The First American Prime Minister, At The Ice Hockey Game

We get mail!

Kate, this probably will not be in the media tomorrow about the American Count Iggy’
He attended an Ontario Hockey league play-off game in Mississauga, Ontario tonight, there were about 4000 fans from Niagara and Mississauga present in the arena. He was introduced to the fans, waved, bowed etc. and was booed by the whole crowd for over two minutes. We are not sure how long he stayed at the game afterwards. Mississauga according to the media is supposed to be a Liberal stronghold !!!.

Well, it’s been reported by Open Ice Hockey reporter Nathan Dearing. Over at the Ignatieff campaign bus, the big media tweeters remained silent.
Update – Well, here’s a brand new Canadian Press story on the game. No Liberal leaders reported in attendance.
Morning Update Confirmation from the V.P. Marketing of the Mississauga St. Mike’s Majors …
And this absolute howler from CP reporter Steve Rennie, traveling with the Ignatieff campaign.

Final Update: Now being covered by SunTV, captured to youtube by SDAMatt!

Now being carried by CTV and CBC. SDA gets results!

1. Wow – people actually feel sorry for this pathetic millionaire schlep, who wouldn’t give you the time of day for asking.
Yea, poor Iggy will lose the election then take a long exotic vacation then settle back into the highbrow Harvard club, plotting the fall of your society via Marxism.
Don’t shed a tear; this is what keeps the animals out – since they took our guns away to do it by force afterwards.

2. That booing was restrained. You want to know what real booing is, check a Philly Flyers crowd. They would boo Santa Claus and the Easter bunny. Count Iggy got off lightly.
People were there for a hockey game. They were not there to be unwilling props for an Iggy photo op. They were right to boo him and I hope they would boo any campaigning politician who tried to use them in that way.

3. minuteman: “I hate Iggy, but that is just plain rude.” It is rude, but crowds are spontaneous and do not necessarily follow rules of etiquette. For Iggy, perhaps, a lesson in humility.

4. You gotta remember batb when The annointed one Barack, was spending “stimulus”, Taliban Jack and Iggy got all jiggy and screamed at Harper to spend “stimulus”, that I disagreed with but at least it went to roads and sewage lagoons and treatment plants, and not Saddledomes and Rexall Places like the little theif from Shawinigan spent it on last time. Just think where a coalition would spend money, the arts/ flitting fairys on obscure stages/ abortions in inner Motumbo Africa/ money to Palistine, yea the list is endless Canada, dont let it happen.

5. Something that hasn’t been discussed yet but which is very relevant are the secret meetings the NDP and Liberals had 6 months ago or so about merging the two parties. What if it wasn’t about merging the two parties but actually all about a coalition after the election?
Why haven’t questions brought up those secret meetings yet?

6. “Why haven’t questions brought up those secret meetings yet?”
Chris, I believe the media’s excuse is: “I wasn’t there, can’t report anything first-hand.”

7. Pleasing your enemies does not turn them into friends.
Etiquette and politeness be damned! Rip their effing throats out! (metaphorically of course)

8. gellen, Happy Easter to you and your family, too!
bartinsky, I’m with you. Politics is the art of the possible and to stay in power, where the CPC could do a lot more good than being in Opposition, Prime Minister Harper has often had his hands tied behind his back vis a vis the demands of the Disloyal Opposition of the NDP, LPC, and the Bloc. Like I said, PM Harper and the CPC are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. So, what I really like about Stephen Harper is that when he comes to a fork in the road, caused by a media/Opposition road block, he just goes straight ahead.
That’s why they can’t stand him. He just goes ahead and gets the job done. That’s also why a lot of Canadians like him: He’s working for them, not himself, like the other three leaders.
(Jacko says he’s for the little guy, the hard-working Canadian family, so how come he and Olivia cost Canadian taxpayers $1.2 million? They’ve become very accustomed to a lifestyle that’s beyond what any hard-working Canadians family can afford — and they live in Toronto, not Vancouver, relevant because it costs more to fly to BC than Toronto from Ottawa. What hypocrites, with smiles on their faces — like the crocodile …)

9. Don’t fall off your chairs but CTV just showed Iggy getting booed! Couldn’t have asked for a better birthday present!

11. From a cursory scan it looks like many or most of you missed a truly hilarious Kateism:
“At the Ice Hockey Game.”.
That’s a masterstroke, Kate!
My Dear Count Ignaughtieff:
Something I learned from a therapist in post-depression recovery a few decades ago: the profound significance of unsynchronous affect: eg.,smiling/grinning while experiencing great pain. When you’re booed by 4,000 people in a liberal stronghold, don’t GRIN. Weep or at least frown; cringe. Be real, man.

12. batb at 10:31 AM
when you try and communicate in private and in a civil tone, you either get ignored, ridiculed, or the brush off, this way, booing, publicly, you get heard. We, cons, have remained ignored (silent)too long!!

13. People! Despite the headline, Iggy isn’t the story, here.
The #legacymedia is.
We’re witnessing a major turning point. A revolt, even, which is long overdue.
And I find it extremely LIBERATING!

14. Boo-Who?
Booing the Big Red Tent Booby.
Big Liberal Red Tent’s Booby Booed.
Who da Booby?
Da prooooof is da proof*:
>>> *Liberal Count Ignatieff is da Big Red Booby.
“And at least some Canadian hockey fans don’t seem likely to cast their vote for the Liberal leader.
Ignatieff stopped by a major junior hockey game in Mississauga, Ont., on Saturday night and was booed by the crowd when his face popped up on the scoreboard.”
http://www.torontosun.com/2011/04/24/grits-tour-toronto-hit-tv-stations-across-canada
*Da proof: H/T Liberal Ad$Scam Chretien.
“A proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It’s a proof. A proof is a proof. And when you have a good proof, it’s because it’s proven.”
(brainyquote)

15. @kady was just on CBC News Now explaining the lack of legacy media coverage as a pool oversight. Not a real campaign event and all that.
It sure has been fun watching Kate evicerate the talking heads on twitter. Comedy gold!

16. “people actually feel sorry for this pathetic millionaire schlep,”
Who feels sorry for him? He’s a walking joke.
And if that is a Liberal riding, it would be good to see boos translate into votes, except I wouldn’t be surprised to see 30% still go Lieberal, 40% go NDP, 25% Conservative, 1% Green, and the remainder not vote.
The only meaningful insult is to keep them out of power. My aged gut twists at the knowledge of what is going to happen if the Conservatives don’t get a healthy majority this time.
Everyone, go to the advance polls if you can in case you’re struck down by a car or the flu.

17. Just saw Roger Smith on CTV belatedly reporting on the booing. It is all the Tory’s fault, said Roger. It was their negative ads the made the hockey crowd boo Count Ignatieff. And the lamestream media stays true to form — not waiting for the asteroid.

18. It’s a classic case of the media getting caught redhanded. Now they’re backtracking big time.

19. Davers6 & coach
CORRECTION
Remember 51% of Ford’s supporters were ‘New Canadians’ ( i said ‘visible minorities’ earlier…similar enough tho..)

20. Joe nailed it! @ 8:53am
If PMSH wins big it will be a first – a win without the media’s backing.
Mulroney had the medias support – not because he was a PC, but because he was one of the establishment – one of the Ruling Class, including Power Corp.
Take note of who is in a panic over a possible Harper Majority; the Liberals, most of the media, most Professors, George Soros, many celebrities, Rae & uncle Mo, … – IOW, The Ruling Class.

21. “I wasn’t there, can’t report anything first-hand.”
That Steve Rennie quote is a gem.
Straight out of the Yogi Berra school of journalism. EG:”Nobody goes there anymore it’s always too crowded” and “When you come to the Y in the road, take it.”
Tell me Steve, do you believe in hauntings?

22. Tweet yourself with the Big Red Liberal Tent’s Booby.
It’s not only for the Board.
It’s a re-run/redo of Tweety and Sylvester?
…-
“Michael Ignatieff, at the editorial board”
“The Globe and Mail continues its meetings with the party leaders with Michael Ignatieff, leader of the Liberal Party.
On Sunday, at 1 p.m. ET, Mr. Ignatieff visits with The Globe editorial board; we’ll be live Tweeting his appearance.”

23. When the Red Star or CTV turns on a Librano, you know that Librano is toast. Their next problem is how to foist off Rae on us.
After the blatant robbery, pillage, lies and deceit ROC suffered at the hands of the punk from Shawinigan, ROC has figured out how hollow is the Librano strategy: rob the ROC blind to buy a majority via Quebec.
With the world teetering on economic oblivion, folks don’t give a rats’ a** about “National Unity”… and certainly squandering funds in such an economic climate in order to purchase (actually always attempting but never succeeding) “National Unity”, or “Social Justice” is so dauntingly stupid that even Katmeat could figure it out.
Some day the Canadian MSM might even get a clue. We’re wise to their schtick.
The boo is highly symbolic. And earned.

24. Just caught the tail end of the Iggy-Jesus Rise-Up special..at the tail end,you get the ‘DONATE NOW’ plea on screen! I guess the libs need $$ to pay for this 1/2 hr.love-in!!

25. It would seem that more and more people are waking up to reality that life, by nature is conservative and the pretending by the Liberals and NDP is just not saleable anymore. Harper needs the majority so we can find out, finally, if he is indeed a conservative or just another liberal phony playing the game on his side of the field.
If that is so, I will hide all my dough and go on welfare …. just to get even.

26. Sympathy vote.
Canadians are no longer just hewers of wood and drawers of water.
Trudeau was right about this century belonging to us.

27. @Sammy 12:38
I was half expecting them to trot out (that is the correct term, I believe) poor starving liberal babies with distended bellies to drive it home.
It really did feel like a World Vision infomercial.
Pathetic.

28. Wow, that Roger Smith sounds both pathetic and desperate. Blaming the Cons attack ads for the the booing and hoping so hard that Iggy’s “Rise Up” Easter special (that’s rich!) and his French TV appearance will get those elusive votes that are just…so…close…

29. “who goes to a play off game in a suit and tie?”
A snake oil salesman maybe?
Mayor of Mississauga,Hazel McCallion, invited Ignatieff to attend so she’s either a fan or was playing him for a fool knowing he’d get booed. She herself got a standing Ovation.

30. Count Iggy to Hazel….”So what is this game called? What are those things on the players feet? How did they build this building around that frozen pond? Did all these people come to see me?”
(Booing begins)
“Hazel. Why did you bring me here?

31. Somewhat telling, that the Iggy-Jesus Show is being sandwiched between The Simpsons, and Family Guy..just one more comedy-cartoon show, only difference is you get asked to pay for the ‘jelly’ in the middle of the 2 slices of bread.

32. Good going on pushing this into the media, it’s what really happens during an real election, not the ass covering and water hauling that’s taken place for years.
These people have lived in a bubble for far too long, exactly as maz2 has directed his fine arrows at above. Seriously, when was the last time a REAL debate occurred with some real policy choices having been tabled? I’m thinking it was the fight over the NAFTA debates. An election is supposed to be about hiring a group of people to govern, or firing the last group, it’s not supposed to be about someone’s image problem in the media. .
If the media refuses to ask the tough policy questions, what’s left but to mock their choice of wearing a tie to a hockey game?

33. inn of the north wrote: “who goes to a play off game in a suit and tie?”
Someone who is there only to make an appearance.

34. This morning I decided to take one for the cause and suffered through a lot of CTV “Question Period”……1 hour of my life mostly wasted…
Oh well…towards the end Oliver described Missauga as a “swing riding” and hockey fans in so many words as rude yahooos…..
Then at the last minute, he went after the NDP election platform as foolish wasteful spending with no viable source…..for a momment I got the impression he would have liked to express his opinions of Layton’s personal hygene, sexual preferences etc….
Despite Oliver’s tight control of his expersion, the eyes are the mirrors of the soul. From start to finish those eyes projected rage and hate…..when he turned to his attack, his eyes almost glowed GOWELLUDE(stargate) like…
Giggles Tabor was so upset, throughout, hysterical would be an accurate term.
At one point Oliver, Baird and Dewar debated….Baird kept his cool….Oliver and Dewar fir the most part were talking over/shouting Baird down….Oliver was blantly the LIBRANO spokesman.
I consider myself an unemotional observer….I just noted that the dog took about an hour to emerge from hiding….doggie treat time and major pets……

35. Soooo, the msm can’t tweet about crowds finallty responding to Iggy’s rise-up plea at the hocket game..yet Bagdad Bob Fife can tweet that some ‘renter’ in apt.block where PMSH was appearing complained that ‘no one asked her’..hmm,4000 people booing get NO tweets,1 whiner against PMSh gets covered.Yeah,I see the balance.

36. Kady:
I’ll be back on #CBCNN to talk about the Ignatieff hockey boo not-a-conspiracy and the awesomeness of the twitterverse at 1:20
I wish I could find a link for one of Kate’s trophies.
