  1. Robert W may be in disguise and resting on the shoulder of the shepherd on the right. Best seat in the house.

  2. bluetech, I appreciate your comments, and apologize if I misinterpreted your statue remarks. A blessed Christmas to you and your family!
(But I do know how larben feels: the Catholic Church is widely misunderstood, and seems to be the last identifiable group that’s allowed to be ridiculed openly.)
Robert, I’ll be checking in periodically today to see if Jesus makes it to the manger!

  3. Ha ha, yes!
As Kathy Shaidle pointed out, the Infant Jesus does not appear in the Nativity scene until Christmas Day.
Catholicism strikes again: befuddling Protestants and exposing secular ignorance!
Oh, and a Merry Christmas to you all!

  4. Oh those last of the iconoclasts and idolaters!
    Kathy Shaidle to the rescue…
BTW the ox and ass are there to remind us of ourselves in our less than finer moments…
Don’t crash the Creche all at once now!
Remember, when life treats you like an ass, the correct response is to be a bigger donkey!
This would be in contrast to Large Live Animals.
A Merry & Holy Christmas Season to the playful gang at SDA and all the trusty lurkers who enjoy the read.
PS: Remember to keep partying for at least 12 days.

  5. Kate @3:07 – “If they’re just waiting for the arrival of the baby, why aren’t they staring at Mary???
Something just doesn’t add up here.”
Maybe they’re weirded out by the guy with the camera 🙂

  6. It could also be that Jesus isn’t a child anymore but the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
He’s sitting at the right hand of the Father.

  7. Well, I’m a Christian and I thought that was hilarious.
And yes, it is traditional not to put the baby in the creche until Christmas Day, though not everyone does this. Some people don’t add the wise men figures either until Epiphany (January 6), the feast day of the Three Kings.

  8. It’s getting kind of late to put the baby into the scene, unless, of course, Robert W. hasn’t had a chance amidst his family’s Christmas festivities to pop down to St. Paul’s Hospital to take another look and grab another photo.
I sure hope the dingo didn’t get the baby!! 😉
Merry Christmas, everyone and every blessing of this wonder-full season!

  9. Good news! Baby Jesus arrives in the manger!
Well, that’s supposed to be how the story ends — well, how it begins, actually!
    Thanks for your sleuthing, Robert!

  10. What is really freaky is the 3 wise men didn’t show up till 2 years later, yet they are in the barn before Jesus shows up.

  11. My wise men, johnbrooks, are not in the stable yet. They’re stashed behind a picture waiting … they’ll arrive at the stable, gifts in hand, on January 6, when the Church I worship in celebrates Epiphany.
