Here’s a short video I put together of the area in Dallas where Kennedy was shot. Eerie place.

Lest we forget what?
No disrespect for the dead but I’ll take a pass.
FYI, the Wikipedia entry for Minsk trumpets the fact that Oswald lived there for a time after his defection from the US.
I never was a big fan of JFK. However I remember the day well. Three other fellows in the office and I were playing euchre during our lunch hour and had the radio on.
Let us indeed remember the 48th anniversary of the deaths of C.S Lewis and Aldous Huxley.
‘Twas the end of the beginning of Camelsnot.
Of course the official version of events is true, that’s why they’ve sealed the results of the investigation till 2028.
Nope, nothing to hide at all, move along now….
Actually it was the end of the echo of the American Republic. Which started to end with FDR’s vision of a Super Corporate State, run by big Government regulation. Before welfare took over self reliance. The State took over education, hospitals, finance , from private hands. Into an Elite.
Deadman you beat me to it. In my mind C.S,Lewis was a far more important and influential man then JFK ever was.
Ken; I would think you have used a 30/30 bolt, I agree I thought and still do think that family is corrupt from rum runnin Joe right up to the current water alliance dolts with the last name Kennedy, but after standing in that museum in Dallas, and looking down from almost the same place that Oswald was at, through the trees and the angle and distance, I found it hard to believe that a guy could get 3 shots off, and hit that precise with a bolt action. I like to think I am a gophers worst enemy, but that was quite a feat they said Oswald did, if he did, he was a quick and accurate shot. I think there were more involved but it doesn’t matter now, Grade 1 seems so far away now, but I will never forget that day.
I am not a conspiracy theorist or fan but….
Anyone who has ever worked the action of an Italian Manlichter Carcarno(the alleged rifle) would know that with the sticky, jamming bolt,(a design fault…not fixable) that Oswald’s alleged feat is simply not possible from a practical standpoint….
And then there is that “magic” bullet….that dog don’t hunt…
2028…don’t hold your breath….the scuttlebutt is that the documents were shredded/burned at the time….people too….
The findings of the Warren Commission are in the National Archives with some sealed till 2028, yeah they’re there.
From comments I made on Reader Tips yesterday:
The other man who died on this day — and whose death is largely forgotten because he died the same day that Kennedy was assassinated — is Clive Staples Lewis, the author of the Narnia series and countless Christian apologetics (readable!) for adults such as Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, and The Space Trilogy: Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength.
I maintain that C.S. Lewis will have a much more lasting and positive effect on mankind than J.F.K.. In fact, J.F.K.’s “Camelot” has been proven to be a cynical and tawdry facade for what was really going on in his presidency and in his marriage.
It is interesting to ponder what JFK’s legacy would have been but for his untimely demise. I suspect that most of his aura is as a result of that.
I have never fired a Mannlicher military rifle before, but their sporting arms are considered some of the finest ever made. Don’t forget that Oswald had been a Marine, as such he should have been well trained with a rifle.
I am not one for conspiracy theories, but the whole affair does seem rather odd.
I could not have said it better myself, one thing I will add, “JFK = Overrated”

i was 7yrs old in school at Victoria Public in Owen Sound ontario, I can remember the announcement over the pa system from the principle that classed were suspended & all children were to go home. I only lived 1 block from my school & arrived home & my mother was sitting on the couch watching the TV.
I of course did not fully understand what was going on But i do remember my mother crying.
I should note we only had 2 channels cknx wingham & ckco kitchener.
I have no doubt that a 6.5 mm FMJ bullet could go through two people – neck, chest, arm, leg, without major damage. The bullet was bent when viewed from one angle so it wasn’t exactly ‘pristine’ as they described it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if LBJ had a hand in it. Probably the most corrupt politician in U.S. history up until 2008.
that Italian piece of junk did not do the dirty deed, and Oswald was only an average shot
178 gn bullet at about 1800 – 2000 fps performed no magic
Clayton Ruby (rubenstein)was a small time chicago hood who had his arse bailed out by Nixon in 1947
also there are atleast a dosen conffessions of one short or another pertaining to this, one even an addmitted shooter
A family who made there millions criminally.
I will admit he said:
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

Hunt one down at a gunshow and work the action…or just ask the exhibitor…if you find anyone willing to display one….
Mannlichter is generally considered Austrian….not that piece of Italian, Mussulini fascist, military issue junk….that Italian troops threw away…
The Mannlichter Carcarno was dirt cheap…that’s why Oswalt had one….It made the Ross Rifle look good.
Watch any video of this and you can clearly see the driver turn around and pop one off at jfk. Pistol flash and all.
JFK was the Obama of his day. Screwed up everything he touched. Even all the laws in advancement of civil rights credited to him were actually passed by Lyndon Johnson, a Texas good-old-boy. JFK started the Vietnam War, abandoned his Cuban allies at the Bay of Pigs, and took the world to the brink of nuclear war.
The odd thing about the Carcano was that it was bought by mail order, the only traceable way to buy a gun in 1963. At the time a gun could be bought at any gun shop in the US without ID or having the transaction recorded or reported at all. Typically the last place for someone with criminal intent to buy a gun would be mail order.
Truly, I think the leaders of the idiot NDP party tried a Jack Layton Camelot theme!
To some degree American society does not transcend the Hollywood image. The rise of JFK was plotted to the extent of stealing the election away from Nixon. And people wondered why Nixon dwelt on conspiracy. One of the few ggod things about JFK was he was a WWII vet. I’m sure that fact made the Commies think twice.
Thought to mention the interview of PM John Turner on the Agenda 11/22nd.
The old boy hasn’t aged well but still sharp observations. Suggested the rebuild of the Libel Party will take a generation from the ground up.
My reason for posting was his comments about dealing with Nixon as he took the point because the Americans didn’t like or trust Trudeau. Turner’s comment was that Nixon was the best briefed and knowledgeable President he ever dealt with. He also stated that a hand shake was like a contract.
Kate should post that video. It sure indicates how far we have all fallen!
I’ll give him credit for the moon landing. The rest of his legacy is best forgotten. I was in eighth grade. They were so proud. He was a Catholic when that was supposed to mean something.
I wonder what history would be had the election not been stolen for him. Would Nixon have died instead? Would we have had Vietnam? Would the earlier Nixon have gone to China? Would we have had LBJ and the Great Society?
Oh come one, peeps. This isn’t about the Kennedy presidency, his legacy or his private life. In the 235 years that America has been an independent country, there have been “only” four (if my memory of what I’ve read serves me well) presidents assassinated.
This one was heard around the world in an instant. This one happened at the height of the Cold War. It was an assassination that had global and historical import. The President of the leading country in the free world had been murdered.
As for where I was and what I was doing? I was in my home room at high school, along with all my classmates when the science teacher poked his head in the door and told us the news. Everyone in the room was stunned. Bear in mind that this was in a small town in nowheresville, Saskatchewan, but everyone in that room understood the global importance of this event and by the looks on everyone’s face, there was an undercurrent of dread in our minds.
The only comparable event(s) that I can think of is 9/11 and/or maybe the landing on the moon in 1969.
Well said,Louise,my own experience on Nov.22nd/’63 was similar.
I remember a year or so afterward, the British Army tried to simulate Oswald’s feat using their top riflemen, using the identical rifle.
None could do what Oswald had done. Most couldn’t even fire three shots as fast, let alone actually hit anything.
I read a book a few years back on the JFK assassination, different theory.
The author claimed that Oswald’s shots caused a panic among the Security men surrounding the President, and the actual fatal shot was fired accidentally by one of the Security service men sitting on the back of the car following Kennedy’s car.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist either, but am extremely frustrated by the Warren’ Commission’s findings being kept secret until 2028,by which year I will undoubtedly be pushing up daisies.
My own theory is that the same guys who faked the moon landings, and attacked Pearl Harbour, then blamed it on the Japanese, and faked the Holocaust in World War 2,followed by 9-11,were behind the whole thing.
You know,The JOOOOS!
Not much surprises me any more.
But a school in Owen Sound sent the kids home when JFK was killed?
The biggest shock watching live coverage was seeing Oswald shot while surrounded by police.
gellen, I remember the day of the funeral, a television was set up in the school gym and the entire student body was herded into the gym to watch it. The teachers certainly understood this was a historically significant event.
I’ve often contemplated that if that sort of reaction could take place in a small town high school in the middle of nowhere in a forgotten province of a foreign country, the implications of assassination of this man must have been understood world-wide. Does anyone else have memories of an entire student body being taken to the school gym to watch a funeral of any political figure since then? Has there been a political assassination with implications of that magnitude anywhere in the world since then?
Sending kids home is a no-no, Louise. Assassination of an American President or not.
The mothers are at work. Do you know how many parents would have to be contacted to make that gesture possible?
At that time I was working for an American-owned company and life continued as usual. We grabbed a few minutes to listen to it on the radio. We were working on an anti-submarine warfare device at the time.
gellen
I do not question Louise recollection at all.
I am guessing that the “faculty” of that Owen Sound school were cheering for the LIBRANOs of that era.
As far as sending the kids home…it was a much different era….kids still walked to school…
I recall that year purchasing a rifle from a used shop….heading back to catch the bus home with it slung on my shoulder and no body blinked…the bus driver’s only comment was that it was a Mossberg…he was a Remington fan….
I visited the very site, actually stood in the window near the one where Oswald shot Kennedy. (The original is covered with plexiglass.)
Very touching–thanks Robert.
Sasquatch: It wasn’t Louise’s recollection.
Anyway, re sending pupils home: I was secty at a p.s. from 1966 on and believe me, we did not send children home from school without first telephoning.
And I would have had to dial all those numbers.
Does anyone else remember that for the longest time afterwards the theory of Soviet involvement in the assassination was front and centre? The theory focused particularly on Oswald’s background and his connections with the USSR. There were even theories that Oswald was killed so the connections with the Soviet Union would not be uncovered. I wonder if we’ll ever see that theme finally put to rest with convincing proof, one way or the other?
Lest we forget what?
