Gerard at American Digest Sidelines nominates as his Comment of the Month this post by “twolaneflash”:
“Inept bumblers or cunning destroyers? I believe the latter. Their ‘audacity’ has allowed them to ‘fundamentally change’ America, shred The Constitution, and start a class and race war that threatens the peace of cities across the country. Their destruction of the bedrock beliefs and institutions that make America exceptional is without parallel in our history. Their open and arrogant pillage of public and private treasure is a felony, an ongoing criminal conspiracy. This fascist crowd has gained power, has a plan to take away individual liberties, and has critically wounded The Republic. The hands of thousands of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrns have guided the Marxist brainwashing of America’s children for several decades, making them useful tools for ‘hope and change’. Moral decay has been swallowed as entertainment, and has been used to promote hatred of our nation, our laws, our morality. What passes for news reaches for ever-lower levels of degradation and preaches a mind-warping leftist dogma. The future looks pretty bleak for those who love their freedom, rather than the soft enslavement of a government dependent. Recovery will require fierce, aggressive patriotic Americans with the will, moral certainty, and strength of character to bring The Republic back to health. Those patriots are not to be found in any of the three branches of government. Throw them all out.”
I’ve heard a lot of stupidity from the occubots in the last few weeks, and I’ve heard a lot of stupidity from lawyers over the years, but this one is pretty much overreaching stupidity:
“During the first half of a hearing to determine whether the city can legally force the protesters out of St. James Park, lawyer Susan Ursel called the campsite a fundamental piece of the group’s movement — a “physical manifestation” of the idea that a different, more equitable type of society is possible.
Ms. Ursel said the Occupy case was different because the tent city has become central to the group’s mandate for social change and the “permanence” of their convictions.
“It is a manifestation of what they are trying to create in the world,” she said, noting the park was located near the target of the group’s discontent, the financial district.”
If dirty destroyed parks, rampant disease and filth, sexual assaults, and open illicit drug use are “a manifestation of what they are trying to create in the world”, dear God help us.
Unfortunately for her clients, and fortunately for the rest of us, she is up against that rarest of beasts: a sane judge.

EBD, your comment at 9:59 quoting twolaneflash’s post makes me sad, as I have some idea what we are in for if this comes to pass. He is right “The future looks pretty bleak for those who love their freedom”. Another post on that site mentions civil war.

Re comments by felis corpulentis (hi, BTW!) @ 10:53 PM on the tent city (sic) at St. James Park:
I wonder just how credible lawyer Susan Ursel’s comment about the campsite’s being a fundamental piece of the group’s movement — a “physical manifestation” of the idea that a different, more equitable type of society is possible?
A couple of nights ago (well, early mornings ago @ 4:00 a.m.), Ezra Levant of SunTV/The Source, took a gander at the tents in the squatter city with a heat-sensing, infra-red camera (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljQd_pfykV8).
What he found was that over 90% of the tents were empty — which rather leaves Ms. Ursel’s fatuous argument empty as well. I hope the judge is made aware of this farce. This ain’t no tent city, it’s a smelly theme park for the union thugs to promote their anarchist fantasies.
Because most of the tents at St. James Park are unoccupied the motley crew that remains can’t credibly be called Occupy Toronto anymore and Susan Ursel, poor useful idiot that she is, can’t with any credibility argue for the “physical manifestation” of the occupiers’ “different ideas” for society.
Occupy Toronto has become an empty gesture that can in no way be defended. As others have pointed out, empty tents don’t have human rights — and neither does the absence of humans in the park. Where there are no humans, there are no rights to defend.
I’m expecting the squatters’ tent city to be ordered to be dismantled on Monday. If it’s not, the law’s an ass — and the rights of the rest of us are being trampled on.

“Alaska’s Brutal Cold Reaches Historical Status”
“Frigid temperatures are not uncommon in Alaska this time of year, but the brutal cold currently gripping Fairbanks has reached a historical status.
This morning marked the fifth consecutive day that temperatures dipped to or past 35 below zero in Fairbanks.
Never before since record-keeping began in 1904 has Fairbanks endured such a streak so early in the winter season. The previous record was only two consecutive days in 1989.
“The coldest morning so far this month in Fairbanks was Thursday with a low of 41 below zero.
The last time Fairbanks recorded a November temperature reading of 40 below zero or colder was back in 1994.
It is not just the overnights that have been brutally cold, but also the daytime hours.”

“A gun collector who was arrested outside his east-end apartment during a

removed from his Beaches home at gunpoint wearing only his underwear during
the May, 2008, seizure of about 120 legally collected firearms. “I was

he told The Globe and Mail. “I could see guns pointed at me. . . . I totally

“As we sprinted across Moammar Gadhafi’s front lawn, we had to swerve to avoid the camels.
It was a bizarre obstacle course: dozens of the ungainly creatures, sitting, standing, and yes, fornicating.
It was December, 2004. Our media bus holding a dozen journalists, cameramen and photographers had been delayed after taking a wrong turn on the way in from the Tripoli Airport. Then-prime minister Paul Martin was already in the Bedouin tent inside the compound that the Libyan leader still calls home. If we didn’t hustle, we’d miss the one photo-op: a brief handshake.
As we jumped off the bus, Alphee Moreau, the PMO’s advance man at the time, shouted: “Run! Run! Be careful, the camels are dangerous!”

Knight 99 @12:53
Yes, this police state style raid is a Canadian story made “legal” by Canada’s Firearms Act and Regulations.
The civilian disarmament program of the federal government follows logically, in a legal sense, from certain premises.
Simple acquisition of a firearm was made criminally suspicious, phased in from (C-17-1991), to simple possession being made an actual criminal offence in(C-68, 1995) in effective January 1, 2001.
Thus once simply possessing a firearm was made a criminal offence, inherently classed as a pubic danger, then the more firearms possessed, the more public danger.
Hence, firearms collectors are the first major target of the civilian disarmament program. The police and “the consenus media” often refer to them as having an “arsenal”.
Once, the collectors are eliminated, the state will turn to those with “Restricted” firearms: handguns and “scary” rifles and shotguns.
Then those possessing the “sniper” rifles will be next, as any big game hunting or long range varmint rifle qualifies, that will be done one model at a time.
A Possession Licence and an application record for a big game licence will be enough target for a raid, afterall the 43 pages of regulations will find an excuse for a warrant somewhere.
None of this changes with the repeal of the registration of most rifles and shotguns. The possession licence is what made 3 to 5 million ordinary Canadians into criminals.
Those that opted not to licence(register themselves with the government for 24/7 intrusion) left less than 1.8 million. Whittling that down scapegoating each “scary” gun at a time was and continues to be Ottawa’s longer term goal.
Any police CPIC check will bring up the P.A.L. licence. After 20 years of indoctrination, many police see this as a flashing red light, e.i. Ottawa police recently issued a notice they’d be targeting hunters in areas around the city for “checks”.
For those fortunate enough not to be convicted, the legal fees will be enough to bankrupt most ordinary people.
Prior to C-68, Canada’s Criminal Code contained a “firearms commonly used for sporting purposes” could not be classified
as Restricted or Prohibited. That the Harper Conservatives policy is to not to reinstate that protection, shows their long term disarmament policy, while slower, is the same goal as that of Kim Campbell/Mulroney and Alan Rock/Chretien governments.
and they expect us to believe the ‘global warming’ foolishness ? from these ‘scientists’ ?
…A meeting of 21 scientists in Parma, Italy, concluded that reduced water content in the body was a symptom of dehydration and not something that drinking water could subsequently control…
http://www.independent.ie/world-news/europe/looney-rules-eu-bans-claim-that-water-can-prevent-dehydration-2939196.html
BRUSSELS bureaucrats have been ridiculed after banning drink manufacturers from claiming that water can prevent dehydration.
EU officials concluded that, following a three-year investigation, there was no evidence to prove the previously undisputed fact.
Producers of bottled water are now forbidden by law from making the claim and will face a two-year jail sentence if they defy the edict.
Health guidelines state clearly that drinking water helps avoid dehydration, and that people should drink at least 1.2 litres per day.
Great comment by notoccupy2 over at BCF re lawyer Susan Ursel and her “compassion” for the “physical manifestation” of the Occupiers’ (sic) ideas for a more equitable society:
Lawyer Susan Ursel has suggested that if she loses the case to keep the campers in the park she will be permitting them to stay in the front yard of her exclusive Teddington Park residence just a 5 minute walk from the Rosedale Golf and Country Club. The address is 30 Roslin Avenue, north west of Yonge and Lawrence.

And the great folk icon Bob Dylan (real name Robert Zimmerman) the son of Russian Jewish immigrants, also spoke out against Soviet Communism. But the fact is rarely mentioned by the commies in Hollywood when they eulogize Dylan in documentaries.
And of course the Hollywood Left practically disparaged Dylan — and his career took a serious nose dive — when he converted to Christianity and produced some excellent Gospel-based folk tunes. The Hollywood atheists also fail to mention that even before he converted, much of Dylan’s lyrics and music was already inspired by the Bible — if listen closely you will recognize numerous quotations from the Jewish Torah.
I’m not familiar with Dylan’s political leanings these days, but methinks he probably would not support the Left’s romance with the terrorist Hamas either. It wouldn’t surprise me if Dylan is a Zionist.
Ricardo (4:52): “It wouldn’t surprise me if Dylan is a Zionist.”
He is indeed unabashedly pro-Israel. His view on (modern) unions doesn’t fit the leftist worldview either, to put it mildly.
