Field Goal

Spencer:

A small victory indeed: after all, why is there an “Islamic Heritage Month” at all at Canada’s Department of National Defence? When is Jewish Heritage Month? Christian Heritage Month?
Still, any victory is…a victory. Delic is head of the Canadian Islamic Congress, about which you can read below. Kudos to Blazing Cat Fur, Steynian, and the incomparable Kathy Shaidle. … the inevitable tetchy response.

  1. Some moderate, funny how they always claim to be moderates until you’re tied up in their basement.

  2. Just a thought but perhaps the Imams could better spend their spare time talking to their own “flock” and work on weeding out the terrorist element that spawns from that “religion of peace”.
MacKay was right to cancel him. We still have soldiers fighting and dying at the hands of creeps who are a segment of the Islamic religion.

  3. Did anyone see old eagle-beak on CTV coming down on the Conservatives and Mackay? Has there ever been such a biased reporter in the Canadian media? What am I saying, there has been dozens, but this guy really gets under my skin.

  4. Islamic Heritage Month??? WTF are those idiots in the puzzle palace doing? NDHQ has always done weird sh*t to play to politicians in the past (mostly lieberal governments) but this takes the cake.

  5. I’ve noticed that MSM reported, if they reported the story, the story with their liberal pro-Islam biasness. Alas CTV’s reporter was practically licking Dirtbag Georges on screen image. Creepy bunch at CTV these days.

  6. tsk tsk tsk.
if this had been let stand in 40 years the druids and rastafarians would also be giving speeches in front of the DND.
    ‘magine a ‘lefty’ saying that . . . . .

  7. I find it funny. Whenever a prominent Jew, or Christian, or Buddhist, or whatever, is scheduled to speak somewhere, ever notice how they never need to be prefaced by the word “moderate”?
    Funny that.

  8. The editor of that rag was goaded into replying to a commenter who complained of the obvious bias in the piece: “Which way did you want us to slant this? Your way?”
This is a surprisingly revealing answer, and perhaps more honest than the editor intended, since it reveals the fact that the editor really doesn’t believe in all that pap about “objectivity”. Or to be more accurate, he believes that the only objective truth is what he happens to believe, and anything else is not only irrelevant, but “slant”.
I think Canadian journalists really need to learn humility before they will ever be effective at delivering the news.

  9. “Islamic Heritage Month.” I say we should celebrate that right after we celebrate Muslim advances to the aeronautics industry month?

  10. I’m livid. Absolutely livid.
When are we going to say enough is enough loud and strong enough that this kind of thing won’t happen again, especially at that level.
The fellows who have been fighting overseas know dam! well what Islamic heritage is:
    female and little boy abuse.
So-called moderate Muslims don’t tackle those subjects.
“Imams could better spend their spare time talking to their own “flock”.”
    Amen to that, Liz J.

  11. Ask your kids what multicultural month it is in their school. Why it’s “Islamic Heritage Month.”
Go ahead and ask then demand that everyone get fired.

  12. Doesn’t being referred to, or calling oneself a “moderate”, tell us there are better and worse degrees? What constitutes normal? Is “moderate” their normal?
So much to learn about Muslims, so little time!

  13. What the hell is going on? This is political correctness run completely amok.
    Enough is enough.

  14. And I have to say that the comments by the “News Editor” from the Vancouverite are quite telling. “News Editor”? More like propagandist.
    What a joke.

  15. I find it funny. Whenever a prominent Jew, or Christian, or Buddhist, or whatever, is scheduled to speak somewhere, ever notice how they never need to be prefaced by the word “moderate”?
    Says Colin
Might that be becouse “normal” Muslims are not moderate at all?

  16. Canadian Muslims are riled by a decision by Canada’s defence minister to yank a speech by a B.C. Imam that was scheduled for Monday.
And yet no one of the politically correct persuasion popped up to yell “not all muslims!”
    It’s an amazing old world.

  17. It’s not the military that is the problem it’s the bureaucracy at HDHQ. Too many civil servants who don’t understand the military and are worried about political correctness

  18. As a member of the military there is an “X” Heritage month every few months: women’s heritage month, Black heritage, Asian heritage, Aboriginal heritage. Normally, these presentations try to show the accomplishments of the given group. For example, during black heritage month, they’ll publish information of the all-black battalion that served during WWI, etc. As for the Asians (mostly Japanese), they’ll present information about the service of Japanese-Canadians in WWI and WWII (much like their U.S. cousins, Japanese-Canadians served in the Canadian military as code-breakers, etc). First Nations soldiers served with distinction in both World Wars and Korea. This is really excellent information for military personnel, because many, unfortunately the products of today’s progressive school curriculae, do not know the history of the Armed Forces in which they serve. Having said this, I believe that the Muslims who are in the military serve only to obfuscate the obvious. Their goal is to push the idea that Islam is a benign “religion” and they try to win over the less knowledgeable (which includes the gullible, civilian grandees who people the Dept of National Defence–who advise the gov’t on policy). I just harken to Winston Churchill’s quote about Mohammedanism–which unfortunately has been lost in the PC fog.

  19. How can you be moderate in a insanity that treats women like cattle? It is in for a penny in for a pound. Next Question why would anyone want to be a moderate in such organization?

  20. Thanks for that, CJunk.
    Here are our main questions:
If there are all these “moderate” Muslims in Canada, why what _this guy_ chosen? After all, he heads the CIC, a group the Harper govt recently claimed it would be distancing itself from.
Leftists angry at this outcome need to re-examine their commitment to their beloved belief in ‘separation of church and state,’ no? Would they have approved of “Christian Heritage Month”? Take a guess.

  21. Hey, I’m sure that the DND had loads of fun during OctoberFest in the 1918 and I hear the 1942 Octoberfest was just the bomb.

  22. Political Islamists’ remake their image daily to ensure they have a steady stream of leftarded mewling supporters in the wings. DND should not be kissing the Islamists’ asses, it’s offensive to the max that our military members are subjected to Islamic propaganda like Islamic Heritage Month utter nonsense contrived to make the whiny ever offended Islamists’ feel better about the fact they have no roots or history in the west.

  23. Rose
[……..about the fact they have no roots or history in the west…..]
    Beyond their contributions…
…..inspiring Charles Martel to institute feudalism to provide knights to stem the Muslim invasion from “Andalusia”…(see Battle of Tours).
…..Inspiring Northern Germans and Poles to unit to relieve the Seige of Vienna by the Turks.
…..Inspiring the Mediteranean nations and Austria to form a coalition to defeat the Turkish navy.
…..Inspiring European Nations to conquer/colonize North Africa to end the Barbarry Pirate menace.
…..Inspiring the US to form a NAVY and Marine Corps for the specific purpose of controlling the Barbarry Pirates.

  24. Might I also suggest a “National Agnostics Day”, or perhaps a “National Atheist Day”? Not to over-do that old and golden remembrance chesnut, “National Denier (of anything) Day”.

That’s right. I noticed that “asian heritage month” had many articles devoted to it last May.
But why shouldn’t muslims serve? Part of integration & adapting to our ways, eh?
And we were fighting with muslims a few short years ago, or at least on the same side.
Incidently, those days Robert Spencer was rather on the Serbian side, both him & them being Orthodox Christians & all.
The fact that Spencer has talked up this “small victory” is probably owing to the fact that Imam Zijad Delic is a Bosnian Muslim.
[His co-sponsors for the New York event, SIOE still have lamentations for the heroic Radovan Karadžić on their site.]
But I would have thought he’d be busy gearing up for the Geert Wilders trial, or as he put it earlier —
// It is not exaggerating to say that the Geert Wilders trial is a defining moment in the history of Western civilization. //
    Delic’s undelivered speech.

  26. Even the National Post is reporting that Delic’s speech was about encouraging Muslims in Canada to adopt a more modern reading of the Koran and to choose integration over insularity.
Fantastic job is quashing such a hateful message. And to think that, on a different day, you fancy yourselves defenders of free speech.
