Jerry Woods, the lead singer and songwriter of Canadian band Jerry Jerry and the Songs of Rhythm Orchestra (previously featured here) is one of those rare Canadians musicians whose music and lyrics are – to the (minimal) extent they’re political at all – unabashedly and refreshingly non-leftist.   1. Not a Tip per se, just a funny kick-off quote from Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle:
    “I feel sorry for Obama because he’s still got to fight the innate racism of Americans. I mean, did you see his first speech, when he got made President and they put all that bulletproof glass up in front of him? I think that shows you how racist America still is. Just because he’s black doesn’t mean he’s going to shoot anybody.”

  3. I was a student on university campuses in the 60’s, radicals held sit-ins, sang folk songs and chained themseves to stationary objects, that was civil disobedience. We did not hide our faces, because we believed in our causes and were willing to take responsability for our actions.
    The people today are not radicals, they are plain and simply nothing more than thugs hiding behind anonymity.

An excellent coherent presentation criticizing global warming and the associated data by Dr. Vincent Courtillot, as well as other short videos/interviews with the co-founder of Greenpeace who left because he doesn’t believe in man made warming among other reasons, and some keen points made by the Brit Johnny Ball, and science award winner Judith Curry.

  10. Robert W, thanks for that clip. It reminds me of what was news just last week in my city. A big deal was made about the vandalism of election signs on both TV and radio. Interestingly enough, the sign posts were not pulled out of the ground; just the signs themselves were ripped and torn. Not a word was said about the 60-80 km wind gusts we had the night before.
    Another attempt to make conservatives look violent. Reminiscent of the targets on election maps in the US with Palin’s vitriol being blamed for the shooting of that governor.
    The new trend is to blame vitriol for violence, it helps perpetuate the propaganda that free expression is responsible for hate and violence.
    BTW: The word VITRIOL has its roots as an acronym for the Latin phrase: Visita interioraterrae, rectificandoque, invenies occultum lapidem, which means: “visit the interior of the earth, and rectifying it, you will find the hidden stone.” These days it means sulfuric acid or cruel and bitter criticism.

    So, let’s rise up, in the original sense of the expression; ‘nothing whatever to do with the Count’s version!!

  22. At a Harper talk in Toronto, a journalist asks him about a dubious supporter of a Vancouver candidate. Harper answers. The journalist attempts to repeat his question a second time. The Toronto crowd is irritated by the out-of-riding question and applaud to drown him.
    So far, nothing to see. But the G&M sees a big scandal. Worse, their readers turn this non-story into the most discussed article by Sunday AM.
    The Liberals are desperate.

  23. I get my blood pressure going when I read the false and misleading propaganda material that CTV, CBC, Toronto Star and Globe and Mail have printed about our PM and our government. The lithium batteries for my new blood pressure monitor are now $12.00 x 3= $36.00 + tax. (Made by the corp. that has the little bunny beating for hours on end.)
    I wonder what would happen of those of who are fed up of this network circus that we’ve seen during the last fed campaign were to contact say the makers of Eveready, Duracell, GM, Ford, Toyota and Chrysler and say this. “Advertise on this network, and I don’t buy your product.”
    Twas just a thought. And the net does touch a lot of sensitive souls!!

    I’m not tooooo comfortable about this idea, it has the opportunity to be abused, used to advance law/customs that are not currently approved of by western society by certain sectors of our society.

  35. Vandalizing election signs are nothing more than a purile cry “I can get back at you, …take that!”
    No serious political junkie would lower him/herself to deface a piece of paper.
    As low as they are, I would not for a minute blame an active,committed Liberal for these activities. Too much like work…
    It’s anarchist types, and or pissed drunks that latch on to this, this, childish blow against an uncaring system they aren’t part of.
    The perpetrators probably don’t even vote! They only crave the soundbite on the news. Period.
    Nice to see they attack all parties, though. Mighty fair and equal minded of them….
