“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.” – Barack Obama

BATB;

For many in the States, who are convinced that the Obamessiah’s agenda is madness, their solution has been to join the Tea Party, which is not a violent or terrorist group. The Tea Party is a legitimate, grass-roots coming together of individuals to propose alternative programs to those of the Obama-led government. The Tea Party is a bona fide element of the democratic process in the U.S. — and to suggest that U.S. citizens shouldn’t form groups like this because they might incite violence or domestic terrorism is tantamount to political blackmail: Don’t push back, folks, because something violent might happen.

As Glenn Reynolds wrote yesterdayIf you’re using this event to criticize the “rhetoric” of Sarah Palin or others with whom you disagree, then you’re either asserting a connection between the “rhetoric” and the shooting — which based on evidence to date would be what we call a vicious lie — or you’re not, in which case you’re just seizing on a tragedy to try to score unrelated political points, which is contemptible. So which is it?

  1. batb’s thesis has been proven over and over: the bullies win, while those with different ideas are demonized and shut out.
E.g., Ann Coulter at the University of Ottawa, the G20 vandals in Toronto, Muslim terrorists nearly everywhere, and was it Mark Steyn at Western? Officialdom, afraid of the leftie goons who loudly protest and even violently break the law, are kow-towed to, while law abiding, peaceful citizens are held hostage.
    This.Has.Got.To.Stop.

  2. Many thanks, Robert, for that excellent “Le*gal In*sur*rec*tion” post about the left’s delusional demonization of Sarah Palin and others on the right.
This tactic is more than pathetic: it’s deranged and very dangerous.

  3. And the winner of the most bizarre, overwrought, hysterical denunciation of Sarah Palin by a brainless lefty is…
Not so fast Jim Horne, LOL –
Jane Fonda on Twitter – @SarahPalinUSA holds responsibility. As does the violence-provoking rhetoric of the Tea Party. It isn’t enough that Palin just removed the map of Giffords district with gun crosshairs off her website. She holds responsibility Progressive Arizona Rep Gabrielle Giffords is shot. In her ads, Sarah Palin had her targeted in a gun site. Inciting to violence.

  4. I see that Obama wants everyone to have an ID if they go on the Internet. I can see where this is leading…

  5. What seems to me the saddest part of this episode is that the Congresswoman’s own family, rather than being singularly focused on her survival, uses their moment in the spotlight to, as Glenn Reyonds puts it so well, score political points.
Kind of suggests she doesn’t have a loving family, only a set of opportunistic relatives.

  6. You know since reading the leftist screeds blaming Palin for the needless slaughter in Arizona I have reached the conclusion that the shooter was not insane but rather a run of the mill leftist. To any and all insane people out there please accept my deepest and most sincere apology.

  7. Michael Harkov – princess Hanoi Jane has never been held responsible for her actions, so why shouldn’t it make sense to her to hold people responsible for things they have nothing to do with? Works for me.
(Fonda’s vile husband Tom Hayden once called my mother a “right-wing b*tch” to her face. I’m proud of that.)

  8. I revise my post above – Her relatives’ talking politics is not the saddest part of this episode, but one of the sadder. Saddest would have to be the 9-year-old victim.

  9. Jane Fonda is an idiot—well, we already knew that.
As I pointed out above, in 2004, long before Palin’s map, the Democratic Leadership Committee had a map, with targets on it, to show in which districts they were going to concentrate on beating the Republicans.
    Was Jane upset about that?
Again, neither map named or showed a picture of the candidates. The states weren’t even named. The left needs to get a grip. (I know, magical thinking.)

  10. Black Mamba, the vile Tom Hayden is Jane’s EX-husband. I guess even he got tired of the posturing.
    Good for your mom!!

  11. lookout – I think he may have been current at the time. A lot of guys seem to want to divorce Jane.

  12. A Democratic strategist is advising as follows:
One veteran Democratic operative, who blames overheated rhetoric for the shooting, said President Barack Obama should carefully but forcefully do what his predecessor did.
“They need to deftly pin this on the tea partiers,” said the Democrat. “Just like the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people.”

    My, my………

  13. Two can play the Blame Game: Is Daily Kos to blame for Gifford attack?
So where will we be one week from now? I expect that mounting evidence will show the alleged murderer to have had strong Leftist leanings. That will effectively silence this story in the MSM.
When the next shooting occurs, the likes of Krugman, Fonda, and the Daily Kos will be striving to beat their Blame Game record and post baseless attacks in less than 7 seconds.
It’s beyond sick but such folks will NEVER learn. 🙁

  14. Apparently the shooter promoted Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and Marx’s “Communist Manifesto” on his website. Palin and the tea partiers would consider either ideology to be reprehensible. Whereas, the Obama democrats would only consider Hitler’s ideology to be reprehensible.

  15. Sarah Palin should pay a political price for the post on her website. If I had a website with that on there I would be charged and convicted.

  16. It’s obvious that the radical Left is upset with the Obama Dems because Obama has caved to the Republicans on a number of issues.
This was especially obvious when Obama appeared on the Left-wing “Daily Show” a few months ago and the host Jon Stewart disrespectfully called Obama “dude” and excorciated the Prez. Obama has assumed a low media profile ever since — the radical Left hates Obama and the Dems right now. Even Hugo Chavez is upset with the Obama administration — maybe this guy was a FARC assassin!

  17. Apparently the FBI alleged he may of been a member of anti-semitic group called the “American Renaissance”. So to recap, a marxists loon with a history of drug use and a alleged member of a Neo Nazi group attempts to execute a Jew it’s Sara’s fault and the loons on the left wonder why the Tea Party exists. Jesus wept they are dumber than the media that reports the lies.

MSM and the shrieky violent leftwingers better hope one of their progressive nuts don’t harm Sara.

  18. Latest news report from CKNW: “Sea levels will rise 4 metres over the next 1,000 years.”
Facts to support this? None. But it’s what the Canadian MSM calls “news” these days. 🙁
If I didn’t enjoy Roy Green’s show so much, I wouldn’t have to endure the CRAPOLA coming out of ‘NW!

  19. The injection of politics is a distraction from the real questions we should be asking and discussing.
Such as – How did Jared know they would all be together in that particular grocery store parking lot? Was he tipped off? If so by whom? An insider seems plausible. Why were they altogether at that particular parking lot? Were they all together on a bus or something? Why are they focusing on a possible 50 year old white male accomplice which according to every university is the description of who controls the world and is to blame for all the evil and woe, and to whom all students are taught to focus their energy on destroying if they want to create heaven on earth.
So where was Jared’s family or friends in all this? Jared was someone’s son and/or brother. Why did no one intervene on his behalf? Why did the sheriff not act on his earlier threats and have him arrested and evaluated by court order?
Reports indicate that he was kicked out of a pre-algebra class as well as an advanced poetry class and was refused entry by the army. There is more than enough criteria present to have had him hospitalized or at least evaluated(video’s posted on you tube, pattern of social rejection and testimony of others).
A preventable tragedy. Jared had a mental illness or either an acquired or an organic brain injury.

  20. Black Mamba … be nice ~~ azphetc. – click link, genius (you’d be aquitted due to mental incapacity ~~ 🙂

  21. Orlin (in Marquette, or are there several Orlins?) – yeah, I’d better be nice. Otherwise, if he flips, who knows, maybe I’m liable…

  22. I’ve sent every newsroom and jounalist whos email I have a copy of the Dem target map and Obama’s quote. They can’t say they didn’t know

  23. Rose, see my post about this map @ 2:49 and 3:40 p.m.
As I pointed out, “neither [the earlier Democratic Leadership Committee or later Palin] map named or showed a picture of the candidates. The states weren’t even named. The left needs to get a grip. (I know, magical thinking.)”

  24. Who said this*?
    >>> “*A preventable tragedy. Jared had a mental illness or either an acquired or an organic brain injury.”
    Really?
    …-
“Video: Chris Matthews muses on killing Rush Limbaugh”
“Call this the opposite of a tingle up one’s leg. No surprise here from the classiest cable network to drag anchor in the ratings, but consider if someone on Fox had offered this kind of fantasy musing on air about a liberal show host — say, Keith Olbermann or Matthews himself. The Left would have screamed about fascism and brownshirts, and of crypto-signaling for assassinations and the like:
CHRIS MATTHEWS: You guys see Live and Let Die, the great Bond film with Yaphet Kotto as the bad guy, Mr. Big? In the end they jam a big CO2 pellet in his face and he blew up. I have to tell you, Rush Limbaugh is looking more and more like Mr. Big, and at some point somebody’s going to jam a CO2 pellet into his head and he’s going to explode like a giant blimp. That day may come. Not yet. But we’ll be there to watch. I think he’s Mr. Big, I think Yaphet Kotto. Are you watching, Rush?
Live and Let Die? Matthews is into the Roger Moore Bond films? That explains a lot, actually.
Note too, that Matthews isn’t using the dishonest “some people are saying” dodge here, either. He’s openly wistful for the day it happens, telling Politico’s Jonathan Martin and Washington Post reporter Anne Kornblut that “we’ll be there to watch” when someone offs Rush.
Classy. Really, really classy. Does NBC want to stand behind this standard for its broadcasts?”

  25. As the Blogging tory site listed below likes to feature so called leftist blogsite comments, I thought I would return the favor.
“Damian Penny, a lawyer here in the Halifax area just had the quote of the day on this,
“When the last Che Guevara T-shirt has been thrown out, *then* the left can start lecturing us about violent political imagery.”

Poignant words from Sheriff Dupnik (CNN):
“At Saturday’s press conference, Dupnik did not state a motive for the assassination attempt against the Democratic congresswoman. But he suggested that “vitriolic rhetoric” in political debates could have deadly consequences.
“When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government, the anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this county is getting to be outrageous. Unfortunately, Arizona, I think, has become sort of the capital,” he said. “We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry.”

  27. What batb said.
This is not a tragedy for the left insofar as it is the most convenient time to use the shooting of a generally liberal politician (forget about the nine year old girl who was shot- there is no political capital there) to do what they could not do for ages- discredit people who would otherwise wipe the floor with them. Pathetic.

  28. Addendum to post @11:18:
The charade of blaming Tucson on intemperate political discourse is not confined to the left. The left blames the right, sure, but we’re used to it; we expect it; they are beneath contempt. The real outrage, however, is the concerted effort by the ruling class—our politicians and their enablers in the MSN—to place the blame for the Tucson attack and murders on we the people. For criticizing them! For being blunt and impolite about all the ways they are wrecking our lives. It’s our extreme rhetoric that’s to blame, not them.
The Repubs are in on it. They are shamed or cowed into suspending the peoples’ business in congress. Why? Because “an attack on one is an attack on all”. Is Boehner out of his mind? He’s just conceded that it was a political act, without a shred of evidence. Maybe they think voting in favour of killing Obamacare would be unseemly in the circumstances? Why? Because only the heartless are agin Obamacare?
The ruling class is turning this into an attack on we the people. Watch for these “remedies”: more publicly-funded security for politicians to protect them from hysterical and violent citizens; even more demonization of middle America, home of the bitter clingers; even more demonization of Arizona, home of the racist bigot; tighter gun-control laws; even fewer town-hall meetings; “net neutrality”.
Folks, it’s not just the left that won’t let a crisis go to waste.

  29. Such as – How did Jared know they would all be together in that particular grocery store parking lot? Was he tipped off? If so by whom?
Tucson is the Capitol of Arizona.
Congresswoman Giffords has held that same event at the exact same Safeway parking lot several times before.
Loughner was a longtime resident of Tucson.
    Check out Giffords’ wiki entry.

  30. he said. “We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry.”
    ~hugger
I thought Mecca was the “mecca” for prejudice and bigotry.

He’s the only Only ONLY reason ‘NW is still on one of my presets in my car. Otherwise, I’ve long since stopped listening to the vanilla-bland drivel broadcast on that station.
For me, 790 out of Bellingham is my station of choice, carrying Rush, Beck and Hannity.

  32. Great segment just a second ago on CNN as Neal Boortz takes apart anchor Don Lemon, who brought up the “vitriol” and “toning down the rhetoric” arguments from the liberal media.
Boortz read back a bunch of quotes, including “if they bring a knife to a fight, we bring a gun” and asked Lemon if he knows whose quotes those were.
    “No, I don’t”, said Lemon.
After he was informed it was the president, Lemon says, “Well, there’s context in everything”.
When Boortz responded that the media treats such comments differently when they come from the left as opposed to the right, Lemon quickly changes the subject.
It was a thing of beauty.
I doubt whether CNN will be featuring Boortz’s comments in their loop coverage the way they do with those who blame Palin and the Tea Party, among others. It doesn’t quite fit into their narrative.

  33. Real men take responsibility for their actions and reflect. They don’t try to deflect their comments, inferences nor their crosshairs.
Why isn’t Julian Assange dead yet?
    We know where you live.

  34. ‘Late to this post. Thanks for the kudos!
I saw red when I read Ed’s comment, ” … because of the Tea Party [Loughner] was convinced that the government was going to take away all freedom and that the only solution is violence and domestic terrorism,” as though Loughner’s shooting rampage was perfectly legit in response to the open, transparent, and perfectly sensible agenda of the Tea Party.
    HUH?
So, I stated the obvious, which sometimes bears stating! Like so many here, I’m sick to bloody death of those on the Right being blackmailed into either not stating their opinions because they’re not pc, they’re not “progressive,” they’re anti-Zeitgeist or being chastised for stating opinions that don’t toe the Leftist line.
The Left is desecrating the democratic process by their insane bullying and vitriolic rhetoric and, yet, they think they hold the moral high ground.
    They’re delusional and dangerous.

  35. There is only one right opinion, it’s the “progressive” opinion. Any other view is vitriol, ignorance & bigoted.

  36. hugger, Kate’s a -girl-. And so is Sarah Palin.
Incidentally, you are an active, eager participant in the latest, greatest DemocRat effort to censor the internet. Loose talk is the new gun control. Pretty soon you won’t be able to post a jpg of a puppy without getting permission from the Ministry of Speech.
Well, unless the Tea Party gets the job done.

  37. phantom:
Must be Julian Assange’s fault that this kid is influenced by Marxist/ National socialist thought.
Sheesh. What a non-sequiter bully hugger portrays himself to be.

  38. batb, you are on a roll.
SYF, indeed, good ol’ Julian must have endangered a few people with his inflamed rhetoric about the eeeevile USA.
I’m going to have fun with this.

  39. Well you must admit according to all the leftists on the web Palin is much more powerful than Oblamebush. Why her merely putting an X on a map is sufficient for people to drop dead. They should hire her to hunt down bin Laden. Oh sorry my bad, bin Laden is on the leftist side.
Lessee here how about if she puts an X on Crawford Texas would that satisfy the loony leftists?

  40. Let’s go down memory road shall we: What reporter wanted Harper to get hit by a bus and then stomped to death? What Party in the US has demonized independant voter as racists bigots whilst their union thugs beat up a black man? I just read an article outlining that the demorats are using this incident to raise funds, jebus wept the sick farkers are beyond a cure.
I blame the shooter, not the Tea Party, not Sara, not the demented Demorats nor the Republicans but the man who took a gun and held it to a woman’s head and shot her and then he shot other innocents. In my world I place blame on the person for their actions not a political ethos.

  41. On Fox News, I’ve just heard an interview with Patricia Maisch, the brave woman, who grabbed the magazine that Loughner was planning to reload. Maisch seems to be an intelligent, reliable witness and a fine citizen.
Then, at the end of the interview, she calmly said that she agreed with the sheriff’s take on the shooting, and she said that it was the fault of the “extreme right wing”: their radio shows, etc. I was shocked and dismayed.
Shep let that go—maybe a good thing, under the circumstances. However, as batb has just written here: “The Left is desecrating the democratic process by their insane bullying and vitriolic rhetoric and, yet, they think they hold the moral high ground.
    “They’re delusional and dangerous.”
I think Ms Maisch is delusional: she just laid serious, unsubstantiated blame—and got away with it, on Fox News.
The 6:00 p.m. Fox News Report also pussyfooted around the heinous behaviour of the left: Brit Hume was pretty solid, but not one person mentioned Sarah Palin.
We’re living in very difficult times.
