  1. Jeffrey Simpson crawls out of the La Brea Tar Pits to explain why the Conservatives (who are at 43% in the latest Ipsos poll, with the Liberals at 24%) are “going nowhere.”
To save you time, here’s the gist of it:

“..failure of the Conservative Party…evangelical Christian….the black art of shameless politics…ruthless…”

It’s the same column, in other words, that he’s been reprinting for about fifteen years.

  2. Benjamin Weinthal at NR:
“(Elizabeth) Taylor was also one of 60 signatories to a telegram addressed to U.N. Secretary General Kurt Waldheim (ex-Nazi) from prominent women, slamming the U.N. Anti-Zionist Resolution in 1975. She did this at time when it was highly unfashionable to come out against the anti-Israel U.N. resolution. In 1967, she pulled the plug on a trip to the Soviet Union because of its diplomatic attacks on the Jewish state. One could continue with this list of her activities in support of Israel.
“At a time when U.S. entertainers like the folk singer Pete Seeger, the alternative band the Pixies, and Carlos Santana are waging a cultural boycott war against Israel, it is worth remembering an actress who understood the difference between anti-Semitic Palestinian terrorists and fighting to preserve Israel’s existence.”

  3. A 13-year-old girl shot in the back in Surrey, B.C., had, shortly before the incident, fled from a home blocks away where police subsequently found a mortally wounded man they believe fired on the girl.

Absolutely unacceptable barbarism or multiculturalism gone bad*?
*Years ago I watched a Dr.Phil show about obesity and gastric bypass complications are so frequent that nurses had a shorthand notation, GBGB (gastric bypass gone bad). Nowadays, reading about women/girls victimized by cultural/religious norms of 3rd world countries is also so common that maybe it needs its own shorthand notation, MGB (multiculturalism gone bad).

  4. A driver is stuck in a traffic jam going into downtown Ottawa. Nothing is moving north or south.
Suddenly a man knocks on his window.
The driver rolls down his window and asks, “What happened? What’s the hold-up?”
“Terrorists have kidnapped Michael Ignatieff, Gordon Campbell, Jack Layton, Conrad Black, Brian Mulroney, Gilles Duceppe, and Prime Minister Harper.
They are asking for a ten million dollar ransom….otherwise, they are going to douse them with gasoline and set them on fire. We are going from car to car, taking up a collection.”
The driver asks, “On average, how much is everyone giving?”
    “About a gallon!”

  5. @EBD – I knew there was more than one reason to miss Liz. Thanks for this.

  6. EBD @10:13 – and yet Pete Seeger, who is about 114 and only recently decided that he’s not quite sure how nice of a guy Stalin really is, continues to exist and take up valuable carbon. Why God why?

  7. Stunningly good column by Krauthammer at The Post.
Also note the poll on the rt side column. It’s not scientific but gee I’d do anything to prevent Obama from going back to Cairo (unless it is to stay)

  8. dmorris, good find. Did we really expect anything else. No doubt there are also some Iranian special forces there as well as in all those trouble areas.

“Wind energy surplus threatens eastern German power grid”
“German Economics Minister Rainer Brüderle recently warned that Germany faces frequent power blackouts because too much ‘green electricity’ is being pumped onto the grid.
While this is a problem all four of Germany’s major electricity network operators have to deal with one time or another, Belgian-Australian company 50Hertz Transmission is particularly hard hit. It took over the monitoring and protection of the eastern German energy grid – which is home to more than 8,000 wind turbines – from Swedish company Vattenfall last year, and faces the threat of power outages much more often than its counterparts.”

  11. Do any of you know if the CPC has decided to get a hotline in place for this election? This is so that situations that occur on the web or elsewhere can be dealt with immediately.
The “make up your own sarcastic message” that was featured on the main CPC website during the last election comes to mind. The hotline would need to be manned 24-7 with people who are connected to those who can make a decision and get something done immediately. It could also be used to pass along info on what the opposition has said that needs to be addressed.
I also wonder if the ‘war-room’ will have folks over 14 years of age working there.
If someone here knows people in the upper atmosphere of the CPC, can they please make this happen. It has certainly been needed before.
If they agree, perhaps bloggers could act as a go-between. They could contact the hot line with genuine concerns.
    Just a thought.
I am reminded of Dion’s statement on TV where he just slipped in his plan to have a carbon based tax system where money would be used for social engineering. No one seemed to pick up on that and I found it impossible to get a message about this ‘up the ladder’.

  12. this is a tip from d_abes on yesterdays First Coalition Prime Minister, posted this morning, a Good catch
watch the CTV news special Ignatieff speaks, part two
    http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20110326/canada-election-harper-ignatieff-110326/20110326?s_name=election2011
the 2nd question in from a reporter The smug fake laughter from Ignatieff & the Puppet Mps surrounding him with their Fake Smug smiles & laugh.
He twists the question & cuts off the reporter when she tries to correct him.
They insult Canadians with their smug attitudes, And listen to him at the end talking about rules, mr harper thinks i dont understand the rules I understand the rules better then he does.
Again Iganatieff showing true liberal Smugness & his Puppets the Muppet show in the background Nodding just like Bobbleheads.

  13. LIBERALSIgnatieff swears off coalition
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canadavotes2011/story/2011/03/26/cv-kickoff-libs.html
“We categorically rule out a coalition or formal arrangement with the Bloc Québécois.”
    Ignatieff
*Ignatieff Does Not state however a coalition with their Kissin Cousins the NDP, If their is a possibility of a lower Conservative seat count & if you add a Liberal & NDP count is higher.
This will put the Tories in opposition & in a position that they Cannot join with the BQ
So Yes a Deal has been made, only not with the BQ with the Socialist.
