Nathan Kotylak Issues a Public Apology

Remember the now infamous Nathan Kotylak? He issued a public apology today:

Open Questions:
1) Do you believe he’s sincere?
2) Do you sense that him coming forward like this was his own idea?
3) Does this change your views on what punishment he should face?
4) If your answer to #3 is ‘Yes’, what do you think would be a fair punishment for him?

  1. Ezra Levant did a great piece on today’s The Source where he nailed both Nathan Kotylak and his lawyer for that lame-assed apology. Ezra also hammers some of the other miscreants caught on camera. I wonder if sdamatt plans to put the video up on YouTube?
Also, the MSM’s playing down of the rioters’ mayhem is gathering steam. I just heard a CTV reporter referring to the rioters committing “civil disobedience”.

  2. NB, written by me earlier today:
“On that note, the nasty social networking response to Nathan and his family is absolutely unacceptable. Guess what—irony, anyone?–it’s being done by the very same, self-referential brats that Nathan seems to be. These social cretins should be identified and charged with uttering threats, another serious crime. Because, apparently, with the approval of Pollyannas like bob, the ‘authorities’ refuse to mete out serious consequences for serious breaches of civility and respect, we’re raising legions of non-empathetic, entitled, utterly spoiled brats. They don’t only treat law-abiding, responsible citizens with contempt*: they treat each other the very same way. (bob, are you there?) As a friend of mine once expressed it (I was shocked by the idea!), these altogether non-Samaritans wouldn’t cross the street to piss on each other if one of them were on fire. (The difference these days is that they probably set the fire!)”
Ezra has the same take on this, re Nathan.

  3. P.S. bob harangues, “Today on Charles Adler, Charles gave a long dissertation on the amount of hateful commentary directed not only to the young man but also to his parents.
“To the high percentage of you who have excoriated not only Nathan but also his parents . . .”
Most of us have done no such thing. But Nathan’s cohorts probably have, as I’ve noted above.
After giving Charles Adler’s show a really good try, we’re not impressed. We avoid his program but regularly check out Brian Lilley and Ezra.

  4. Lookout – you just keep drinking the kool-aid that matches your dim whit. I want to live in a society that has lots of you in it.
Lets see now, what am I goin to do tuday? Gee maybe I’ll go shoot me some juvenile deeeeelinkwatz! You’re pathetic.

  5. lookout – “WE avoid his program but regularly………………” Just who the hell is “WE”?? Do you have a cult following?

  6. Hear, hear, lookout.
Unfortunately, with the help of bob, ET, etc, the only lesson to be learned is to wear masks … that way, no need to face any music.
At this point, I suspect Nathan has a better grasp of the word consequences, than bob and ET.
I think that Detroit is a caring, progressive city Grey Lady.

  7. “While 95 per cent of respondents in Metro Vancouver want rioters and looters prosecuted “to the full extent of the law,” most believe that the majority of offenders will never be brought to court.”

You a 5%’er? … or someone that thinks that they have a say on what happens in my backyard?

  8. lookout,
re. Charles Adler – you can add me to that “we” who’s not impressed. I liked his radio show and was looking forward to seeing him on SNN but have been very disappointed and no longer watch him.

  9. “Empathy” bob? I’ve asked for your thoughts on that re the astonishing lack shown by those in the mob, and yet you excoriate SDAers for our apparent lack.
Re your ridiculous put-downs of those who disagree with you, I’d infer that your empathy quotient is on the woefully low side. (And most people here seem to disagree with you. Just getting more angry and spluttering doesn’t help your bossy case one bit: you might consider checking out the parable of the mote and the splinter.)
A deal: how about, in civil language, with an explanation, not a mere assertion, you answer my question. Then, although it’s actually none of your business and the answer is inferable from many of my other posts, I’ll answer who “we” is. (Such an important consideration in all of this . . . sheesh!)

  10. a different bob @10:57 – “Just who the hell is “WE”?? Do you have a cult following?”
    Probably she has a family.
I’m not in the “flog ‘im and hang ‘im!” crowd – kind of the opposite, I’m a softy – but still, like, seriously, dude….. could we have the original bob back?

  11. Black Mamba: BINGO. Well done!
I’m not part of the flog/hang crew either. However, I’m most definitely not part of the Pollyanna party either: I’ve spent too much time in the company of entitled bullies—”youts” who are cocks of the walk, and know it.
I can deal with such idiots—I’m logical, feisty, have fine language skills, and am quick on my feet—but I and other teachers like me are no longer allowed to: any “unkind” words, like the sort of tough words (no profanity) I might wish to choose, which are more than justified, are frowned upon. I’m likely to be called into the office, where the miscreants have run to tattle tale: they’re allowed to tattle tale on teachers, and tales are always followed up, especially if the kid’s a viz. min. student. These kids know how to play the system—and the adults—up, down, sideways, and all around.
I’ve dealt with so many Nathans and Camilles—and their excuse-making, belligerent parents—I have very little sympathy for either of them, who are following the “righteous victim” script to a T. (The useful idiots are falling all over them.) As I’ve said, if these kids had had their wings clipped early on—when it’s not very difficult and the consequences are pretty small—they wouldn’t be in the unenviable position they’re in now.
