    We met an approximately 40 year old recent Ukrainian immigrant in Saskatoon yesterday. She is a cheerful person and happy to be here and is working at a job usually filled by part time youth. There are truck driver wanted signs all over in the industrial area.

  8. The trouble with clearing them out with water cannon or just driving them out would probably be exactly what they want. Then the violence would begin and “police brutality” “just like the G20” would be raised. Let them wallow in their own filth for as long as it takes for the cold weather to settle in and they’ll all run home to mommy. As far as the chanting goes, mindlessness is the perfect description. Ezra’s video is fantastic as they chant right along with him. Priceless. Such a waste of energy that could be put to productive use.

  13. This ‘chanting’ is a way of AMPLIFYING the speaker’s voice WITHOUT using an electronic amplifier. In some cities, there are bylaws that forbid the use of megaphones and electronic means of amplifying one’s voice. So, the People’s microphone is used.     With the invention of the 24hr news channel they live for this kind of continuing story to fill the hours of airtime.
    The left wing media salivate over stories like this since they can be used to make the Conservative government look bad.
    For Sun Media their commentators are just having too much fun poking fun at and being sarcastic toward the protesters to ignore them.
    I agree with the one comment that all we need to do is wait for winter to hit which will solve the problem, at least in Canada.

  16. Screw them. I am the 99%. I work. I pay taxes. I paid back my student loans. I expect very little out of government. When I was going to get downsized ten years ago I started my own company. I employ people.
    I am the 99%. This crew are the small, loud minority of idiots who have an entitlement syndrome. I’m not them.
    Among the many things that are remarkably annoying about this whole thing, is the complete misunderstanding about wealth. It isn’t a zero sum game. Because a banker makes (takes, steals, whatever) $1M a year doesn’t affect my income, or my worth. That is determined by what I do, how hard I work, how successful I am. It’s on me. And if that banker or lawyer makes tens times as much as he does, or ten times less, it will not affect either my earning power, my net worth, or, more importantly, my self worth. Frankly, I don’t give a rats ass how much the top 100 earners are making. I know what I earn, and I am OK with it. If I want more I’ll work harder or get luckier.
    Screw all these people, I’ve had enough of them to last a lifetime.

    As an experiment I watched an hour of CBC last night, they are simply gleeful with this anarchist idiocy reporting with lots of close up shots (no panning of the camera back to see the actual pathetic gatherings), and even a few flash funky shots like an MTV documentary to make it look like some sort of cool rock festival.
    Of course there was lots of obligatory Harper bashing, and the usual Liberal/ NDP trolls getting the spotlight without any conservative counterbalance.
    We pay over a billion dollars a year for this leftist propaganda crap, what do these non capitalist CBC state employees make anyway? Do the OWS /OBS people agree that they are fairly paid?

    People wonder how these young students seem so stupid. The education system is to blame, just check out any social studies curriculum and you will find that socialism is highly praised while greedy capitalism (liberty) is derided.
    We, the citizens of Canada however, are to blame for allowing the education system to become so toxic.
    Now you might think our education system should be embarrased by the ignorance of their charges. You will be disappointed. This is an example of the system’s push of “critical thinking”, which is the Orwellian ability to discard reality in favour of PC pronouncements.
    I would love to see the protestors state where they went to school so that we can mercilessly mock those institutions of lower learning.

    Until we have true Conservatism (Not the current Red Harper Tories) in Canada, don’t hold your breath about the CBC dissapearing anytime soon…See, they are too big a Government apparatus to dismantle anymore, compared to say, the long gun registry and look how long and how much effort it took to scrap it…Is it even scrapped yet? Or is it being slowly phased out?.
    The CBC would be a vote killer to scrap as anybody would be accused of creating “unemployment” if they did.
    The best we can expect is a slow chocking of funds until it dissapears or it privatizes itself.

  23. I’m assuming the majority of these clowns that are settled in their tents are collecting some form of government assistance. Like employment insurance?? Unless pogey’s changed in the 35 years that I used it they have to be looking for work and prove that they are. No? Then cut them off! Maybe a few pictures sent to E.I. would hurry the process. Give CBC a new angle to report on the “victims”.

    We had very different opinions about the situation.
    He started projecting what he thought I might feel like doing to the protestors to get rid of them.

  37. What interests me the most is who is behind this whole OWS movement? It’s clear that the vast majority of people attending these events couldn’t organize getting people out of an empty room with the exit door wide open. With externally programmable androids being in short supply, someone has utilized this heretofore unknown under-stratum of society to simply provide warm bodies to take up space in cities. Get a strong flash to some of Neal Stephenson’s social groupings from The Diamond Age and he’d probably call them the echolaliacs. OTOH, they could be the burned out brains that Philip K. Dick described as the end result of overindulgance in “Substance D” in A Scanner Darkly. That I’m only able to find sufficiently weird examples in SF novels tells me that either:
    (a) we’re witnessing a novel type of psychopathology
    (b) the protests are a smoke screen for something else and are designed as a distraction.
    While I can’t say that I’ve plumbed the full depths of human psychopathology during my medical career, I’ve never known individuals to congregate in groups and engage in mass echolalia. Usually echolalia is associated with brain damage. What is far more likely is that someone became aware of this mass of non-thinking humanoids and knew the right verbal triggers to incite flocking behavior in this group. The level of intellect that I’ve seen in presumably randomly selected specimens of echolalians seems to be quite low. What remains to be discovered is whether this is another Soros plot to make yet more money or whether this is the DemocRat’s trying to divert attention from BO’s failures.

    In most cities there are laws that forbid the occupation of parks and other public properties too. Why would they care about avoiding megaphones?

    The people have to repeat what the speaker says. And in doing so they have to at some level support what is being said and become part of it.
    So when the speaker supports, unions, socialism, free sex, and sex with animals, everybody has to say it and support it.
