Remember, It’s Starbucks Appreciation Day Today

Short version:
Starbucks is requested by anti-gun nanny nazi types to refuse service to people carrying guns.
Starbucks refuses and says it will continue to serve people carrying guns.
Anti-gun nanny nazis call for boycott.
Gun owners from across America and Canada today flood Starbucks to buy copious amount of foo-foo drinks even though we’re not really the foo-foo latte type. (I plan on getting a mint mocha thing with lots of whipped cream.)
Will SDA get results!? Tune in next quarter when Starbucks CEO says,
“For some reason sales jumped across Canada on Valentines Day by $3.1 billion.”

  1. Thanks for the heads up Captain. The nearest Starbucks is far away from here, but I may be forced to drive over later and pick up a cappuccino.
Linking to my blog, so both my readers can be made aware… 🙂

  2. Today being Valentine’s Day there will probably be lots of nifty special beverages on offer at Starbuck’s. Go for it!

  3. I don’t like Starbucks soley because they personify the sanctimonious and pretentious left. From their Birkenstocks and knitted touques to the pasty white pussy boys with their cheesey goatees and iPads, I say screw ’em I get my coffee from Tim’s and I have a FAT FRIED donut on the side. None of this trendy, sissy, pussy fair trade latte schmatte claptrap for me. Oh, and they can jam their organic cinnamon nut loaf too. Tall or grande? Give me a frickin break, it’s small and slightly larger you wannbe hippie freaks.
    Carry on.

  4. Never a good plan to refuse service to anyone packin’ heat. Common sense 101.
For the record, Starbucks is a good place to go people watching and I am a sucker for the pastry. Coffee sucks though.

  5. I went to the boycott page where I was encouraged to sign the petition and add my own comments.
You know where this is going…
    Try it, have some fun!

  6. Good, Starbucks could use the testosterone. It feels so gay to step in there, although on the rare occasion that I do I enjoy saying “small coffee” instead of “tall” or whatever sissy pants name they have for their smallest coffee.

  7. Sent an email:
“Do you realize you are retarded?
I hope you get national news coverage for months. People need to know how stunned you are.
    Richard Nixon”

  8. I should add at this time that I used to make a point of making sure my pistol stuck out of my shirt when attending Starbucks in Phoenix back in the ’90s when I lived there, as did many others. Just to tweak the liberals, y’unnerstand. Worked fine, looks like.

  9. Not that long back at a gathering I engaged an OPP constable on the merits etc of Licenced Concealed Carry. He was vivibly offended when I ripped to shreds, his initial dismissal of the LCC as preposterously dangerous and that handguns served no purpose other than the commision of murder.
Easily countered….Police carry handguns to “murder” citizens?
That’s different…the police pistol is for self defence.
Against? What threat exists in the Police dimension that is absent from the citizen’s dimension?
Police have to interact with criminals…..
Citizens have to interact with criminals…
    Different!
Yes! really! Citizens lack a tax-payer funded sidearm and body armour. Criminals do not prey on Police…they prey on citizens….
Police are trained and do not abuse the use of force!
Yeah! And they haven’t tazered folk to death?
Mass shootings ALL occur in “gun-free zones’ but do not occur in Police Stations or Gun Shows….
There is little pleasure to be had, in a battle of wits, with an unarmed man.

  10. Double plus good what Eskimo said.
Was forced to enter a Starbucks once. I asked for a black coffee. The server didn’t have a clue what I wanted. Finally got one. It tasted like shit. Never again!

  11. Sasquatch, that is a brilliant argument. I just posted it in a Facebook note, should send a few of my lefty friends into a tailspin.
Time for a green tea, almond milk latte.

  12. I’m a sucker for Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Lattes. Expensive, but tasty! Unfortunately they are probably off the menu this time of year. Plan B will be a Toazo Iced Tea with Lemon.
For those that missed it, the point is to demonstrate to retailers that pro-gun consumers are more important to their bottom line than the anti’s.

  13. Well here in Canada their decision would be based on pure economics since only the cops and armored truck drivers carry hand guns. I mean what coffee shop could stay in business if they didn’t serve cops?

  14. Haven’t been to Starbucks in ages but I passed over my usual coffee shop for a rather ordinary triple shot americano today to support the anti-boycott.
In defense of Starbucks, not sure how anyone can drink the dishwater from Tim Hortons (is there even coffee in it?) and call Starbucks coffee foo-foo. At least Starbucks kinda, sorta tastes like real coffee. I have no idea what the stuff Tim’s sells is supposed to be…

  15. “Never a good plan to refuse service to anyone packin’ heat. Common sense 101.”
Why? I thought guns were for self-defense.

  16. Aaargh
Tim’s coffee buzzes me out from the second sip and Starbucks leaves an unpleasant aftertaste.
(we’re only talking straight up coffees here…never touch the designer stuff)
I usually try to limit my coffee intake to my own homebrew, though when out on the road I find the occasional cuppa from A&W is bearable.

  17. A couple of weeks ago I went into a Starbucks because it was there and a Tim’s wasn’t. I ordered a Vente Italian…gawd does that ever sound fruity…and I have to admit it was the best damn cuppa cawfee I’ve had in a long time. So much so, I’m afraid to say it puts that swill Tim’s sells to shame and well worth the $0.80 premium.
I guess I can look at the bright side, at least my patronage keeps all those liberal arts graduates employed…

  18. If you got an urge for a foo foo drink go packin’ there’ll be less chance of critical commentary.

Oh my heart be still….his eyes wide open…..
Actually the lefty contention that handguns are “offensive weapons”….is fallacious….all firearms offend them.
Handguns are defensive….check out the cops….when they intend to do some serious shootin’….. they bring shotguns, rippers, rifles….handguns are just ballast to SWAT…

  20. I suspect (convinced actually) that anyone who leaves comments at this doffus site….will have their comments deleted and be added to their petition as a supporter……

  21. Just arrived in E-mail:
    Thank you for contacting Starbucks.
Thank you for your feedback regarding Starbucks’ policy on open carry laws. I am truly happy to hear that you support and appreciate our gun policy!
At Starbucks, we deeply respect the views of our customers and recognize that there is significant and genuine passion surrounding the issue of open carry weapons laws. We comply with local laws and statutes in the communities we serve. Our long-standing approach to this issue remains unchanged and we abide by the laws that permit open carry in 43 U.S. states. Where these laws don’t exist, openly carrying weapons in our stores is prohibited.
As the public debate around this issue continues, we encourage customers and advocacy groups from both sides to share their input with their public officials. We are extremely sensitive to the issue of gun violence in our society and believe that supporting local laws is the right way for us to ensure a safe environment for both partners and customers.
We will be happy see you in our stores today for Valentines Day! Thanks again for writing us to share your feedback and also for your support, have a beautiful day!
If you ever have any questions or concerns in the future, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
    Sincerely,
    Christina

  22. I printed out the flyer, put a big X on it, wrote “This is ridiculous – I Support Starbucks” and went down to buy a couple of grande lattes. Manager had seen the flyer online but none of her staff had. I told them I was supporting them against this ridiculous boycott and they gave me 2 free Lattes. Nice! So I dropped $10 in SDA’s tip jar instead.

  23. marco wrote: “I was gonna take the old lady to Tim’s for valentines, but it seems I’ll have to go upscale now.”
    LOL. You incurable romantic, you.
I would have to drive two hours to get to a Starbucks. Or 2 1/2 hours to savour my brother’s coffee, which beats any other, hands down. He takes his coffee seriously.

  24. sasquatch, I like your common sense arguments.
I like Starbucks plain coffee, but I usually put on a disguise when I walk in so that my lefty friends won’t spot me. When in a different city, I boldly walk in.
    Good for Starbucks.
Has anybody else noticed that there seems to be a proliferation of this sort of confrontation and that it is precipitated by a lefty grip on the company.

  25. I have been in line-ups at both Starbucks and Tim Horton’s. The consumers at Starbucks have their heads further up there ass’s by a country mile over the group from Tim’s….just an observation. I do support Starbuck’s decision here though.

  26. Our local Timmys has at least a 15 minute line up every time I go there. The Starbucks never has a line up. I figure that my time is worth more than $8 an hour, so I happily pay an extra couple of bucks for a coffee at Starbucks and save a quarter hour of my precious life. My wife thinks that I’m nuts. Happy Valentine’s Day.

  27. Venti Americano and 25 $2 bills on my Starbucks card. Got a nice smile and a thumbs up from the clerk, who it turns out is a veteran.

  28. I cross the street on my way to work in order to go to Starbucks. It’s extra distance for me to go to Tim Hortons a block away, although I find their coffee acceptable.
The service at Starbucks, where I consistently request simply, “Good morning, may I have a tall black” .. is excellent. Sometimes I add, “Good morning, may I have a tall black, make her about 5 feet, 8” .. is usually met with a slight smirk, and more goofy jokes on both parts.
The coffee is fresh, dark, a bit nutty with overtones of “good morning”.
One daughter recently started working part time at a downtown Starbucks here. / She’s as conservative as I am, often bringing up how great caribou tastes, and her dreams of owning her own business. She’s “MY GIRL !”

  29. Indiana Toll Road Starbucks?
    Check.
I’m no fan of the taste of their coffee. But doing right MUST BE REWARDED.

  30. It was easy to go over $60 today, some gifts, some beans, etc.
Staff was clueless about the issue.
Oh well, still have great coffee!
