Terrance, it amazes me that atheists and/or those who knowingly or unknowingly either worship science, evolution, nature/environmentalism, inevitably bring the cruelty of God as the basis for their non-belief, yet completely ignore the calculated coldness of their existence as dictated to them by science, evolution, and/or nature/environmentalism(oft refereed to as Mother Nature.
As merely actors in the universe, humans are considered no different than the expendable crew members on Star-Trek whom we all knew would be knocked off before the episodes end.
Christianity, on the other hand, describes an epic battle between good and evil where God has given his created human beings free will to chose which side we pledge allegiance to in the end.
Science in any form, cannot explain where humans innate desire for utopia (heaven) comes from – the idea of utopia and what it looks like varies, yet the innate desire does not. Unless one is a psychopath, all humans recognize something is wrong with this world we live in and that it needs fixing or at least, improving.
The Bible tells us that God loved us enough to send his own son to die for us so that we could inherit eternal life and finally experience that innate desire for utopia (heaven)which to most is a place of peace, joy and unconditional love with no more sorrow and pain.
The sacrifice of His Son also fulfills the innate human desire for justice – a final judgment day where all wrongs will be righted.
In the case of those who worship environmentalism/mother nature, the existence of humans is analogous with parasites. Mother earth prefers plants and animals over human beings, so much so, that this mother asks her children/parasites to sterilize themselves and kill their offspring as a duty to her, and that is not the only offering she demands. She also wants you to tithe your income to pay for your own genocide for the sake of her beloved plants and animals through carbon taxes, and the obligatory donations to a plethora of environmental groups to save the rain forest, whales, etc. Are you rewarded for your efforts? No, unless you consider giving your rotting corpse back to nature to feed the plants and animals a reward.

Val, the website link you provided seems to be claiming or strongly implying that the writer or host of that blog is the women refereed to in the scripture collage you posted from this blogsite.
She seems to confuse death with hell, and thinks that they are the same thing. She ignores the scriptures that don’t fit her conclusion, specifically the ones that state each persons spirit is eternal. It’s true that we all inherit eternal life; it’s where we chose to spend it that’s at stake, not eternal life itself.
She states – “*Matthew 8:12 “But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth”. Outer darkness is not death it is far from the city of Lights the New Jerusalem. They are the called who professed to know God but that did not become perfect in his love. If outer darkness was death you wouldn’t hear people weeping and gnashing.”
The bottom line is that she claims there is no hell. If that were true, then God need not have given his Son as a sacrifice for our sins and become our savior if there was nothing to be saved from or no sins to cover. It would also mean that sin is of no consequence, and one could then argue further that there is no such thing as sin. Yes God is love, but he is also justice and truth and God takes our sin – against ourselves, him and others very seriously, yet offers us a not only a way out, but a new spirit and a new heart because he is also merciful and compassionate.

Oh come on now folks lets not pick on our resident anti-theist Alex. He, like his hero, Hawking is simply reacting to a given stimulus rather moth to a flame(ish). That being said, has anyone else noticed how the atheist and anti-theists seem to be lacking a certain je ne sais quoi, maybe its a sort of curiosity, or compassion or maybe just plain old understanding or humility. In ways it kind of reminds me of someone keeping their eyes tightly closed so convinced are they that there is nothing to see. Of course I really can’t blame Alex and Hawking have been firmly in their camp. It wasn’t until Someone forced open my eyes that I could see either.
