The Canadian cable universe is soooo boring – mostly because the 3rd rate Canuck directors and producers they support are stuck on the idea that boring personal stories featuring homos, lesbians, junkies, vindictive minorities, miscreant loners, and an assortment of various other lefty deviant mascots, are more exciting that Steinbeck-esque story telling or classic romantic drama.
    Our history or science or Drama channels are pure wasted band width compared to their US counter parts.
    TV is still a wasteland but cable is an expensive wasteland and Canadian cable TV is a preachy, boring expensive wasteland.

He, desperately seeking to avoid the sexual component, talked about the value of multiple parents, and the economic value of having two incomes and a full time homemaker. I pointed out that the same could be accomplished by inviting his mother-in-law to move in. The look on his face was priceless.

    Having forced society to dispense with its traditional legal definition of marriage (MAN+WOMAN), gays should not be surprised that the definition can only continue to become more and more elastic.
    Gays have been hoist with their own pétard; it will be most amusing to listen to their futile rationalizations against polygamy.

    Considering the growing gender imbalance in China and India due to parents selecting the gender of babies and preferring sons, it’s only a matter of time.

  13. Rather than ‘opened minded’, the polygamy enthusiasts are of the opinion their prospective harem should be ‘open legged’…
    Bet ya can’t stop at just 4…
    A better question should be, “Can you marry your mother in law?”
    That would leave the polygamy enthusiasts breathless…

    Wait until the children start fighting over their inheritance, then you’ll see how well adjusted they are.
    They’ll be dealing with the consequences of your personal choices.
    And you’re against underaged or arranged marriages?
    Gee, then you must understand how most people view the polygamous setup you have, with the same sort of sense that a line has been crossed while flipping the bird to society as a whole.

  15. I’ll never forget back in the Reform days, Stockwell Day was being interviewed on gay marriage. One reason he opposed it is that it opened up the possibility of polygamy.
    You should have seen the look the interviewer gave him. Now the man is a downright prophet!

  17. Of course this was going to happen. Gay marriage isn’t as shocking as it was. Polygamy is shocking.
    But the difference between gay marriage and polygamy is that polygamists aren’t demanding legal recognition.
    Yet.

  18. After you strip away all of the BS about polygamy, it is about the desire of the husband to have many partners while simultaneously denying women the same freedom. As far as I know, there is not a single polygamous culture/religion that is not misogynistic. Women and children are always treated poorly in these societies.
    Another problem is that the taxpayers will be forced to subsidize poly families because they arrange their finances to maximize their take from the multitude of government programs for the “poor”.

  24. I actually remember when TV had real families. Not single or half baked gay or single mother shows. Those where the training bra’s socially acceptable.At that time.
    Believe it or not single parents where widowers or secret divorce’s . Secret because it was a social shame.
    Those where the training bra’s of getting us used to this immorality by making the victim pluggable. Remind you of anything today?
    Till they could fill the air waves of the ugly side of humanity. Single parents became the norm on TV with its alternatives. Never wonder again how cultures die. Your watching it.
    From Happy Family gays, to Married folks who hate each other. Blended families , stirred families, abused families. Hollywood’s idea of real life. Desperate housewives (Desperate whores is what my aunt calls em) are an example.
    What ever happened to Bill Cosby? Even the Partridge family was better than the gruel where handed.

  27. Actually the beginning of the destruction of the traditional concept of marriage was when the courts gave shacking-up the same status as marriage; referred to as “common-law”. Once the gate was opened it came as no surprise to find all kinds of different combinations demanding recognition as marriage. It is only a matter of time until multiple sex partners and even non human ones are accepted. Think I exaggerate? Wait and see.

  34. This is precisely why God gave us opposing thumbs; to change the channel on the remote whenever one of the freak shows come on.
    From the inquisitive side, I wonder about the logistics involved. One big master bedroom, separate beds, separate rooms or separate houses? And as any male that has lived in a house with several females can attest, how in the heck does one find an empty washroom in the morning or even closet space? Curious, but will pass on watching this show or anything else that highlights, dwarfs, short people, moms with litters, recovering addicts, hoarders or Jerry Springer.
