    Brings back some fond memories, too be sure. Nothing has changed with commonsense verses the Liberal mental illness, except who’s in charge and running things today. Ask Pelosie, she was the rolemodel for this young actress.

  6. The battle older than we think. It certainly stretches back to the 50’s and the Beat Movement…which was about a lot of things (some interesting) but this kind of thing is one of them.
    There was a follow up book to The Organization Man that tracked the kids of the original “Organization Men”. One of the trends identified was “The Cult of The Artist”. Essentially that being an artist as career path, on par (in form not morality) with traditional jobs was this emerging trend. in other words, the idea that being Lady Gaga was something you could go to school for and work up a ladder at, or that all jobs had to have an artistic element to them.
    This isnt to disparage the arts or artists or even the fact that you can make a good living in the “arts industry”. Just that, like the OWS protestor who took on $35 grand in debt to get a puppetry degree, personal desires for artistic self actualization through a career exceed the practicality of feeding oneself in most cases. It isnt for everyone, nor should it be.

  12. Actually there are less of them now ….. they are just more obnoxious…. and used to getting a free pass on everything.
    This stereotype character from the 70s is built on the common perception about 60s burnout hippy moochers … most people were not shy about mocking the losers. Hence a Rockford episode with a dipshit character getting the treatment.
    Today …. and for most of the last 30 years … it’s been the increasing PeeCeee pressure to shut up that has most people just biting their tongues.
    The sanctimonious progs and alternative lifestyles bunch just get away with it.
