An interesting new article coming out of the failed Greenfest in Durban opens up an entirely new set of questions for Canada’s American MP, Elizabeth May.
Leon Louw, Executive Director of South Africa’s Free Market Institute, has some most interesting things to say about the goals of May and her comrades at the UN:
The money goes to government and governments spend it on of course on themselves, meaning various government projects, creating bigger departments — bigger bureaucracies, it’s called big bureaucratic capture. They build empires, they build conference centers, and they buy political support. They go and distribute the money to communities where they want support and votes.
What the UN is saying is: ‘We want you to indulge our opinion of climate change and if you do so it’s going to cause a great deal of poverty and unemployment in poor counties.’ You cannot, as a poor country, subscribe to the Kyoto Protocol and grow. The two are mutually exclusive.
When will CBC/CTV/Global be asking Ms. May why she continues to support the oppression of poor people?

Ibbitson’s column seems lacklustre,as if he’s writing a contractual obligation article,but has lost his enthusiasm for the subject which is ,as always, Conservative bashing.
I’m ashamed,of writers like Ibbitson.
Ibbitson is reliably years behind any issue, but I guess that makes him mainstream with the Globe. I’ve seen him on TV, he reminds me of Wodehouse’s Bertie Wooster without the charm.

It’s been obvious to me for years that population reduction on a massive scale is near the core of the left’s secret agenda. Remember one death’s a tragedy, five billion’s a statistic. Lizzie, Suzuki and their ilk don’t hate poor people but poor brown people starving to death by the hundreds of millions would suit their politics. Stalin did it, Mao did it, but they were pikers, the problem’s much bigger now, human farts out of Africa are changing the climate.

Immediately after the last Liberal Party hack is fired from CTV and Glowball to save those companies from bankruptcy. It will never be asked on CBC. Ever.
And yes, the Watermellons do hate the world’s teeming poor. They get in the way, their consumption of resources is inconvenient, and also they are untidy. The poor are only tolerated if they are picturesque or politically useful. Notice the NDP are in Looooove with Atiwapiskat this year, didn’t give a rip last year.
Ask the green goons how the Kyoto treaty would reduce C02 emissions and real pollution if it allows the dirty industry in China to have a pass.
All that will happen is more production will move to the higher polluting factories in China, so more pollution, not less.
Well I fired off a barrage of e-mails about this to the NDP as well as Boob Rae and Lizzie May….
The only one that bounced was Lizzie May’s.
I suspect she has shut her e-mail down….I cut and pasted the e-mail address….eliminating my human error.
As usual, Ibbie has things backwards. Starting from the top, the American commitment was Al Gore’s idea, not Clinton’s, and Al did it all on his own authority. Ibbie somehow fails to mention that even with a super-majority in both Houses of Congress, Obama never tabled Kyoto for ratification by the US, let alone Clinton seeing this for the stinkbomb it was.
Next, the Liberals indeed had a plan. It was a combination of some domestic activity and buying a lot of carbon credits from 3rd World nations. For Ibbie to pretend the Liberals didn’t have a plan is pure rewriting of history. Their plan was to shovel a lot of our money into a lot of dictatorial pest-holes.
Next, Lehman Brothers didn’t trigger the 2008 credit crisis. That crisis was already underway because of a slew of mortgage bankruptcies and collapse in the US housing bubble, along with assorted banking catastrophes in Ireland and Iceland. Lehman was simply the first over-exposed under-capitalized victim.
Finally, Canada gave it’s word to the world. So did the rest of the Annex 1 countries, and virtually none of them met their targets either. Canada was simply honest enough to say the targets can’t be met and we’re not going to ruin our economy trying. What Ibbie is trying to avoid is that all the rest of the Kyoto signatories are congential liars.
So let’s see, that’s at least four major errors of fact by Ibbie. No, I don’t feel ashamed. What I feel is contempt for lying apologists like Ibbie. There was indeed Liberal and Conservative mendacity on the issue. The Liberal lie was that they believed all this garbage but refused to tell the public how they would live up to it. The Conservative lie was to give lip-service to it, all the while knowing it was pure tripe. They were simply waiting for Typhoon Credit Crisis to blow Trailer Park Protocol to oblivion.
But the greatest mendacity was from the press, specifically including Ibbie, that failed ever to examine whether or not the Protocol would:
1. actually reduce emissions; and
2. would produce any measureable effect on global warming even if all the crooked modeling and lying dendro-chronology was actually true and the IPCC was not a gang of thieves and liars.
Leon Louw is entirely right. For the 3rd World, Kyoto meant capping their access to energy at some absolute number. Like all other Green schemes it’s just Western eco-paradise built on the bodies of millions of dead Africans.
White liberals control the fate of poor brown people. They wouldn’t want it any other way.
Well, at least one person in Africa sees through the racist neo-colonialism of the UN. What I found especially amusing was the watermelon who was decrying the introduction of electricity to Africa. What the watermelons want is a dependent class of the destitute who they can romanticize and point to them as what western civilization should be aspiring to. It was especially telling when the same eco-lunatic mentioned that poverty is not nearly as bad when there are no rich people around.
What we should be striving for is a lifestyle equivalent to the N. American one for everyone on the planet. That doesn’t mean that everyone has to live in a city with indoor plumbing, electricity and clean water and watermelons are perfectly free to live like neanderthals on land they’ve purchased. The nasty, brutish and short existence that watermelons romanticize only appeals to a tiny minority of the worlds population.
The key to attaining a modern existence is cheap energy and solar and wind power have absolutely no role in this scheme aside from providing power in very remote locations. Plants do a very good job of capturing solar energy and maybe they should be allowed this area of specialization. Once electricity prices are 1/1000 of what they currently are now then a host of new technologies will be possible including cheap desalinization of seawater, sterilization of sewage and “mining” of elements in the earths crust that are just in too low a concentration to extract commercially at this time.
The dependance of modern society on cheap energy hasn’t gone unnoticed by watermelon totalitarians who seek to make energy as expensive as possible in order to swell the ranks of those dependent on government aid. The whole “aid for the poor” scam is a never-ending kleptocratic scheme to extract the maximum amount of money from those who can be made to feel guilty enough with a tiny amount of the money trickling down to the destitute. The majority of funds are used to fund lavish lifestyles of “carers” who primary use the funding to raise yet more money. If the poor stopped being impoverished, there would be no reason to raise money for them and the “carers” would be out of a job.
At least some people are seeing through this scam and Canada has taken a tiny step towards ridding the world of UN kleptocracy. Once Canada withdraws from the UN, hopefully other nations will follow and the majority of UN “diplomats” will reside in prisons where they rightfully belong.
Why do Greens hate people and animals? – is perhaps the central question. We too quickly forget the horrifying videos of polar bears being dropped on a large city, and splattering over buildings and cars, and the video of Greens blowing the heads of people, even childnre, off, when they disbelieved the official green line. These videos were imagined; what fiendish, hellish imaginations produced them!

As for Johnny Epson (salts) – he is mealy mouthed; always has been always will be. I too, am ashamed for us for having him given any credability in our country. I am ashamed for CTV and CBC also.

The Durban conference did not fail. For the free-loading warmist industry and its hangers-on, success is living to attend another conference in another fashionable watering hole at taxpayer expense. They achieved this at Durban. They really don’t give a crap about solving climate issues as long as there is another conference and another exotic trip. Their product is process. Laisse les bon temps roule, as they say in Louisiana.
On the plus side, the comments after the shameful Ibbitson piece show that the majority of people understand this whole thing is a redistribution scam by the ruling elites.

This type of comment is made every so often. I think the writer nails it with regard not only to Climate Change, but, to nearly every other international issue where Canada gets involved.
