Those Moderate Muslims!

Via Michael Rubin;

A group armed with tear gas, sticks, and bottles attacked 400 art enthusiasts who filled galas at the Galerinon, Galerioutlet, and Eclitsis, three art galleries in Istanbul’s Beyoglu district. The group chanted religious slogans, cried out “You cannot drink alcohol here,” and broke the windows of the galleries. Dozens of people were battered and five people were wounded. The victims complained that police nearby did not intervene and told them to call the police hotline. None of the assailants was taken into custody.

  1. i made many many visits to Constantinople in the late 60’s….marine-wise if you dig…used to do this and that there…amazingly transitional society…turns out to be a fail….so far….
we bought our opium from the bartender at the Hilton…
anyhow they’re still primitives ain’t they..
btw hate to brag but i sailed UP the Bosporus into the Black Sea with obviously a ferocious unexpectable following wind(with some help from the auxiliary)and sailed into the precincts of Varna and Constanta in the black sea…i was a young feller but it was there i learned all i needed to know about Socialism..
and this was waaay before ciao/sescu ever assumed power…

  2. as far as turkey goes if anyone cares(sartor resartus!)about fashion let me relate a story that shouldn’t be lost…
in constantinople if you wanted a jacket or any other such vain conceit you of course went to a tailor…who always was sucking up with tea and bullshit…the actual tailors upstairs were working under 10 watt bulbs upstairs ..and were 10 years old…i saw this…
and the porters in the narrow streets of old constaninople wore rucksacks on their backs to carry 500 pound parcels from one shop to another…
anyway the point being…i would arrive for an order…and the measuring of the jacket would be with a string…reminded me of the Incan quipu….they would measure neck to shoulder..tie a knot in the string..armpit to waist..tie a knot..and seriatim…come back a month later and their it was…beau brummel would have been in heaven
but understand that i could FEEL the enmity as i did in all of north africa…they did NOT like me…cause why?..because i were a white man AND an infidel…
i can remember after the yom kipper thing…some moroccan asshole after i’d flagged for pratique coming on board asking who among us was Jew…
of course we said we ALL were…then they slunk off..

  3. My experiences in Turkiye (the preferred spelling these days) and with Turks was all positive. Mind you, many of them were armed forces types and were definitely Ataturk true believers, not hardline Islamists. However, the merchants were all friendly and cooperative and spoke whatever language was printed on the money in your wallet. We offered a kid some money for taking us to a store we were looking for and he refused, saying that the chance to practice his English was payment enough. It’s too bad the hardliners are taking control of the only successful Islamic state.

  4. yes of course..but who’s making the running nowtimes…
    it’s kinda political now…see?
    ever heard of the Germans?

  5. It seems to me that the police in Byzantium have behaved, in this instance, no different than would the Metro Police in Toronto under the same circumstances.

  6. Ergodan’s new Turkey is slowly immerging. How long before Kemalism is dead, and stoning slutty women is all the rage……again.

  7. One less NATO nation as Turkey rolls back the Clock of Progress to the 7th century & barbarism.
Watch for a mass exodus as secular Turks realize the clock’s direction and try and escape to this century across the border.

  8. ““You cannot drink alcohol here,” and broke the windows of the galleries.”
It’s a good thing there are no art galleries in New York City. Especially near Ground Zero.

  9. I just discovered last night
that our local LCBO now has Efes beer from Turkey!
Give it a try if you see it
    it’s great.

  10. Simmer down, people.
Yes, the infidel chasers are having a bit of a revival here and there, but, in my experience, there is no wide-spread anti-infidel intifada going on.
Just came back from Cairo, and I had only positive experiences. E.g. the female dress code is very varied. One sees burkas as well as tight jeans & short skirts. And in the meeting I attended we had a mix of muslims, hindus, and infidels, of course without any issues, in fact quite the opposite.
Same thing in India & Dubai.
    (Saudi is of course different.)
No personal experience from Turkey, but a friend of mine lived there for 10 years, and he and his family absolutely rave about the place.
The key point in Turkey, as well as in the West, is to defend the values of our “secular liberal democracy” model. This model is NOT threatened from external sources, like Islam, but instead from weaknesses within (multi-culti “all cultures area equally good” BS, PC, tolerance of the intolerant, poor defense of individual rights, etc).

That’s the thing about this cyber-world we live in. Start a little trend in Caledonia Ontario, and next thing you know, everybody’s copying you…

  12. Who are you trying to kid, Johan I Kanada?
    Just for starters:
In Egypt, where the Coptic Church celebrated Christmas on January 7 (following the old Julian and Coptic calendars), seven people were murdered following midnight Mass. According to press reports, riots then erupted during the funeral processions for six of the seven victims of the massacre. Six of the seven victims were Coptic Christians; the seventh victim was a Muslim.
Coptic Christians make up a mere 10 percent of the population of Egypt, and anti-Christian violence has long been a fact of life for the suffering minority. Attacks on the Coptic community are carried out with the slightest of provocations. As the MSNBC.com report notes,

  13. Tuesday November 4 2009.
Egyptian Muslim Mob Attacks Thousands of Coptic Christians in Egypt:
The mob looted, vandalized and burnt Coptic properties estimated for six million Egyptian pounds (over one million dollars), while Copts are still hiding indoors fearing for their lives. There are reports that many Copts were attacked and injured. According to many eye witnesses, the mob made wooden crosses and burnt them in the streets while shouting “Allah Akbar.” …..

  14. Egyptian Writer Ahmad Al-Aswani: It’s “Open Season” On Egypt’s Copts
Ahmad Al-Aswani, an Egyptian writer, writes extensively on political topics from a critical and reformist perspective. In the following essay, posted June 7, 2008 on the liberal website Aafaq.org, [1] he focuses on the escalating series of physical attacks on members of the Coptic minority in Egypt.
“What is happening is an attempt to terrorize Egypt’s Copts, and to force them either to emigrate from the homeland once and for all, or to convert to Islam to protect themselves and their families [from harm] and to protect their property from the confiscation mentioned by many Islamic publications.
And on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on it goes.

  15. September 15 2010.
(AINA) — A new wave of defamation by Islamists against Coptic Pope Shenouda III and the Coptic Church is seen by many observers as a serious provocation to sectarian violence against the Copts, and the possibility of Egypt being dragged into civil war.
On September 15, Qatar-owned Al-Jezirah TV broadcast a program called Without Limits, presented by moderator Ahmad Mansour, who hosted the Islamist Dr. Selim el-Awah, former Secretary-General of the World Council of Muslim Scholars, which has stunned and enraged Copts inside and outside of Egypt. “El-Awah is simply threatening Copts that the forthcoming chaos after Mubarak dies will see mass violence against the Copts,” says Magdy Khalil, Coptic activist and head of Middle East Freedom Forum.

And If I was to include the Jihadist attacks in India agianst the Hindus, I would be here for a week with a burned out keyboard.

  16. never yet met a muslim i felt truly comfortable with…or trusted of course…
had a knife pulled on me oncet in tangier…was suckered once ‘police’-wise…this is all in the way of being business partners mind…made it back to the Mons Calpe(the ferry back to Gibraltar just in time…)
nope…my spidey sense and experience taught me 40 years ago that these primitive intellects saturated in friday night hoe-downs ain’t our buddies…
btw i always enjoyed the fact i had the blood of the tribe coursing through my veins…and those monobrowed stiffs couldn’t smell it..

  17. Sounds alot like England, the police like to stand back and watch the Islamists’ screech scream riot and basically act without fear that they shall be held legally accountable.

  18. “The victims complained that police nearby did not intervene and told them to call the police hotline. None of the assailants was taken into custody.”
Standard operating procedure for OPP. What’s all the upset? Like Jaimie McMaster said, they’re just copying policing policies from Ontario.
What will be interesting is when the infidels start hitting back. Then we shall see how much spine these fanatics really have. Beating up some liberal art lover in a surprise attack is one thing. Having the art lover and ten of his buddies come looking for you in a dark alley, that’s something else.
Or showing up to bust the art gallery and finding its full of armed and cranky men. That could be fun too.

  19. Or….just cut off the leading actress’s feet for participating in a movie about Afghanistan:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/22/movies/22tulip.html?_r=4
The movie, ‘The Black Tulip’ was previewed last night by NATO types in Kabul:
“The Black Tulip,” a tragic love story that Ms. Cole finished at Warner Brothers, is scheduled for its premiere at the Ariana Cinema Theater in Kabul on Thursday. (Military leaders will get a private viewing on Wednesday at NATO’s International Security Assistance Force headquarters.)”

  20. “scratch a Muslim” ……and find a homicidal pedophile.”
LOL Or at least one that reveres their homicidal pedophile prophet.

  21. Steve,
Moral equivalency? Yes, of course. If you terrorize, kill, and maim, in the name of Islam or Hinduism (or Maoism for that matter, if we’re talking about India) it is pretty much the same, isn’t it?

  22. Posted by: Johan i Kanada>
“If you terrorize, kill, and maim, in the name of Islam or Hinduism (or Maoism for that matter….”
Johan, one sick and twisted culture at a time please. Islam is a global franchise not unlike McDonalds while the others tend to focus their murderous affections on a local/regional “mom & pop’ corporate model.
We’ll get to them, but first things first.

  23. “BB @11:25 – they’re monsters. How can anyone be so depraved?”
Easy, have you ever read the life of Muhammad?

  24. Black Mamba, I am convinced that life as we knew it, is behind us now.
Our government, the Opposition, and the laws of this country have placed us in harm’s way as far as having an even hand.
All I see left to us is to expose more of the truth of what others want to bring to us, and have planned to bring to us in The West.
They say if not this generation, then the next. Or the next…..
There is one site available online, owned by a take-no-prisoners-type presents evidence so blunt in its editorials, and so brutal in its scope, that one needs to take in small doses at a time.
****And one must take every precaution to block from young eyes.****
Google ‘bare naked i*sl*m’ starred for filters and such…..
He stands by his articles from the regular media around the world, and videos from those countries who would change ours.
Truth can change a person. This will.

  25. I’ve been to Bare Nake Islam’s page and it is graphic as Hell. To see how barbaric these animals really are everyone should see at least once(over 18)some of their Sharia justice beheadings. And while you’re vomiting keep in mind the liberal mantra that, “all cultures are equal”.
