Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
CBC, Sept 26th – Protest organizer and Greenpeace Canada spokesman Peter McHugh promoted the event as “a historic mass act of civil disobedience over the tarsands,” which also included members from the Council of Canadians.
Parliament Hill webcam, Sept. 26th – 12:43pm

Apparently everyone is sick if hearing about the tarsands. Along with bio, green, sustainable, ethical, diversified, social justice, mental illness, if this post is blathering, now the left knows what they sound like. To all the people thanks for not showing up.
BWA-HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Support for Saudi-funded anti-oilsands propaganda is paper thin and restricted to the hard left who take their marching orders from the nation’s most politically degenerate leadership. I think the web cam caught just about all of them. It’s a shame our media give such a small, demented minority the amount of credibility and publicity the media should reserve for saner more rational voices.
Torstar bills it as “Several hundred people” complete with a photo taken at an angle that seems to be an attempt to misinform.
All those people – almost all reporters and cops, oh the humanity!
Yes, I can see the teaming masses with torchlights and pitchforks storming Parliament, at the thought of cheaper fuel to power their vehicles to work.
So when is the next ‘greeny revolutionary’ going to hurl politicians from the bell tower?
More disposable income in the hands of the masses may, wait for it….create jobs!
My what a revelation, which I may add won’t come from the eco-green freaks!
Looks more like a recent gathering of tourists who just stepped off the bus brandishing those WMDs known as explosive cameras.
Sounds like we should cue the music for “Mission Impossible”…

Yes, Aviator is correct. Probably half the crowd are reporters from the CBC!
A good 20% of that gaggle of civil disobediants look to be Hill security and the media.
I suspect that there at least twice as many police and reporters as there are protestors.
I suspect that there at least twice as many police and reporters as there are protestors.
What a pathetic, self absorbed, pimple on the ass crowd of losers, tree huggers, tofu suckers and assorted Gaia worshiping flotsam of brain dead humanity.
At least they will provide some humor for the rest of us sane people.
200 protestors and the rest are media, wonder how the CTV will report the story? Hundreds of thousand attended, or thousands attended?
I guess it never occurred to the self-absorbed professional malcontents that on a Friday during the day, most normal people are at work.
Maybe they had jobs they needed to be at. 🙂
Maybe they don’t like the oil because we haven’t had a good tussle in almost exactly 200 years?
Dollars to donuts 80% or more of the life forms that did show up were on some form of public grant/stipend, union or pembina institute payroll or similar extortion funded scam.
And they did not ride their bicycle from Chicoutimi, Edmonton, or wherever they usually molder in their parent’s basements.
“I guess it never occurred to the self-absorbed professional malcontents that on a Friday during the day, most normal people are at work.”
I don’t think you have their demographic correctly identified.
I prefer to think of the protestors as The People’s Movement for the Support of Saudi Oil Ticks.
I hope they all walked to the protest.
O Noes break out the tear gas and Tasers, and call the Mounties AND Ranger Rick;
THERE OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL
I was pleasantly surprised that the CBC included Patrick Moore in their coverage:
But in a statement released by the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers Monday, the co-founder of Greenpeace supported the oilsands.
Former leader Patrick Moore, who has written a book on why he left Greenpeace after 15 years, has publicly denounced Greenpeace in the past calling them anti-human and “anti-science.”
“I’ve seen the land reclamation progress at oil sands sites,” said Moore in the statement, “It’s a necessary, staggeringly complex process and evidence shows the land will be reclaimed as thriving ecosystems after oil sands are developed to help meet the world’s growing energy needs.”
Exactly right. If any of you are interested in the oilsands mining and in situ process Suncor, for one, has videos on their website. I wonder how many Green protesters have any idea about the mining process, cycle chemistry, tailings management, reclamation and all of the science and engineering behind it? Few, if any.
I found the water/land reclamation video “Tailings Reduction Operations” quite relevant to Moore’s statement about the “anti-human and “anti-science.” blathering of Green protesters.

I like how one of the revolving ads on the Ottawa Kiosk site that hosts the Parliament Hill webcam is for a “Free Oil Changes For Life!” contest.
How many liberal arts students and other lazy layabouts do you think are in that puny crowd?
Thanks Kate. Picture says it all.
I think that photo was taken just after they said the free coffee and donuts were all gone.
How many of those people are just there hoping to score weed?
@ fred, please do not disrespect the tofu…. its too darn tootin good for those wankers
I would have liked to see a pioc of how many protesters there were when the liberals were shoving the ill conceived Firearms Act down the citizen’s throats. I heard there were thousands. I also heard there were police snipers on the roof of the parliament building in case the law abiding firearms owners got out of hand.
To paraphrase a Rush listener from a few years ago, “If oil is as bad as the environmentalists say it is, you would expect them to want it extracted from the sands as part of an environmental clean up”.
Fred, (12:57), you gotta stop beating around the bush!
Yeah, we can laugh, but the sad thing is, this pathetic little gathering is bigger than any gang that has ever gathered from the pro-tarsands crowd on P-Hill. Or hunters, or loggers, or….
I wonder how these folks all got there.

Look at the date of your post.
Then, look at the date on the video.
What day is it?
We wouldn’t have this problem had the oilsand was located in Quebec.
Elizabeth May for the Green Party plastered her own country canada ignoring other nations that actually pollute the air worse off than canada’s.
Alberta only have to work with other nations for ALBERTA ALONE. The revenues from the oilsands WILL REMAIN IN ALBERTA for Albertans ONLY.
Elizabeth May and the Green peace people who drive fly eat wear oil of sorts proves that they are no more interested in getting rid of the oilsands. How can they, they need the money.
We have to live; our country depends on the oilsands for revenues so that provinces like Quebec continue getting their hand-outs.which Albertan would gladly like to see being ceased.
Dalton has spent his province into a HAVE-NOT PROVINCE with the debt $244.7billion debt looming over the people.
Cut the oilsands and canada falls.
Jamie MacMaster
The pro-Oilsands crowd are assembled and working their butts off at Fort McMurray Alberta.
All the Greenpeace activists you see in that picture are from southern Ontario, Peter McHugh himself is from Toronto.
Just Ontario Lefties trying to keep Albertans down, again.
What’s new is that they’ll be ignored for the next 4 years by the people who work in the building they’re standing in front of.
Oz and Jamie. You’re both right. The only thing oilsands workers and other natural resource workers send to Ottawa is billions of dollars in income tax, business tax, sales taxes, etc.
@Jamie 1:47pm
Could it be because these people actually have jobs and are working for a living? These people show their support for their industries by simply coming to work everyday. They somehow instinctively know travelling to Ottawa is pointless. The webcam on PH seems to be proving them correct.
Better update the photo — much fewer people there now.
One-third of that picture is bemused bureaucrats on their lunch break, one-third is CBC reporters, the remaining third presumably are protesting.
Mr McHugh has an entertainingly atypical definition of ‘mass’.
It appears I could fit (well, stuff) most of those ‘protesters’ in my Suburban as I run down to tank up on hydrocarbons. Not that I’d particularly want them in there. Perhaps a modest-sized utility trailer would be better.
much fewer people there now.

Lunch time.
They’re off to the nearest vegan restaurant where they’ve got seats reserved for nearly have the tables.
The TOP story in today’s Halifax Herald is about the various groups MAKING PREPARATIONS for this protest as in: they’re all set to go. What a bunch of maroons
Actually, that’s a sizeable crowd for the Annual National Apathy Association (NAA) conference.
The coal generating plants are more polluted than the oil sands which so far no protesters are saying anything about it nor are they standing in front of Dalton’s office to demand the ‘shut down’ to the coal plants which he promise to do since 2006.
Where is loudmouth Elizabeth May, the ‘OILSANDS’ basher. I don’t hear her bashing Dalton for failing to shut down the ‘coal plants.’
The lefts garments are becoming pretty tattered.
Almost see through. Their arguments have been proven wrong. Thier stratagies of lies revealed.
Not even the true faithful come out anymore.
No matter how the CBC & other try to make them martyers. What we see are mostly are people with government jobs whinning about somethint they know nothing about. If they got their way from where does the money to pay them? Quite frankly without Alberta & Saskatchewan their little fairy tale World would crumble.
More people show up at my conservative evangelical church every Sunday than there is at this “mass of protest.”
I posted the following on SunTV this morning. Hey protesters. The village called. They want their idiots back.
urr DrD – it is Monday in this part of the world.
But regardless – these idiots are now off to the nearest parliament pub with other past and present supporters of the Green party, union organizers and other assorted hangers on.
Yes, I can see this huge throng of protesters, all dressed in green for the occasion, so densely packed that I can’t tell them apart.
Not sure why the ones on the left and right are not carrying white placards like the others, though.
Protest? I think you’ve got it completely wrong. That’s two bus loads of tourists looking for a washroom.
Yeah, but don’t forget, the real revolutionaries are inside the House.
I guess historic mass acts of civil disobedience just aren’t as large as they used to be. What a scam Greenpeace is.
