  3. The people who work can’t have what folks on welfare take for granted. How long do you think the precived by government as suckers. Working people slaving their lives away giving money to parasites who won’t, last? When you get a better seal being a bum that independant, its alredy to late to stop the collapse.

  7. Exactly Stan, there’s something very wrong with this picture. By definition, a mother on welfare isn’t working and thus has lots of time to spend at home with her child(ren). The truth is that many of these women are working at jobs that pay them in cash and thus they aren’t home to look after their offspring.
    This is just another one of the welfare related anomalies which include the morbidly obese patient on welfare who comes to see me asking for a note for “nutritional supplements” because welfare doesn’t provide enough money for food. They usually get very upset when I tell them their fat stores will last them for a year or more if they stopped eating completely.

    I didn’t think so, sluffing the kid off for 1/2 a day don’t help the kid, being a GOOD parent does help

  12. Oh that’s wonderful, more time for them to cruise the bars to find the next sperm donar for child number five. I hope they get their names so they don’t have to go onto American TV and do shows like “Who’s the father” and test forty guys from the same night and none of them are the dads.

  13. This is happening everywhere whether you realize it or not.
    The state wants welfare kids in day care, in Ontario ALOT of welfare kids are in all day daycare, that way the state can keep a close eye on the children and the parents. They can see the condition of the children daily, know they are getting fed good meals and snacks, watch out for inappropriate bruising, absenteeism, keep track of developmental delays due to neglect, lack of stimulation or the after effects of drug and alcohol while in utero.
    You can have a case where a mom is on welfare, in subsidized housing, full time free day care for her children, being supervised by a protection worker for the kids, a social worker for the mom, a welfare worker and the daycare folks.
    This all in the name of keeping the original family unit intact with “SUPPORTS”.
    Supports all paid for by you and me, I used to be in the protection industry and it is an industry.

    Certainly this is part of the argument. State-run day care in this country provides a strong dose of political socialization along with its dance, math, French, etc. It is that political socialization, rather than the arts and academics, that is more likely to give the children “a better chance in life”.

  16. Freebies like this add to what is referred to as the “welfare trap”, in which a person on assistance who actually finds a job loses so much in extra benefits (free dental care is another) that the effective tax rate is over 100%.

    If they understand the results of their actions, they’ll be far ahead of the politicians who don’t understand the results of spending tax money that people don’t have.

  17. We donated to one of these day-cares – it was private, and the goal was to help pull up poor kids as DR suggests. A quick review of the Fraser Institute stats on schools definitely suggests that the public schools in the area were useless.
    I have no idea if there is any proof for it, and if there was it was likely biased as the single moms sending their kids there were the ones who geniunely cared about the advancement of their kids. I came from a poor family but the presence of a father figure strongly helped me.

  18. And to think that the rationale behind Quebec’s low cost day-care program was to encourage mothers to go to work. This is free baby-sitting, nothing else, courtesy of the hard-working taxpayer.

    I do think some men are deadbeats for sure but to be fair when a man has no say in the survival of HIS child in utero then I have to wonder why they have to belly up to the bar with their wallets just because some wench on a whim decides (against the odds) to actually birth their child.
    To me it is simple, no legal say, no legal pay.
    Women have all the power in the womb, they can also have the responsibility.
