They were orginally for detaining accused until they were tried. The concept of incarcerating for a period is probably less than a millenium.
    Prior to that exile, flogging, mutilation and capital punishment were the options….primarilly capital punishment.
    This concept goes way way back at least to neolithic times probably earlier….a concept to control threats to the safety and peace of the collective. Even the comparatively lawless vikings exiled murderers…..probably because they frequently couldn’t catch them.
    This was not so much meant as a deterent, but the simple means to eliminate a problem….with an element of revenge….
