“george says… Canadians tend to view Occupy protests in positive light: poll”
maybe the question should have been…
“Would you take any one of these smelly, semi-professional miscreants
home to have dinner with your family?”

So one of anonymous Cain accusers is coming forward. She works for Obama and her son works for Politico. That’s sloppy as hell if you ask me.
Live to work
The debt mess in Europe, and America, with the ever-present threat of economic meltdown, belongs to that class of news stories which are boring, but important. In a sense, the sometimes violent “Occupy” protesters, in both their American and European manifestations, provide some light relief.

Looks like the US is preparing for a national emergency – not just state or regional. First test of it’s kind in US History. Something must be up.

“Stop funding environmental groups — now!”
“Politicians of all stripes are wringing their hands these days, trying to find ways to cut budgets without hurting services.
A quick surf through government websites shows where this province can save hundreds of thousands of dollars: Cut off funding to environmental groups such as the David Suzuki Foundation — and a raft of other organizations that are big on fancy names, but thin on details.
Oh, sure. I can hear the weeping and gnashing of teeth. Trees will go unhugged. Unloved whales will wash up on our shores. Civilization as we know it will end.
Take a look at how deep the eco trough runs.
On the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation (FOGF) website, we learn that the David Suzuki Foundation received $120,000 in 2007 and $100,000 in 2009. The 2007 grant is for the DSF to “complete an economic assessment of the non-market value of the Greenbelt’s natural capital or ‘ecological goods and services,’ providing an economic rationale for maintaining the Greenbelt in the Ontario landscape permanently.”
Whatever that means.
As for the 2009 cheque: “DSF is reaching out to governments and industry leaders to foster political and private sector support for enhancing the value of ecological services in the Greenbelt and better protecting its natural resources,” according to the website.
The DSF also received between $100,000 and $250,000 from the government-affiliated Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2010.
Another group, Environmental Defence, has received $1.6 million from FOGF. In June 2006, they received $600,000.”

Gleenings, er Gleedings, flom Red China.
Gleed here: “Attempting to force countries into squandering billions on fake offsets that actually increase production of greenhouse gases is extortion,” said Samuel LaBudde, senior atmospheric campaigner with the Environmental Investigation Agency. “China is not the victim here, and a world order responsive to climate change cannot be predicated on unrepentant greed.”

“Green group accuses China of climate blackmail”
“The row over hydrofluorocarbon-23 offsets has intensified before international climate negotiations in Durban this month”
“An environmental group has accused China of climate blackmail after threats to vent powerful greenhouse gases if Europe cuts off carbon credits next year. The row over hydrofluorocarbon-23 offsets – which have a much greater warming effect than carbon dioxide and linger in the atmosphere for 200 years – has intensified before international climate negotiations in Durban this month.
Since 2005, Chinese firms have received the bulk of the $6bn in carbon credits for the reduction of these gases, which are produced in the manufacturing of refrigerant chemicals. The money has mostly come from European firms that have bought the offsets under the clean development mechanism, but this source of funding will come to an end next year. The EU has banned HFC-23 offsets because they are inefficient: the value of credits is 70 times the cost of destroying HFC-23 gases.”
