  1. I think I’m going to convert my investment portfolio into gold bullion and KD and hide out in a cave for the next five years.

  2. Paper money is nothing more than a coupon that represents the value of work done or value created in the past. Europe and NA does not work/create enough value for rapacious governments to continue squandering the way they do.
They can create as much money as they like, but our standard of living will be be what the wealth we create allows.

  3. Apparently they are still arranging the deck chairs. They problem is too much debt. The people that won’t buy the bonds know there is too much debt. Everyone knows there is too much debt. So what’s the solution? Borrow more money.

  4. “Everything I needed to know about social justice, I learned from the Little Red Hen.” Kate.
Ha! Great comment Kate. Have read that book to my kids many times.

  5. Thank god this is Canada where we are immune to those silly problems and can devote ourselves to the really important things like 05 alcohol driving limits, obesity, carbon capturing, green unaffordable energy, second hand smoke, salt abatement programs, bullying, and gay friendly schools. In the near future, when the going gets tough, we could find that nanny has done a poor job in guidance and wussifying the nation might have been a mistake.

  6. Interest rates on loans(bond sales) for broke/insolvent gov’t are escalating, – can higher interest rates for everyone be far behind? Is this how IR are really set? – not by politicians.

  7. If higher interest rates are ahead what can be expected? What/who do higher IR nail/benefit?

  8. Uh-oh. Liberals want us to model those uber-smart Euros who ‘know how to live and enjoy life’ – unlike their nasty neighbours here in North America…(unlike Liberals apparently…)

  9. Liquidity is key these days, years – perhaps a decade. You heard it first here, heh.

  10. Let me guess, does the Kate’s Little Red Hen buy supplies from the CWB or direct from the farmer?
Oh wait, that legislation passes sometime before Christmas.
So now we have another European credit crisis, but instead of the landed gentry of 1905, we have the Eurocrats who deserve their socialist sinecures.
The more things change the more they stay the same. A trillion here a trillion there, pretty soon it adds up to real money.
What everyone wants to know is how much the Little Red Hen’s bread is going to cost. According to my grandmother in 1923 it was 4 Billion Reichmarks, in 2013 it should be…?
Oh a leveraged 10 to 1 stabilization fund of 2.5 trillion ought to do the trick.
    Cheers

  11. If this is all true ..why is silver and gold at a one-two year low right now? And should i buy more or should i buy a cabin or shouldi not do anything and just sit and wait?

  12. “Liquidity is key these days, years – perhaps a decade.”
With the polar ice caps melting and ocean levels rising, liquidity should not be a problem 😉

Paul, honest to god, you worry too much. Gold , silver and real estate are all in a bubble at this time. If the EU collapses gold/silver will climb higher. Possibly $1900 – 2000. If the EU pulls through with a logical plan gold/silver will drop further, possibly $1400 – 1500. So much depends on whether Obama is re-elected. If he is then gold will spike again. If not and the GOP actually tackles the debt it will drop. If we invade Iran it will go up. If the US unemployment rate drops it will go down. If we have peace in the world (Ha) gold will go under $1000.
I could go on all night, but see how simple this is ?
Pay your bills, stock up on emergency supplies and keep your money under your mattress. And for heavens sake stop worrying. These are still the good times.

Almost forgot. Make sure you actually buy the silver, not some piece of paper that says you own it. Very important.

  15. oh no i would never do that ,i have the actual coins i nmy house.
Sorry peter the only reason i am asking is we want to buy a cabin on the lake but we are soo worried about doing so. but i think we will anyway because no matterwhat we can afford the cabin and still have money left over each month.
    No Risk NO reward.
Obama will NOT be re elected i can assure you but wil romney take over his reins or will there be someone else who will change the course of america , as far as i can see the only ones that stand out for me are cain , santorum, bachmann, gingrich. the rest are all obmama light.
At least newt and bachmann and cain have al stood agains illegal immigration and been vocal abouti t.

  16. @paul in calgary
Good for you. Buy the Cabin. Any lake side property will always be a better investment in the long run than most other things.
Personally I hope Ron Paul wins. Long shot.

  17. Apropos of Europe foundering, guess what country is embarking on a major, crash campaign of re-militarization?
    Canada.
And not a moment too soon, you ask me. We’re going to be the last man standing, might need to shoot some wolves.

  18. Buy ammo, booze, food by the case. (saves fuel)
Turn on the tv, and watch the talking heads explode. Great fun!!
