    “The US military and CIA are investigating claims that classified information about the killing of Osama bin Laden was given to Oscar winning filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow, a Republican politician has said. Peter King, chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, said he requested an investigation after reports that President Barack Obama’s administration gave high-level access to Bigelow and Sony Pictures about the raid that killed the al-Qaeda leader in Pakistan last year.

  2. The problem with public housing is that the residents are not the owners. The people that live in the house did not earn the house, but were loaned the property from the true owners, the taxpayers. Because of this, the residents do not have the “pride of ownership” that comes with the hard work necessary. In fact, the opposite happens and the residents resent their benefactors because the very house is a constant reminder that they themselves did not earn the right to live in the house. They do not appreciate the value of the property and see no need to maintain or respect it in any way.
    The result is the same whether you are talking about a studio apartment or a magnificent mansion full of priceless antiques. If the people who live there do not feel they earned the privilege, they will make this known through their actions.

    It is not capitalism to blame for current economic situation, it is the interference by politicians and bureaucrats without any responsibility and accountability, that messed up and blamed it on capitalism.

  14. Interesting. A court challenge was filed in Georgia by a voter contesting Obama’s eligibility to be on the ballot because he is not a “natural born citizen” of the United States.
    The guy is saying that Obama’s father was not a citizen or permanent resident of the US, so he was born to only one parent who was a citizen. Apparently there is precedent that to be a “natural born citizen”, you must be born to 2 parents who are also citizens.
    Obama’s motion to dismiss this claim was denied by the Georgia state court this week. The birth certificate and his social security number will go to discovery.

  19. I spent at least a quarter of an hour reading and composing a response to one of the typical (the-science-is-settled) half-witted off-hand, knee-jerk statements.
    Was careful to save and edit my comment, because it just might go down the memory hole and I removed all references to the originating website so as to not give them any views from SDA.
    So I uploaded to my own site, and then realized, crap! By sending SDA to MY website, I’m doing the same whoring thing!

    Well, at least from the MSM and the loons ready to exploit them. Most Americans I know aren’t too worried.
    But ya know, spreading FUD *IS* a great tactic, whether for hyped-up newspaper sales or creating panic amongst those you wish to control.
    ‘Crisis, What Crisis’ was a nice Supertramp album, but as with Monty Python, those without their own imagination have adopted the pre-programmed interpretation of art vs. technology concept, choosing to think that the world is going into a hellbasket as we all watch.
    Never let a good crisis go to waste.

  22. Since 2006 129 Canadians have been killed in Mexico and 129 Canadians have been killed in Afghanistan. Canadians in Afghanistan are likely safer; they get to carry guns to defend themselves.
    Of course the CBC censors won’t post that comment.

    Are you suggesting that Obama didn’t “(signal) Congress this week that he is prepared to share U.S. missile defense secrets with Russia”, or that he didn’t say that restrictions aimed at protecting top-secret technical data on U.S. Standard Missile-3 velocity burnout parameters might impinge on his constitutional foreign policy authority, and that Gertz is just paranoically/conspiratorially making these things up in the same way that the truthers make things up?

    Re-reading the article, he could just have easily been talking about the Liberal Party of Canada. Mulroney blew up the PCs in a big bang but the LPC basically did the same thing in slow motion – they gradually alienated bits and pieces of Canadian voters until all they had left was downtown Mon-To-Van. Maybe this is the inevitable fate of all democratic parties.

  43. Kate – I just posted a comment on the ‘SDA gets results’ below regarding Chiquita bananas. My concern is that the Hewlett part of Hewlett Packard is donating huge amounts of money to the people protesting the XL pipeline and the proposed pipeline to the coast.
    As I have stated previously I would not send anything to China but there are other markets.
    Bottom line Hewlett should be accountable for their stand and the best way to get their attention is to hit them where they are vulnerable.

  45. Silly me, I thought the spoon ID story was to prevent cooking down drugs not homicide. But then I realized that if spoons were vital for injection of dope (like they show in the movies) then Vancouver would have spoon exchanges.
    I was also hoping to hear more about Black Mamba’s limes but that thread appears to have died. You have to admit the subject was ripe for wordplay.

    When the Palestinians elected a government run by the terrorist group Hamas, the left claimed that democracy is sacred and no one can interfere with or object to their decision.
    But when Hungary elects a “right-wing” government, as when Austria elected the late Joerg Haider in 2000, the left can interfere all they want.
