The First American Prime Minister, At The Ice Hockey Game

We get mail!

Kate, this probably will not be in the media tomorrow about the American Count Iggy’
He attended an Ontario Hockey league play-off game in Mississauga, Ontario tonight, there were about 4000 fans from Niagara and Mississauga present in the arena. He was introduced to the fans, waved, bowed etc. and was booed by the whole crowd for over two minutes. We are not sure how long he stayed at the game afterwards. Mississauga according to the media is supposed to be a Liberal stronghold !!!.

Well, it’s been reported by Open Ice Hockey reporter Nathan Dearing. Over at the Ignatieff campaign bus, the big media tweeters remained silent.
Update – Well, here’s a brand new Canadian Press story on the game. No Liberal leaders reported in attendance.
Morning Update Confirmation from the V.P. Marketing of the Mississauga St. Mike’s Majors …
And this absolute howler from CP reporter Steve Rennie, traveling with the Ignatieff campaign.

Final Update: Now being covered by SunTV, captured to youtube by SDAMatt!

Now being carried by CTV and CBC. SDA gets results!

  1. We need to get this on TV, ASAP. Video, if it exists, but at least the story.
PLEASE send this to anyone who might be able to get it out there.
I have emailed 2 media personalities I thought might be on our side, and I will now do more before going to bed. Please everyone do the same, this sort of thing could make the difference with 1 week to go.

  2. Didn’t Mississauga go almost solidly CPC last election?
By this point it surely must be clear to even the thickest skulls in the party that Liberal policies are not popular any more. You can blame Count Iggula for being a bad leader, but that doesn’t explain Ontario turfing the Liberals last election, and particularly the GTA voting in Rob Ford.
People are -afraid- now. More spending, more taxes and more multi-culti Greenie goodness isn’t selling anywhere except the parts of 416 area code where all the teachers and snivel servants live.
Way to go Mississauga for booing the Count.

  3. Six hours from now nanos releases its Tracking poll from today. There was none on released on good Friday – did they conduct one at all? That poll result – a week away from election eve will be the basis of a lot of strategy decisions by all parties. It will likely set the tone for the remainder of the campaign.

Gilles Duceppe doubled-down on the sovereignty issue today – after at least two columnists and presumably many others pinned their massive loss of support to the ndp this past week on precisely that kind of sovereignist retrenchment. Could it be that sounding the taps bugle for sovereignty no longer rouses the quebecois to attention but instead it causes them to desert the post? Obviously duceppe doesnt think so. Perhap its not just the lpc that is yesterday’s party.

There is an old saying that one always fights the current war based in the circumstances under which the last one was fought and won or lost. The most searing loss that the LPC has suffered this generation was attributed largely to adscam (it wasn’t the only reason). Consciously or unconsciously, the party elite felt that it could bring down the CPC using the same ethics meme. Thus use of the trumped-up in contempt vote, the gracious help of elections Canada and a few ethical breeches by staff and perhaps even MPs. IOW, if it worked for the cpc, then by gum, they would do in the CPC in using the same meme. They also had the nearly twenty-year old precedent of the Mulroney serial corruptions that went along way to destroying the PCPC.
But they overlooked one huge difference – a difference that made all of the difference to most canadians: the ethical breeches, such as they were, never involved people successfully lining their own pockets and where there were those who tried – and there will always be those who try – they never got away with it. The system prevented it – either by chance or design.
Thus we had the LPC going to war under circumstances that did not resonate with the general public. And make not doubt about it, correctly or incorrectly, the general public perceived the lpc as being the party that triggered this election – not the NDp or the BQ.
So, two thirds of the way through the election, the lpc is mired in the polls more or less exactly where they have been for almost four years – and organizational atrophy at the local level is beginning to show and cause even safe seats to be in trouble.
At that point the lpc went to defcon1 and abandoned the ethics meme – reverting to the strategy that prevented them being trounced in the past – the scare card – focussed this time primarily on healthcare. But this time around it backfired completely. Left of center supporters became annoyed – perhaps realizing that this was an every man for himself move – that the lpc was failing yet again and they moved their support to the party that they at least respected for its steadfastness albeit a losing steadfastness. Better to go down on a ship that doesnt fly a disgraced, false flag like the lpc does.
Tomorrow the lpc will resort to using a large, cheap ad buy (Easter Sunday afternoon ain’t super bowl halftime) to put forth a slap chop style infomercial. It defies logic that that could make a difference. What will they talk about that hasn’t already been said already? Last weekend we had the revivalist rise-up exhortations. Will we now see (those who can’t find their remotes will maybe see that is…) Jim Bakker tears?
It’s difficult to see how the lpc pulls the election up and away from slamming into the carrier deck. Perhaps well crafted ads by the CPC and BQ will rattle enough supporters who had jumped over to the ndp to return to the fold and give the party enough of a vote lift to be at the end of the second of May still with more seats than the BQ and the ND. And finishing third finishes the party – quite likely for ever – certainly for the next eight years.
And it finishes mr ignatieffs term as leader, and the leadership elite and bob Rae and likely Justin trudeau – if he isn’t defeated will find a less challenging career path than that of a hood ornament on a BuwickElectra-era party with a rod from the number eight cylinder through the block. And no vote grants to pay for a rebuild either…
Grim prospects indeed for the lpc.

  4. Now if the Edmonton lady mentioned earlier had managed to scale the boards and get a kick in the commentator could’ve yelled: OLD TIME HOCKEY!!!
Then the colour man could have gone on to ponder if that makes things even between Alberta and the Liberals for the NEP. At this point the play by play man would’ve just replied: no…

  5. Maybe if Kate is able to expose this (latest) example of blatant media bias she should title it in a series:
    “The Sound Of Settled Elections.”

  6. Mao Stlong Lepolt.
“Mao smear news to Liberal leader”
Hope and Fear: Da Bubble is Iggy.
    “I live in a void.”
Da bubble: “Ignatieff handlers kept story from him”
Count says: “They shield,” he said, referring humorously to his campaign staff who decide what news he sees. “I live in a void.”
    Liberal Count Ignatieff “rattled”.
PET Cemetery pleads/begs: Recall Citoyen Kyoto Dionky.
“The Liberals are rattled by the polls. Some acknowledge the campaign is in save-the-furniture mode, and some privately debate how many seats Ignatieff would have to win to stay on as leader (85 to 100).
But Ignatieff’s team says they have reason to hope that voters will shift back to the Liberals before election day.”
    …-
“Mao smear news to Liberal leader
Ignatieff handlers kept story from him”
“On the day after the English leaders’ debate, Sun newspapers across Canada ran a front page photo of Michael Ignatieff with the headline: What the Mao? Ignatieff Channels Chairman.
The Quebecor chain – the largest circulation newspaper group in the country – linked Ignatieff to murderous Chinese dictator Mao Zedong because during the debate, Ignatieff said, “let some flowers bloom here,” calling for greater openness in Canadian democracy.
The Sun suggested Ignatieff was quoting Mao, who famously called for Chinese officials to “let a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend,” before a brutal crackdown.
When he was informed of the Sun’s headline Saturday in a Halifax interview with The Chronicle Herald, Ignatieff laughed long and hard.
“I missed it,” he said, and laughed again.
“They shield,” he said, referring humorously to his campaign staff who decide what news he sees. “I live in a void.””

  7. Let’s see if Sun News reports it. They are our antidote to what Ezra Levant calls the consensus media.

  8. PET’s multiculturalism is dead.
    Buried here >>> PET Cemetery.
Killed by the left which spawned the monster of multiculturalism.
The Death-Struggle of the leftist brothers.
The death-struggle has now entered its final phase/endgame.
The weapons/daggers/kerpans are found underneath the Sikh turbans.
    …-
“Ignatieff, Layton campaigns face to face at Sikh celebration Sunday”
“The Liberal and NDP campaigns, which some polls suggest are in a tight race for second place in this election, will come face to face today.
Both Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff and NDP Leader Jack Layton are scheduled to give remarks at a Sikh celebration in Toronto.”

  9. “Elections Canada to muzzle Twitter”
“Agency banning tweets regarding riding results before all polls close”
“”The Twitterverse is planning to rebel against the ban. There are plans to organize a “tweet-in,” with tweeters protesting the ban on May 2 by tweeting results en masse. Then we’ll see how many of these “e-slacktivists” actually risk the fine, and what Elections Canada will do about it. Elections Canada, which can’t seem to keep accurate voters lists, has been sending voting cards to dead people and noncitizens, and admitted it ran unauthorized special polling stations at the University of Guelph in Ontario, is wasting everyone’s time by going after Twitter users. Talk about not having your priorities in order.””

  10. RISE UP hisssss Canada. RISE UP hissss. Well Iggy got what he wished for he got Canada to rise up. Iggy has the Midas Touch in Reverse. Everything he touches turns to sh*t….This week he has the Coffin Dodger and Number #1 Liberal Teef out helping him. Da Little Teef from Shawinigan The Petit Gar himself. A man so crooked he has to sleep in a grain auger at night his backbone is so twisted and crooked. Jean Cretin, former PM Jean Poutine, the Cheezy Greasy FrenchFry, who sold off all of Canada’s 700 Metric Tonnes of Gold Reserves for 150$/oz. None of that money from the Gold showed up on the Bank of Canada books or the Government of Canada’s Books. More Billions in Tax Dollars down the Liberal Rathole.

  11. Complete opposite of the 1984 campaign. The press was not friendly toward John “chick” Turner. Chick being his university nickname.
Toward the end of the campaign the boys at the back of the plane were drinking the Liberal provided booze doing impersonations and singing song “chick chick chickee good-bye”.
All while Mr Turner and his wife sat within earshot at the front of the plane.
I don’t condone either behaviour, the protection or the mocking, both are unprofessional. But I will say if anythign shows the disconnect between the populace and the “watchdogs” it is something like the incident at the game.
I said before this felt Charlottetown like, elits in one place and people in another. This ads to that impression.

  12. maz2; 6:59 AM
I know you are not advocating this illegal move and just providing information.
And what would be the differance between that and “Vote Early, and vote Often” by Calgary Grit – earlier in this post?
I hope that there are NONE of the Conservative blogs participating in the illegal posting of rersults on their blogs or twitter – the Cons are above breaking that law. You can always see the results on LIEberal and Non Democradic Party if you really want to. The opposition will pounce on the first Con to do it, and EC will persecute them and not the Coalition of Trators.

  13. Terry Mollester on CBC’s the National did not report it but instead reported on an obscure BC Conservative candidate that apparently got a nod of support from one of the wazoos who was part of the Air India bombing…Oh the humanity!!!
Anyway, the joke was on the MSM who tried to embarrass Harper at a campaign meeting…The media asked the question; the room got up on it’s feet and gave Harper a sustained cheer and ovation. Harper thanked the crowd and the show was over…Harper ignored the question.
Mollester was bopping back and forth in indignation.
I think the Liberals might be heading towards a Kim Campbell result…One can only hope.
Maybe Bob Rae will try to merge the Bloc and Greens with whats left over after…Ha! Ha!

  14. You don’t bring me flowers
You don’t sing me love songs
You hardly talk to me anymore
When you come through that door at the end of the day…
I remember when you couldn’t wait to love me
Used to hate to leave me
Now after loving me late at night
    When it’s good for you
    And you’re feeling all right
Well, you just roll over and turn out the light
And you don’t bring me flowers anymore
It used to be so natural to talk about forever
    But used-to-be’s don’t count anymore
They just lay on the floor, till we sweep them away
And baby I remember all the things you taught me
I learned how to laugh and I learned how to cry
Well, I learned how to love I even learned how to lie
So you’d think I could learn how to tell you goodbye
‘Cause you don’t say you need me
You don’t sing me love songs
You don’t bring me flowers anymore…

  15. “They shield,” he said, referring humorously to his campaign staff who decide what news he sees. “I live in a void.”…
There ya go again Mikey…stating th
    e obvious…
    To your own detriment.

  16. Let’s not exaggerate: officially, only 3784 people paid to boo Mr. Ignatieff. 🙂
Didn’t he kick off his campaign in Mississauga?

  17. Stephen: The difference between 1984 and now is that in 1984 the alternative to Turner was a Powercorp man call Mulroney. PM Harper is not beholden to Powercorp and thus must be gotten rid of by any means possible. The media corporations and the reporters on the ground have their orders.

  18. The media asked the question; the room got up on it’s feet and gave Harper a sustained cheer and ovation. Harper thanked the crowd and the show was over…Harper ignored the question.
Not true..Mildewski asked his 3 part question…PM Harper answered…Mildewski wanted it in French also…when PM Harper attempted to give it, the crowd stood up and clapped at his answer in english, all the while the media were screeching like mad dogs frothing at the mouth.
The media, Fife and Mildewski falsely reported the event afterwards, but its on video.

  19. “Sometimes I wonder how many journalists really believe they are around to influence public opinion as opposed to reporting events.”
max – The few that I’ve heard/read talk about why they became journalists all said they wanted to change the world. And since just plain reporting won’t do that…

  20. Ontario Girl the media reported the story enmasse, howeever their slant was Harper’s sheeple talked over the simpleton media and the media is outraged I tell ya. Of course there’s so little truth at Liberal Media these days one has to avoid their anti-con agenda or our heads will pop. Bye CTV and CBC.

  21. On the 9:30AM (ET)news from SUN TV News, the booing of Iggy was mentioned. The newscaster essentially said that there have been reports of Ignatieff being booed at at hockey game. She added that they are looking into it and will report more on a later newscast today.
Sun News has already proven their worth.

  22. Honestly. The notion of not having Sun news actually scares me, knowing the shit this moron MSM pulled during this election. This election is the most compelling case for unbelievably biased journalism there is.
I had no idea earth day was Lenin’s birthday. I am sure that is just a coincidence!

  23. UPDATE-
Sun News is now reporting the incident on their news banner that runs at the bottom of the screen.

  24. IMPORTANT REMINDER: On May 2nd vote ABC; Anyone or Anything BUT Conservative. Lets all do our part to save this great nation from the ravishes of Harpo and cronies!

  25. “The weapons/daggers/kerpans are found underneath the Sikh turbans.”
when the multicul folks pushed to allow kirpans in school (because of course, they’re only ceremonial) what is to prevent the class homicidal grade 11 20 year old from knocking the privileged sikh on his ass, take the kirpan, use on someone else? voila!! no need for the hoodlum to sneak a weapon past aaaaaaaall that security.
I never did get an answer.

  26. Good work Kate. It is being reported with video on SunTVNews Live channel 213 on Bell. Now what CBC and CTV Lamestream media. Your cover ups are over….

  27. ‘Good evening Bob, anything going on with the Ignatief campaign?
‘Good evening Lloyd, no, kind of a quiet night. Mr. Ignatief spent the evening enjoying one of his and Canada’s favourite sports, a good old hockey game…’
‘Ok, keep us posted- good night Bob’
    ‘good night Lloyd’

  28. Let’s speak the UNspeakable – Mississauga has been Liberal for years ONLY because Mississauga is VERY HEAVILLY ethnic in it’s population of Pakistanis / Wackistanis, Indians, Chinese, etc. etc. but Mississauga HOCKEY FANS are native-born white Canadians, and their patron saint is Don Cherry, no girly-man weenie boy American Liberal he!
Like others have said, it’s now so obvious that Iggy is crashing and burning that I almost (but only almost) feel sorry for HIM but I will never be able to feel sorry for the Liberal Party.

  29. It looks like the MSM has gone silent on the Lieberals, but on the other hand, have been pumping Taliban Jack every chance they get. The way they carry on about TJ, you would think he was a front runner in this election … and not a 3rd choice afterthought. The MSM strategy this election seems to be ‘anyone but Harper’.

  30. A complete cover-up by a sympathetic media.
The sooner the internet kills off all these journalistic crooks and cons, the better.
And they say suicide is painless.

  31. RH Terry Tory
    “Terry Mollester”
Now that’s funny ! I just keep howling at that.
In troubled times like this we need a good laugh. Thank you.

  32. No surprise really but we needed a sign….a burning bush so to speak….
Posted by: sasquatch at April 24, 2011 1:05 AM
The sign(s) happened last summer when Count Eyebrow’s Tour du Sulfur bus broke down and was towed by Harper Diesel….the very same day the photo of Iggy’s shirt tucked into his underwear was taken…
I hope the lying, stealing, thieving Libranos don’t even end up making party status when the votes are counted May 2nd.
A person can always dream can’t they?

  33. “I wasn’t there, can’t report anything first-hand.”
There’s that wonderful sense journalistic curiosity that just pulses through the veins of all our trusted scribes in the consensus media.

  34. I saw this on Sun News this morning, before turning on the laptop. As Davers6 mentioned, just about every white person in Mississauga was at that game. It’s the only refuge of freedom of association left in that part of the world.

  35. Iggy never had a chance .. didn’t anyone tell him that in Canada we alternate between English and French Prime ministers … it’s only fair eh?
Watch for that little twit Trudeau … you know the substitute teacher whose entire life’s experience was visiting Fidel Castro with his Marxist father. In desperation, the Liberals will roll him out next time around. He is one quarter French so he will get the pass.
Meanwhile, the Count is getting the hazing he deserves.

  36. Thanks for the correction Ontario Girl; I guess I did not pick up all the story correctly when I saw it early this AM (5 am)…I should get my java fix first, I guess.

  37. Abe- 10:18
You may be right Abe but it’s possible we could see Liberals walking around in a Rae daze next year.

  38. Thanks for the clip Matt, my cable provider feels I’m not ready for Sun News yet, so I have to get it where I can.

  39. I am sorry the crowd booed — as that’s just being mean-spirited and rude; it shows our society’s increasing lack of civility towards one another. I will never boo for Ignatieff, Duceppe, Layton, or May, even though I detest their politics and their underhanded tactics. Neither would I clap for them. I’d remain silent if they showed up at an event I was at. (At least I hope I would!)
However, having said that, what a shot in the arm for “our side”!!! I have a feeling there are quite a few secret (and not-so-secret) CPC supporters out there, many who won’t admit to voting CPC but who will in the end.
The Chaotic Coalition is crazy and dangerous; we’ve seen how they’d perform in the HOC in the leadership debates. These guys aren’t leaders, they’re members of a cabal of entitled, self-righteous, bullying Leftards, who would spend Canada into the poor house in a nano-second. (What hypocrites: They slam PM Harper and his party for overspending but forced him to overspend by criticizing his not spending enough. As per usual, PM Harper and the CPC are damned if they do and damned if they don’t with this crowd.

  40. batb: I echo your comments. Didn’t want to go against the mood of the thread, but am grateful you have, and done it so well.
    Happy Easter!

  41. Bagdad Bob, meet GTA Rennie.
Conservative forces are rumbling through the streets of the GTA planting victory flags, while our intrepid CP reporter tells Liberals there’s nothing to see, all is fine.

  42. Watching Iggy getting booed on Sun media this morning is going very well with my coffee and toast this morning.
The liberals need a very well deserved time out, I think the turning point was bringing out all the old bones…..
