  1. The animation of the thermometer extinction is quite stark. Apparently it was decided in the early 2000s to just cut off 90% of the data. Talk about vandalism…

  2. Jo has been corrected by her guru sinan unur [try saying THAT three times fast]
// many thermometers haven’t actually disappeared — they are often still collecting data — it’s just that their records are not being included in the “global” compilations. Though, as Watts and D’Aleo point out, sometimes these forgotten thermometers are still used to calculate the baseline averages. //
If you had five thermometers in your house & one in the barn, would you calculate the average temperature of your buildings by adding them all & dividing by six?
On the other hand, you might occasionally use all five to check your house’s average temperature.

  3. What better way to generate global warming? Get rid of the thermometers recording temperatures in the world’s cold areas. (This animation shows that is exactly what has happened.)
You are then left with urban heat island thermometers. Voila! Global warming. Nice work Hansen, Mann et al.

  4. After the panic attack over the long-form census changes, I am surprised that the Canadian MSM isn’t all over the great thermometer extinction event. Is it because they do not understand its statistical significance or just willful blindness?

  5. Any inconvenient truth can just be disappeared . . . like Obama’s history as a marxist or his extensive links to ACORN.
    Abbra Caddabra . . . POOF!

  6. mebbe they were including rectal thermometers….
….wouldn’t that throw any mean or median temps WAAAY off…
    any ideas ?

  7. I think they call this in the con game racket.
    “Grooming the Mark”.
Show him fools gold, than offer him a mine.
This was on gigantic sting by the UN & socialist Elites to gain more power at individual expense with a phony crisis.
While sucking the coffers of any Western Industrialization. NO industry, no way to protect yourself. It will have been made impossible by red tape regulators.
Of course the corporate welfare bums are all their with there hands out eating tax dollars for our right to breath. One the other hand enforcing draconian laws that impimge on personnel liberty.
Of course the secondary benefit of shrinking the middle class ids desirable as well. Where just Kulaks to Obamas Stalinist mentality.
Just look at regulated California to see hoe Marxists destroy anything they touch.
With the money involved is it any wonder they fudged?

  8. I noticed they were reporting temperatures in York Factory before New Orleans. The long video was interesting to watch.

HBC (here before Christ) have temperature records going back to 1700’s. York Factory was an early shipping port from Hudson Bay, to sent furs back to England. Churchill eventually became the major seaport. If you look at a map of Manitoba showing the railroad, it appears to be heading to York, and then just past Gillam it turns north and goes to Churchill. One story is they changed their mind on the location of the port.

  10. Last night, Eureka Station, Nunavut recorded -49 degrees C. Do icebergs melt at -49??
    That’s -56.2 degrees F!

Why would anybody be interested in new temperature data? It is reliably predicted by computer models that cost millions of dollars, so those models couldn’t possibly be wrong. What’s more, is that if new temperature data happened to show a general decrease over time, billions of dollars would be needed to prove that the temperatures couldn’t be decreasing. Spending that sort of money would diminish the amount required to confirm that the science is settled. After all, there are some folks who think terrible future events are not caused by themselves or other humans. They’ve got to be educated!
The real problem is a general disregard for the expertise of expensive experts (costing billions) — who must therefore be right. Why would elected officials cheat us? Why would universities prolong deceit and corruption?
It’s time to stop thinking, and trust the state before the racists-against-science multiply further in an over-populated, warming, calamitous, random fluctuation of primordial ooze.
