Um..uh Mammy my man…that’d demoliate my chances. Kin ya do me a solid ‘n hold off’n ’til Nov 7th….

In the next 60 days Obama’s presidential career will finally meet that concrete wall of reality. He will either fail or survive. Trouble is, he might take many innocent people with him if he fails
So far, the most hyped-up and unqualified president in US history has shown no capacity at all to act, in the face of a do-or-die challenge. This is the ultimate test of character, the one that John F. Kennedy met well enough in the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. This is the test that Jimmy Carter failed so miserably that Ronald Reagan beat him handily in the following election. This is the same test of reality that every single Democratic Administration has tried to avoid; it’s the reason why Bill Clinton refused to do anything about Osama Bin Laden when he had four separate chances to take him out.

  1. I would not be surprised if this goes down sooner than April 1st. The Israeli media seem to be reflecting this with constant coverage of all the speculation about readiness, consequences, U.S. attitudes etc. The feast of Purim which comes up in about a week’s time (at the full moon) is often mentioned as an appropriate time by Israeli internet bloggers, which may at least reflect some kind of thinking within the government, or maybe not. There is then the major Passover observance a month later, which would tend to force a decision to one side or the other since it’s unlikely that Israel would act then (the holiday will overlap Easter this year).
The situation in Syria complicates things further. Israel knows that whatever response Iran chooses to attempt will involve surrogates such as Hezbollah and Hamas. Both are affected by the unrest in Syria and this may factor into their planning.
Netanyahu is due to visit Washington on the 5th (next Monday). So it’s unlikely that a strike would take place then. But one could speculate that a final decision might be made then, almost going over Obama’s head with more sympathetic elements of the administration and the top military brass. If there’s a big-time Obama sulk and a disconnect with Netanyahu, my core hunch is that Obama himself may be inviting covert action against a prime Islamic target located in America, and I will let you guess who that might be. (clue, address 1600 P__ A___.) Sounds extreme? We shall see — stay prepared, this could be the opening act of a very significant and dramatic series of events. While Iran may be containable, the region has become so volatile, and unknown forces are now interfering in so many situations, that almost any response could have unforeseen consequences (including doing nothing).

  2. Nuclear chicken is not the kind of April Fool’s game you’d like to play…
I believe the American phrase is ‘pussy’…an interesting juxtaposition with that virtue known as ‘courage’.

  4. The West as a whole cannot be rid of this moron fast enough. Sidekicks Pelosi and Reid are complicit and need to go also.

  5. But but he’s so dreamy and those pecs … sigh. Said it before and will say it again, the worst President Ever.

  6. Not everyone is as anxious to sacrifice his own family for Israel as the author of the article.
Both Russia and China have told Israel and the US that they risk a global nuclear conflagration.
And while the zionist spin machine is redlining, let’s remember that Iran has not attacked anyone in 2500 years. Compare that record, to the two protagonists who are fomenting war against Iran.

  7. Why…this man should be FLOOGED! Rob, that sounds like sarcasm…er…RACISM!!!
    Fascism???
Well whatever it is, it is NOT hopey-changey and NOT politically correct! This man is an enemy of the State!!!!

  8. The author suffered a real credibility crisis when he said “John F. Kennedy met well enough in the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis”. Kennedy was a disaster. Carter was a disaster. Obama is a catastrophe.

  9. I’ve mentioned it before here but this scenario plays well into the “One’s” hands. An international crisis in the next few months would give him an opportunity to suspend the constitution and if that isn’t enough the ploy to appeal to African-American voters in the months before the election will help divide the Union more so than “States Rights” did a century and a half ago.

  12. D/O How many times has iran said they will wipe israel off the map once they have the nuke?
first they came for my neighbor and i said nothing.
    then they came for me.
good article, i like the guys thinking.
Look whats going on over a few burnt korans.
these muzzy idiots are still liveing back beyond fred flintons stone age.
and all bam bam can do is opolgise.
he is the bigges danger to the west there is.
in control of the most powerfull nation on earth and what is he doing? disarming it.
this is not by accident in my opinion.
if i was israel i wouldn’t tell the **** nothing either.
if that arse was manageing my farm thismorning… he wouldn’t be thisafternoon!

  13. Dystopian – in your reductionism, you are ignoring that Iran has engaged in many hostile actions, including arming rebel groups in various Arab nations against their governments, openly supports an Islamist imperialism and has an openly stated policy of destruction of a neighbouring state (at one time it was Iraq; now it’s Israel).
As for the article itself, I don’t agree with it, as it has merged the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with the so-called ‘Arab Spring’ and totally ignores that the modernization of the Islamic economic and political structures in the ME is of paramount importance.
That is, it ignores that the ‘old regimes’, which the author supports because they ‘repressed the people, ie, kept them from fomenting anti-Israel emotions – did nothing of the sort. Instead, those old regimes, which were dictatorships, kept the exponentially increasing populations in a dysfunctional economic and political infrastructure.
Without a middle class – a class of citizens free to engage in small and medium PRIVATE businesses and, as such economic powers, to also be politically empowered within a democracy. That’s what the Arab Spring is about – the transformation of a two-class to a three class system.
It most certainly won’t be easy; you don’t move out of centuries of two class: Ruler/Ruled in a nanosecond. And you’ll see existent groups vyin for power. But don’t ignore that the populations don’t want one dictatorship replaced by another – and they can’t, economically sustain such a two-class continuity. They don’t have the economic resources to sustain a statist economy. They MUST have private enterprise.
That’s what the Arab Spring is about and it will be a messy decade before it sorts itself out. But, to prefer dictatorships and a two-class system, as this author does, is short-sighted.
Iran is the biggest threat in the ME; its imperialist agenda is a threat, not to Israel but to all the Arab nations – and they are sitting back, as is the US, letting Israel do the dirty work of confronting Iran.

I know that the zionist media has repeated that story endlessly, but I don’t know of any credible source.
Even if it were remotely true, so what?
What do I care of the outcome between a 3,000 year old country, and the 60 year old new kid on the block?
I’m not willing to sacrifice my grandchildren for Botswana, North Korea or Israel. Period.

“…….Iran has not attacked anyone in 2500 years.”
You have obviously forgot the Parthians….what else? For a century or 2 the Ottomans/Persia contested Mesopotamia….
“…….The author suffered a real credibility crisis when he said “John F. Kennedy met well enough in the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis”.
In your dreams….JFK was advised by the CIA what the USSR was planing….and did nothing. The CIA showed JFK overheads(U2 photos) of missiles being loaded on ships…..JFK did nothing. JFK was shown overheads of the missiles enroute…and did nothing. JFK was shown overheads of the missles being landed….and did nothing. JFK was shown overheads of the missiles being set up…and did nothing.
Finally in desperation, Crusader recon jets produced imagery at tree top level ( the birds returned with bullet holes)……and JFK courageously put the world on the very brink of thermo-nuclear war……DEFCON 3-4.
Currently there are 2-3 places to avoid….not necessarily Tel Aviv…..
Beruit….(Hiz’bollah’s 10,000 katyushas, Grads and Scuds)
Washington DC….( because it is there)
    possibly Tehran….(nuf said)
    Speculation:
Russia and China logically will limit their actions to sabre-ratling….they have too much to lose.
Russia and China are within short to medium range to interdict the obvious trouble maker (IRAN) with some chance of deniability.( the only credible witness would be US satellite overheads.)

“Iran has not attacked anyone in 2500 years”
Greece, Rome, and Byzantium were at perpetual war with Persia for 1500 years. When they weren’t at war with foreigners, they were fighting each other.

  18. Imadinnerjacket has repeatedly said that in order to prepare for the return of the Mahdi, the world must be facing the End Times. This is part of Islamic culture however he claims that they must hasten the End Times by creating a holocaust.
Idle threat? Personally I don’t think so based on his obsession with nuclear weaponry.Israel is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. If they take aggressive action they will be vilified by the rest of the world. If they don’t chances are they will be obliterated. Remember, most, if not all of the Middle East is scared S##tless of this maniac and would tacitly support Israel if they were to remove the threat. The big question is, who do they hate more, Iran or the Jewish State?

  19. Posterboy against affirmative action.
And the recent Jesse Jackson vid re foodstamp president was a laugh.

  20. What people like Dystopian don’t realize is that a Persian bomb isn’t just about Israel (and, dude, the whole “zionist” schtick doesn’t fool anyone anymore). From Riyadh to Istanbul there is panic about Iran’s influence with nukes. That means that the Arabs (in this case the Saudis) and the Turks will both have to acquire nukes to offset the Persians. This means the proliferation of nuclear weapons and material throughout a volatile part of the globe dominated by dictators and madmen. Even if Persia never uses the bomb, it’s client states and various terrorist and subversive groups will have much easier access to nuclear materials. Yeah, a Persian missile isn’t hitting Toronto but a suitcase bomb could go off in Paris or London or NYC.

  21. The Saudis are ordering their own nuclear weapons, because they cannot trust the United States to protect their vital interests any more.
No nation can trust the United States with their vital interests anymore, if they ever could.
The question Americans need to ask themselves is, “Is it more costly to end 65 years of non-proliferation policy and stop being the world’s policeman or would it be more costly if every nation started arming up with Bio/Chemical/Nuclear weapons to fill the gap that America leaves?”
I think Canada should start building nuclear weapons and their delivery systems.
I’m sure we could quickly whip up some bio/chemical weapons to bridge the gap.
Announceing such a program might get some Americans to remove their heads from their keisters.

  22. @ bygeorge, bygeorge are you ever right!
Why is it that so many politicians have to be dragged kicking and screaming into confronting mortal dangers?

  23. Ken (kulak), sad isn’t it!
to many years of haveing to be politicaly correct i guess.
it’s gonna get us bloody killed yet!

  24. Prof. Barry Rubin, the super expert on the Mid East predicts that there will be no attack. He is usually right so I am afraid we are stuck with an Iranian bomb.
BTW, Obama is not the problem, the problem is that an electorate was dumb enough to vote for someone on the basis of appearance only. We’ll see in November how stupid the electorate is.

  25. Bob, we had our Obie, the drug addled hippies from the 60’s gave us “political herpes”, political liberal herpes, known as Peeair Trudeau, the gift western Canadians didn’t want, but it keeps on giving. Herpes Trudeau gives to Canada constantly in many forms, bilingualism, ol Peeairs favourite, could have been because of the bi part, multi culturalism, or forced political correctness, no property rights because of his 1982 Castro/Mao inspired re-write of our constitution, higher taxes/ huge federal debt, from a few billion to 229 billion, and on and on. Be prepared for years of Obama herpes there Bob, you now have your own American Trudeau, smile.

  26. dystopian – do you seriously believe there is no moral or societal equivalence between the societies of Botswana, N. Korea and Israel?
Whatever the flaws of Israel, and I’m known on this blog for being a severe critic of Israel, there is no comparison between Israel in terms of its democratic infrastructure, scientific and research development and societal programs – to those of your other two ‘no-good states’.
Again, we must not ignore the imperialist ambitions of Iran – it has its eyes on the whole Middle East. Obama, the arch-idiot, ignored and rejected the democratic ambitions of the Iranian people in 2009 – and chose to support the dictators. He’s the one who has allowed Iran to become a nuclear power-with-imperialist ambitions.

It will take more than bumper sticker slogans for me to sacrifice my family and country, for some other guy’s family and country.
If the Let’s-Do-Israel’s-Dirty-Work crowd are so worried about proliferation of nukes in the ME, they aren’t they calling for the abolition of Israel’s nukes? Without their nukes, nobody else has an incentive to have them.
How do you propose to handle the point-blank ultimata from China and Russia, that an attack on Iran will be viewed as an attack on them?

  28. Dystopian –
[First – the error in my post when I referred to the ‘three states of Botswana, N.Korea and Israel as being morally equivalent’. I meant that there is no moral equivalence.
Now, Dystopian, the world is no longer made up of isolate states, separated by oceans and air from each other. We are economically and politically networked into one global societal complex. What affects one part affects all parts.
What leads you to suggest that Israel alone should ‘do the dirty-work’ of dealing with Iran’s weapons and imperialist ambitions? What about the Arab states?
And it’s a false assumption that one state having a nuclear weapon means that all other states want them. No. Israel developed them as protection against openly declared and active hostilities. Iran wants them for its imperialist agenda – and agenda which isn’t about Israel as much as it is against the Arab states.
How would China and Russia react if Iran attacked Iraq? Or Saudi Arabia?

  29. So Jimmy Carter was responsible for the current Islamic stupidity by allowing the Shah to be overthrown by stone-age hillbillies. Sounds about right. That was the religious loonies first conquest.

  30. D/O,
i get it, you’d rather be red than dead.
Who is thretening to annihilate who?
who cuts heads off, your going to equate israel haveing a nuke to that? get serious.
iran has also said were next!

  31. Peter O’Donnell at February 29, 2012 4:56 AM: …”the (Passover) holiday will overlap Easter this year.”
It always overlaps. That’s because Jesus was crucified during Passover.

  32. Iran just thinks they don’t have enough sunlight already…can’t the Obama-Nation(tm) sell them some defunct Solyndra solar panels. Probably a good nuclear power plant er nuclear weapons replacement plan.
It ‘strikes’ me that the Obama-Nation(tm)’s skin tone is tanned enough already.
You could sell the Iranian women bikinis and a few tanning salons. Now there is economic recovery plan that may just work! A couple of Burkha-King fast food restaurants and hey you’re going places…all the way to George “Bushehr” country.
So just “Qom” on over and “Tehran” the place, where you call really “Sheik” it down. So “Mullah” it over carefully, a little glass of “Shiraz”, before you take her onto the “Natanz” floor.
Hey maybe a Caspian Sea beach party, cause those ‘straights’ can really get your “Hormuz” pumping.

  34. ET:
Please stop misstating and misrepresenting what I have written, if for no other reason than it’s a sign of weakness in your position.
I drew no moral equivalence between Botswana, NK and Israel. I picked some disparate countries around the world, whose problems are of no concern to me, and certainly not worth inviting the destruction of the US. I could have picked Uruguay and Cambodia.
However, seeing as you have broached the subject of “moral equivalence”, neither Botswana nor NK have undertaken such persistent, damaging and treacherous espionage against the US, as has Israel.
Israel is the country trying to foment nuclear war and drag the US into it. They will be the ones to feel Iran, China, Russia and probably India’s wrath. Since they want the war, they should do the dirty work of fighting it.
I am not willing to sacrifice my family, or my country, to support Israel’s research development or their “societal programs” as you put it.
Do you REALLY think that watching my grandchildren dying of radiation cancers would be offset by the good vibes of having supported some nondescript social program in a foreign country half-way around the world?

  35. The greatest counterbalance we had to Iran was Iraq under Saddam. Sure solved that problem. Just like we have solved the problems in Egypt, Libia, Afghanistan , Pakistan and whoever is next on our list of Allies, when convenient.

  36. If the Let’s-Do-Israel’s-Dirty-Work crowd are so worried about proliferation of nukes in the ME, they aren’t they calling for the abolition of Israel’s nukes?
    ~Dystopian Optimist
Prove that Israel has nuclear weapons.
Israel has neither confirmed nor denied that they have nuclear weapons.
    They have never tested one.

  37. dystopian – your new ‘irrelevant states’ are equally problematic.
First, prove that Israel is ‘trying to foment nuclear war’. Kind cite your evidence. Then, prove that it is trying to drag the US into this nuclear war. Cite your evidence.
Second, how could a war in the ME lead to the destruction of the US?
Who is asking you or the US or any nation to support Israeli scientific research? Who is asking you or the US to support their societal programs? They are quite capable of supporting all of this on their own.
Now, how would you deal with Iranian imperialist agendas and its nuclear focus?
What are you suggesting be done to prevent Iranian imperialism in the ME – and its agenda of nuclear weapons?

  38. The Persians say everyday they are going to destroy Israel.
When people threaten you with utter destruction. Than spend billions getting the means, its a good indication of their objective.
Iranians display their soon nuclear prowess, like trophies at a Zoo.
People thought the Nazis where kidding. News is their co-religionists do not.
Saudis are looking madly for a defense against the Shia Muslim bid for power. How more obvious can it be?
Iran has internal problems. A war against Jews would nicely avert internal troubles with war. All I can say is Canada should have went nuclear itself. America cannot be trusted anymore under this dogmatic fool who thinks hes an emperor.
One who hates Jews as well.
A President that has done more for Muhammad than his generals ever did, in 1,400 years.
Mix in the fact that Iran truly believes it has to kill all Jews before their savior arrives. Indeed has to instigate this. Means your on a cliff with nitro Glycerin peddling on a unicycle.
These people both factions believe this implicitly.
Obama would like nothing better than the end of what he sees as a problem. Iran is the solution.
Indeed the confusion would embolden him even more now that he has made every American a criminal with no rights.
We are one second to midnight. What was unthinkable is now calculated as an option if not lynch pin, by madmen.
The dwarf means to attack Israel, he has never said anything else.
He boasts of it. Thinks the Muslim World will follow him into the whirlwind of genocidal war.
Obama will do nothing he is for Islamification. A tool of the Ummah. One just has to count how many scalps he has Nation wise that he personally has made fanatical regimes.
For those who want to keep hiding from this fact that hes just a Marxist do so. A lot of good it will do you. dream on like the French or Poland did.

  39. Jimmy Carter says Israel has at least 150 nuclear weapons. reported in following 26 May 2008 BBC, 27 May 2008 Fox News.
“evidence of an Israeli test is strong if not conclusive” with South African military. 13 Aug. 2010 UK Guardian.
or have a chat with Mordecai Vanunu. oops.

  40. mauser98,
    Mere opinion and hearsay.
No Israeli nuclear weapon is known to have been tested or seen in a photograph on a plane, truck, ship, or launcher.
South Africa did have nuclear weapons, no official statement has been issued by the South African government that Israel has nuclear weapons or worked with the South African government to develop them.

  41. Re: …”the (Passover) holiday will overlap Easter this year.”
It always overlaps. That’s because Jesus was crucified during Passover.
    (Rocky View Redneck)
They usually overlap, but not always. Variations are due moon phase / vernal equinox / Western church / Eastern Orthodox.

  42. Oz, so President Carter made it up, then a public statement? Soetoro for shure. Time magazine reports “Carter says 300 nuke weapons. he has read a few intelligence sources”. Jan. 30 2012. he made it up again? must email Vanunu re 150 or 300.

  43. Do not think Israel will attack Iran without US backing. So if Obama says no way let Iran get their nukes, blame Obama for the consequences.

  44. If “O” backs an Israeli attack, I’d say that’s a good move. But I hate to give the Kenyan that much credit.
Iranian warships would be targets as well, if they leave port!!!
We’ll see soon enough, get the lifeboats ready.

  45. WRT nuclear weapons:
Israel deters Iran (Israel most certainly has nuclear weapons – possibly tactical nukes only and has had them for over 30 years – no evidence to cite here because they don’t wish to confirm, but Iran certainly knows they do).
US deters Israel, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, and of course Russia and China deter the US.
Islamic terrorist groups are not deterred and would love to see a large scale nuclear war. Why, because they are nutbars. This is where the danger lies.
I doubt Israel would unilaterally attack nuclear weapons programs in Iran simply because an airstrike won’t work this time with underground, hardened facilities. If Iran ever used nukes against Israel, they would be utterly destroyed, that is why they’re deterred.
IMHO a lot of nations are secretly hoping Israel does the dirty work against Iran (though they will be quick to condemn), for the reasons ET states.
