  1. I’m warm and dry, have money in my pocket, food in the fridge, nobody is shooting at me and when I look out the window it’s a beautiful fall scene.
    Life is good. Thanks Canada,
    Pat in Powell River

  2. Ditto, Pat. What a wonderful place to live> We do a lot of bitching but you can’t beat this country anywhere.

  3. It’s been a great weekend so far. On Saturday we went down to Fort Edmonton Park to walk across the new footbridge and explore the trails on the north side of the river, and we gave thanks to the corporations that built the bridge so that we wouldn’t have to swim across the river. Sunday we went to the Valley Zoo to visit Lucy and gave thanks to the people who prevented the PETA fools who tried to take her away from us. Today we’re going to see the new orchid display at the Muttart. As far as I know, there aren’t any smelly hippies occupying Churchill Square. I guess they all headed to Vancouver when it got colder here, to finish the job that they started last spring. Happy Thanksgiving to all SDAers.

  4. Thanks Robert for posting the national anthem.
I am thankful for the political and personal freedoms, including freedom to worship and prosperity that Canada gave my and my wife’s family, although it saddens me that our extended families had to endure so much suffering in the old country.
Even though there is a blip in the peace at the moment, as I alluded to in the “sex wars” thread, it appears that is being dealt with by the authorities and not just being swept under the bridge. (Don’t let your children or grandchildren go the washroom unattended, no matter what.

  5. Good one,Pat, I feel the same way. Just wish we had the salmon fishing here in the Okanagan that you do in Powell River! 😉
Happy Thanksgiving to all here, and you too, gunney99. 🙂

  6. I have been here at beautifull Commanda Lake a little south west of North Bay Ont for the last five weeks.
Right now, 3:54 pm est it’s 23 and sunny, am about to go for a swim.
I came to watch over a friends resort while they were away, had 14 members of a film crew staying here, making a movie, pretending this community is in Nova Scotia, filming all around the local area, James Crawford stayed in cottage 1, the other stars stayed in North bay and other resorts nearby.
Everyone had a great time the weather held up just fine.
    Right now life is good…
There’s MUCH to be thankfull for.!
    Happy thanksgiving everyone.!

  7. It is the best country in the world, glad for that.
Even mcguinty can’t screw up this wonderful weather: lots of bike riding, motorcycle riding and running. I’m tired but thankful for good health. Maybe I’ll lay down and rest my eyes…

  8. Turkey roasting right now. 12 year old in the finals in Abbotsford hockey tourney. 9 year old has hockey practise at 5. Dinner 7ish. — everyone will have a good appetite by then. Life is good! So thankful every day for this country we live in.

  9. Even living in Bantario, one can forget his woes on this wonderful weekend.
“God our Maker doth provide, all our wants to be supplied”.
While we should celebrate the bounty that we enjoy, I believe we should also celebrate the lives of our ancestors who emigrated to this country and made it all possible.

  10. Agreed all . . . so wonderful to live in Canada.
Keep up the good fight to keep Canada great.
Fight the socialist, eco-greenies, & liberal whackos at every turn & time.

  11. Four days of warm sunny 20+ and more to come here in Halifax. There is turkey in my belly, a roof over my head, a wife & kids who love me. Sometimes you have to stop acting like Wall Street protestors and give thanks for what you have.
Happy Thanksgiving to the Kate and gang of usual suspects who banter and dialogue here.

  12. So much to be thankful for!
fiddle, we give thanks to God our Creator and Saviour.
William in Ajax…My son was a camera assistant on that film…it’s going to be a great movie, based on a true story of an elderly guy that is harrassed by beaurocrats. Watch for “Still” this time next year.
I thank God for Global Warming!! Didn’t hear any fears this w/e as the temperature soared in Northern Ontario and families spent the day at the beach or had turkey and trimmings on the deck…it has been lovely!

  13. We are so blessed!
I hope everybody gives pause to appreciate our bounty.
And.. where’s Kate? On another travelling doggie competition? If you are, good luck!, but hurry back. It’s not quite the same….

  14. I apologize for including some personal family difficulties in Chilliwack.
The crops and the weather to gather them in most of western Canada are a lot to be thankful for.
    What fiddle said.

  15. Bluetech..
It has been, a glorious global-warming fall here in N Ontario, except the fish aren’t biting.
The “Still” crew had a after-production dinner-party in Arnstein last wk/end, the food was great and it turned into a real local hoedown..great party.
Did your son attend?, ..may have met him.
Correction..James Cromwell stayed here, from my earlier post, Not Crawford…Doh, I just hosted the guy for 4 wks and forgot his name already!
