  1. James Moore’s response to the Sun News TV reporter is disgusting. That goof is nothing but a Liberal in disguise.
Hopefully any SDA commenters that live in his riding will work to oust him.

“James Moore’s response to the Sun News TV reporter is disgusting. That goof is nothing but a Liberal in disguise.

Yeah….bizarre….doesn’t seem to fit the “hidden agenda” at all……I think.

  3. Quebec’s economy is so screwed they need to divert attention of the masses.
The Romans used the Forum, Quebec uses cheap porn.
Cut off the Transfer Payments from the rest of Canada, the successful parts (can you say Western Canada) to the giant money suck called Quebec.

  4. I am disgusted with cabinet minister James Moore response to the sun news reporter.
Mr. Moore is not only trained by CBC but brainwashed.
This minister needs to be demoted. No phony apologies will be accepted from this minister.
    Time to sell the CBC.

  5. Time to write the CINO PM again. Twice in one day. I haven’t done that since the Liberals were in power…… oh wait.

  6. It’s all going according to plan.
James Moore plays fake defense while, Sun and CTF and the grassroots goes on the offense.
This creates a frame that allows the Tories room to manuever within.
Watch the budget for reasonable compromise that ten years ago would have been unthinkable.
The 2003 book….Rescuing Canada’s Right is being implemented to a tee.
Harper is no CINO…he’s a master strategist.

  7. Being the optimist and Conspiracy Theorist that I am, I have to agree with Jeff at February 2, 2012 1:18 PM.
It’s entirely too strange to be otherwise than a strategy. The PM would not appoint a Liberal Goof (although it would make it easier to work with the CBC if you were one) to this job.
    More will be revealed.

  8. I agree Jeff. If the tories all went Ape $h!t over this then the “MSM” would paint them as knuckle draggers. If the grass roots Jane and Joe six pack go Ape $h!T the “MSN” would be cutting their own throat if they try to paint them with that brush.
    I like it!

  9. Even farm kids tumbling off the backs of turnip trucks know that you don’t have to pay for porn online. Someone should let the CBC in on that little secret before they waste more tax money.

  10. Drop the kids off at the government subsidized day care and watch porn all afternoon on the $1.3 billion dollar a year government subsidized CBC…all on the tax payer dime.
    Life’s grand ain’t it folks?

  11. Last budget was the smart time to have ended CBC. This budget is the last opportunity until after the next election. Simply kill it by defunding. Don’t try to save the good parts because the cost will be out of reason for the service offered.

  12. Clearly Moore has been instructed to defend the CBC. Hard to say if he’s sniffed the glue or not but if he’s faking it he’s doing a brilliant job of tricking liberals.

  13. Gasp! Nudity on the Canadian french channels is nothing new. The fact that it is so over-the-top that it can’t be disguised as culture or part of the story AND not even Quebecois actors, is the truly disgusting thing.
Normally, I couldn’t give a rat’s patootie about it except that in these times of economic uncertainty every taxpayer dime should be accounted for.
I know the CBC doesn’t want to give out financials, even their Starbucks tab, but does anyone know whether or not that “hit” cultural series Little Mosque made any money or was it a cultural thing.

  14. Was there anything depicted there, that Canada’s First Lady, Margaret Trudeau, wasn’t photographed doing in the elevators of the Waldorf-Astoria, 40 years ago?

  15. Well we’ve been asserting CBC has been screwing the public financially for years now it’s a fact they’re using our money for porn.

  16. They’ll just say it’s funding cutting edge (transgressive, gender-bending, etc.) artistic programming that anglophones are too prudish and conservative to appreciate.

  17. Bravo cbc, once again proving that a billion dollars doesn’t get us much. The series ‘Hard” can be accessed through ths link.
Don’t expect much,it’s the cbc preserving their mediocrity.
    http://www.tou.tv/

  18. And this is the open, vibrant, and totally unique Quebecois ‘culture’ that is in danger of disappearing if it’s not protected?
    Now that’s funny!

  19. Stephen Harper, PM
    James Moore, MP
    Gentlemen,
It was recently brought to my attention that a CBC Radio Canada website was hosting pornography. This is a totally inappropriate use of my tax dollars.
This further exemplifies how CBC is out of touch with true Canadian values.
Funding to CBC should be significantly cut; it’s a waste of money that could be better spent to reduce the deficit.

  20. I yam outraged! Outraged I tells ya!!!
But ya know, being a pig of lowest moral character…I may have to start watching the CBC!
But I promise to only watch it for the porn!

  21. How many of you took the time to write to the PM and the Minister? If you didn’t, then your comments here are nothing more than a waste of time preaching to the converted.

  22. After reading the comments here, I finally realized Margaret Atwood was right. That lunch the PM had with Rupert Murdock is where all this was planned. Those scheming, lying you know whats and their hidden agenda!!

  23. North of 60 at February 2, 2012 3:16 PM
True. And unlike our witty, perceptive and ahem, humble comments on SDA, you would have a difficult time convincing most people that CBC’s further descent (didn’t think it possible eh)provided any social or cultural value.
But, you’re right. As with all disgust and outrage vented on blogs, talk-radio, etc. – nothing concrete is accomplished unless the Powers-that-Be are reamed.

  24. North of 60 at 3:16 PM: “How many of you took the time to write to the PM and the Minister? If you didn’t, then your comments here are nothing more than a waste of time preaching to the converted.”
    ====================================
This is what I wrote on January 31 in response to news that a conservative backbencher (Brian Jean) had taken some steps (can’t remember exactly what now) toward dismantling the beast. Now, maybe there is something to the conspiracy theory. This was CCd to Harper, Moore and my local MP, Andrew Scheer, who, because he’s Speaker, won’t be doing anything about this, but I thought I should let him know, in any case. He might want to be re-elected.
“I want to congratulate Brian Jean for his efforts towards privatizing the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and let the rest of those receiving this message know that I wholeheartedly agree with the idea that a publicly funded broadcaster is not needed. A state funded broadcaster has no place in a democratic country, especially given that there is so much alternative media available. CBC has an unfair advantage over its competitors. Its bias is outrageous and there seems to be no way for me to protest my dislike for the organization. A publicly funded institution provides no mechanism for citizens to register their approval or disapproval of what it offers, short of sending letters and at the ballot box, hense, they are not accountable to those who pay the piper. A publicly funded broadcaster does not depend on advertizers, who in turn depend on people like me watching/listening to its broadcasts. As a Canadian citizen, I feel the use of my tax dollars toward supporting this agency is anathema to freedom and citizen sovereignty. A publicly funded broadcaster belongs in some petty third-world dictatorship, not in a proud and free country like Canada. Please continue the effort until the task is accomplished.”
Hope y’all decide to write to your MPs and to Harper and Moore as well. This thing should reach a feverish pitch by the time of the next election campaign.

  25. Our MP tells me that written comments are taken very seriously. They realize that the people who take the time to write are also the people who take the time to vote. They also realize that written comments are likely the sentiments of hundreds more who won’t write, but are equally concerned.
We can’t expect our government to act in a way that represents us unless we share our views and opinions with our MPs and the PM.

  26. I don’t always watch porn but when I do… I like to watch the taxpayer funded stuff.

  27. In contrast to Sun News Network the CBC “Common Broad Copulation” brings you the ‘Hard Porn Network’ .
Yeah this is the kind of stuff the family can snuggle up to on the couch for entertainment hour…because you know young impressionable girls need positive role models…
Of course we have been asserting all along that the taxpayer was being screwed, this only confirms the fact.
As Minister Moore suggests the CBC’s mandate is to ‘unify Canadians’ but they never specified how…
Perhaps they’ll justify it as some around the back curtain method of shoring up the declining demographic viewership.
CBC is watched by flaccid minds…

  28. Just sent my email to Ministers ‘Arper & Moore.
    Here’s a tip.
Address the correspondence to The Minister. Note that is to be considered Ministerial Correspondence.
Anything that is coded Ministerial Correspondence is required to be answered with 72 hours. Normally
a reply will be snail-mailed if your address is provided.

  29. To be fair, no Minister is going to respond intelligently in an off-the-cuff fashion in a scrum. The only response a reporter will ever get is, “I haven’t seen it.”
Now, if Sun really wants to do it right, you send him the clip in advance, say you’re coming in to talk with him and get his response since he now has no lame excuse.
THEN you go after him because now he has no defense. There’s a way to nail a Minister, but it’s not in a scrum ambush.

  30. The French have always been perverted lowlifes thinking their highlife. No surprises that they expect us to pay for it, like we do for everything else for the entitled scum of our society.

  31. I’m very disappointed in James Moore too. (And, how ironic: It was James Moore who, in the HOC in 2007, was accused of watching “scantily clad women” on his laptop by idiot NDPer Irene Mathyssen. ‘Turns out it was his
girlfriend and Mathyssen was forced to apologize!)
It appears that the CBC has more clout over the Heritage Minister than he has over them. It appears that he wants to be in with the in crowd and is less concerned about taxpayer dollars going to fund porn on the CBC than he is in defending the Canadian Bawdy Corporation.
However, what if — as suggested by jeff @ 1:18 PM — James Moore is playing fake defense alongside Sun, CTF, and the grassroots going on the offense to make it clear to Canadians what’s going on at the CBC?
I totally agree with jeff that PM Harper is no CINO but, rather, is a master strategist. There may be method in Minister Moore’s apparent madness.
    I hope so.

  32. cgh >
“To be fair”, they offered to allow him to view a sample before he commented, he declined.
Of course allot of people seem to think we don’t need politicians that can think on their feet and voice their honest and open opinions rather than developing a canned political speech from the confines of their office.

  33. We need to ban French Fries AGAIN!
    Jamie MacMaster >
“I think I smelled brimstone for a second”.
Nah, Trudeau just farted a little when he heard the Sun report.

  34. Ezra Levant just did an interview with Chris Sims, the SunNews TV reporter who talked to James Moore. It turns out that they talked twice more a little later and Moore accused Quebecor of setting this up to disparage CBC.
Ezra thinks this could go further.

  35. Wow, one of these days Slater won’t hold back and then we’ll know how he really feels about Quebec, eh?

  36. Good news, over at SunTV: “Minister slams CBC’s sex show”:
    http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/s
Heritage Minister James Moore said about Hard, “This programming cannot be defended. Having now seen the show in question, it raises serious concerns about some programming decisions being made with taxpayers’ dollars by CBC/Radio-Canada.”
Apparently, the show will not be available for much longer.
    Good decision, Minister Moore!

  37. CBC French TV has been showing soft core porn, which is what this is (I peeked), for 25 years or more.
Come to think of it, CBC attempts at intellectual content in recent years, it has also been only simulated, too.

  38. Brian, if the CBC were a private corporation, NOT publicly funded, they could show anything they want to on their channels. As it is, they ARE publicly funded, and we don’t want our tax dollars paying for this smut.
    Simple.

  39. Knight 99 @ 4.43 today, the French are not low-lifers. I must declare myself a Francophile – they have many great aspects that are undiscovered by those who do not spend time with them or know their language , history or cultural attitudes.
That said, I am opposed to enforced bilingualism and the paying of QuebecGeld.
…. just wanted to make a little balance.

  40. Brian at 6:06 PM : “You guys are prudes. Humans like to bone. Get over it.”
    ================
Not getting enough, is it, Brian? Can’t afford to buy it, perhaps? Expect us to help you pay for it? Inquiring minds want to know.

  41. Hmm. And to think it was the CBC who were crying that the Sun Network’s news ladies were “baring arms”. Who’s baring it all now ?
And besides, you can get this soap opera porn directly on the producer’s website in France, so why the h-ll must we pay for it through the CBC.
Time to fire up the old email program and have a one way chat with Mr Harper about this.
