  1. Good morning, Hans-Christian and Oz.
    I appreciate your posts.
Maximilian Kolbe’s a hero of mine. I’m not sure that Condell has “the eyes to see or the ears to hear”, in order to understand such powerful and self-sacrificial witnesses as Father Kolbe.

Look the way I see it is in terms of how our modern idea of liberty came into being. The whole idea that man is entitled to freedom or that man has rights comes from the Christian understanding that people are children of God. I’m not saying one branch of Christianity laid down the US constitution and in fact they tried to be inclusive to all branches of Christianity. The point is though that it was laid down with a Christian understanding. No one has to be Christian you could be whatever but lets say atheism or deism, where did it come from? It came out of opposition to Christianity so fundamentally they’re all linked. Which is why Islam is so challenging because it’s like this foreign organism and we’re not quite sure what to do with it.
“Christians are the most uncharitable people I have ever met towards one another.”
You know Christians behaving badly is nothing new. Everyone from every creed or nation has had brutal and sordid histories it happens. With respect to that British dude: some people are petty and some are ignorant or whatever I’m not so much of a alinskyite puritan (again not saying that you are) that I think they people need to be pure as freshly washed linens. The world is complex and there’s a lot of history and historical grievances to add on to ordinary emotions. As much as I’d like to kick some people in the teeth that’s just how they are and it has nothing to do with anything really. Like in the Simpsons episode with Bart’s Elephant “just like with humans some animals are just jerks”. Plus Britain is no longer the shining example of genteel civility it was when I was a kid which wasn’t too long ago.
“the strong shouldn’t rule the weak, because you are the weak.”
This is true and I’m quite happy in the status quo actually. I just brought up that point because if you step back and you think oh we’re just an random collection of atoms. Equality and universality is not rational and demonstrably false. You can’t divorce our laws from our religion laws were not formed out of this rational religious vacuum. I honestly don’t think that many reasonable people would defer to this organized chaos that we live in. Which is worrisome because I would hope that our society can be preserved at least until I die.

  3. I know he’s an atheist and despises my religion, but the fact remains this guy is saying things that need to be said, and one of the VERY few with the guts to do so.
    So kudos to him, anyway.

    Well put.
You have highlighted your own individual view of the subject soundly, and it’s a valid view IMO.
Yes hopefully we get to live and pass on our way of life as we enjoy it to our own decendents.
I don’t believe Islam is compatable with our western culture and values, which by demographic growth makes it the biggest threat to our sovereignty.
Apologies for typo’s sent from iPod.
