And yes, this is all about greed, the greed of Green Profiteers like Al Gore, GE, etc. who are only too happy to skim billions from the citizens while they themselves live in the lap of luxury consuming 10x the energy that normal people use.
    Mark my words, Obama is working on starting a war with Iran just to prop up the price of oil so the rest of his so called green companies won’t go bankrupt like Solyndra pushing their expensive uneconomic products. Wind generators and solar panels aren’t cost competitive unless oil is around $200/barrel. So If Obama and the rest of the pols can’t impose carbon taxes to jack up the price, the only thing left is to create an artificial shortage. They tried a domestic drilling ban and due to horizontal drilling and fracking, they failed to achieve the result. War with Iran is their last chance.

    Logically, climate change is not a threat, imminent or otherwise.
    The climate normally changes, there has never been stasis over any period of decades and the idea that there has been some sort of stability with the earth’s climate is merely the triumph of communist propaganda in the Information Age coupled with natural human gullibility.

    Some might argue that Saskboy’s characterization of the leftist position – that our civilization will collapse if we don’t adhere to the Kyoto agreement – is a gross exaggeration, and that this unrealism renders it ineffective as satire, but there are actually a lot of idiots on the left who do talk (and write) like that.

There WAS NO SUV’s or Harper governments when the last SEVEN ice ages melted away. 12,000 ft of ICE over Toronto and it MELTED away – at least SEVEN TIMES!! How can any fool fall for the ICCP/GORE/MANN claims that gloBULL warming is ALL man-made and the only way to stop it is for the industrialized nations to PAY the UNindustrialized nations for the privilege of continuing to pollute? None of those accords had ANYTHING to do with greenhouse gas emissions. It was redistribution of wealth. OUR wealth to 3rd world dicktator’s Swiss bank accounts – oh and Gore’s greenhouse gas exchange. All that a bit TOO transparent for a committed leftest or are ya just a tad too dim to see the obvious?
    Koyoto, BTW, was signed by Chretien – who did NOTHING about CO2 gas emissions from Canada for FOURTEEN YEARS. Were you squawking and posting then or does partisan politics only count when you’re knocking Conservatives? That was a question and the answer is obvious too.

  21. Saskboy is right, greed is a big problem — “greed” meaning the desire for something to which one is not entitled. Prime examples are fatcat civil servants who get paid big salaries for doing “work” that is not only unproductive but quite possibly extremely destructive, i.e. most regulatory agencies. These civil servants could actually help the economy merely by being put on welfare. Other civil servants, like the people who pave the roads, don’t fall into this category.
    Another form of greed is that of corporations who run to the government to get it to pass laws and regulations that hinder their competitors.
    Greed only becomes a problem in the absence of a capitalist free market economy. Trade is the voluntary exchange of goods and services for mutual benefit. Under capitalism, if a person asks too much in return for what he has to offer, no one will trade with him; thus greed is kept in check. Any kind of government intervention distorts the economy and can easily allow the greedy to rip off everybody else. The economic calculations provided from voluntary trade are essential to decide whether resources are being used efficiently. Otherwise, capital may be consumed rather than increased, and this is what leads to the collapse of a civilization.
    Capitalism is founded on reason, and it is the political system consistent with the principles of justice. To abandon it is to abandon hope.
    The first steps toward ending the decline:
    1. Streamline the tax system. For individuals, abolish most loopholes and deductions (individual, spouse, probably kids and charitable can stay). If there has to be more than one bracket then the top one should not be excessive. For corporations, if there has to be a corporate tax at all, then it should be a flat low rate (2 or 3 per cent) on gross income, with no deductions at all, to cover the cost of police, fire, contracts, etc.
    2. Deregulate. Keep the laws against fraud, of course, but all the silly regulations regarding the colour of margarine or whether you can park on your own property can be dispensed with.
    3. Scrap every single grant to “advocacy groups” and “activist groups” immediately!
    4. Start thinking about how to abolish the welfare state, over a period of a couple of decades. Ending economic regulations like minimum wage will enable the unemployment rate to drop close to zero. That by itself should cut the number of people collecting welfare or EI by quite a bit.

It was obvious way back then that the goal of the Kyoto Protocol is to destroy the western way of life. The problem with destroying the western way of life is that the generous tax revenue that the enviro wacos have been using to punish said taxpayers dries up and they lose their cushey livelyhoods at the taxpayers expense.The other irony of the Kyoto protocol which was a Socialist Wet Dream is that it has rapidly accelerated the demise of the Socialist Movements all over the world. It is tragic that so many innocent people have been hurt along the way by the madness. I remember posting at this site that these forces would not be happy until they put the world into a recession. My comments reaped a lot of scorn. There are other factors involved in this worldwide recession but these job killing regulations made possible by this blind acceptance of this wrong headed global warming theory has certainly been a contributing factor. It would be entertaining to watch these socialist squirm except for the fact that so many sad taxpayers are suffering from increasingly punitive energy cost brought about by this Global Warming fiasco. I spend my winters in the Arizona to escape the Global Warming and the American people I know have been saddened to see what is happening to their country under this leftist President of theirs.

    We believe in the scientific method, not ‘consensus’. Your science would still be declaring the earth flat, and the universe revolving around the earth. That was consensus science of the past.

Global Warming is fraught with all sorts of Charletons trying to get their hands on the ridiculous amount of money in the globull warming basket. History will show this theory on Climate Change to be the cause of the biggest voluntary decline of civilizations and the enormous waste of capital will be staggering. And, of course, history will show it to be wrong – but it’s ok because its supporters (other than the obvious ones who are in it to make billions AKA Al Gore) had good intentions (what a lot of huey).
