  1. So the lying lieberal angry faced mouthpieces are losing viewers, how can that be? Wolf Wolf they cry, globull warming/y2k/ice age quick call the crisis center for a new crisis you liars running the media, its quickly falling apart, us stupid folks out here are not watching the stuider people in there Katey.

  2. I liked the comments the best. Man is this Media in for big trouble. You treat people like fools or children, this is your reward.
    Utter contempt!
Something that they just can’t see. Its like watching puppets with strings naked to the light.
The fact they will fall own the sword of progressivism knowing its parsimonious , speaks of a group of cultists, not businessmen or Journalists.
    JMO

  3. How long before they get a government bail-out? After all, we can’t have people out there getting news from mere amateurs on the Internet. We need professional JournoListers to properly spin, ahem vet, the information for the benefit of the rubes, ahem viewers.

  4. Yet they do not change – if anything they have doubled down on their progressive anti conservative anti western propaganda.
That puts lie to the canard that the media sensationalizes stories to sell more papers or attract more viewers. They run their narratives because they are in agreement and complicit in advancing the progressive agenda, and have been for the last 40+years.

  5. “The 2008-2009 season included coverage of the 2008 presidential election and inauguration.”
Evidently 739,000 viewers have wised up.

  6. Ward
That seems to be the case….Their inspiration is not profit, or informing but indoctrinating….lefties first and last….objectivity is just a word.
It’s identical to the stuck on stupid anti-Isreali Jews like Chumpsky…….
This is a from of primary for November….having control of a media without viewers/subscribers is little advantage.
The Dems are running out of time to bail the media out(if that hasn’t happened already)……Come November their option of a bailout will evaporate….then the blood bath(financial) will really begin…..

  7. Here’s my take:
    1. Lost was interesting, it actually made people think
    2. People will like shows like Lost – shows that challenge; shows that require us to think about our interactions with others, and our roles in time, space, and locale
    3. Oh who am I kidding, people just want to watch “Dancing With the Stars”
    :-/

  8. Hmm. My impression of Lost was that they were just making it up as they went, without any real overall narrative. As one reviewer said, “they’ll keep spooling out cryptic references they’re just pulling out of their *** until the viewership declines, and then wrap it up with some BS explanation and claim that was what was really going on from the beginning.”
    Not unlike CBS News, actually.
Oh, okay, okay. CBS News at least has an overall narrative.

  9. If you look at total viewers versus under 54 viewers for each network, it appears that 75% of people watching network news are over 54. I would guess that their audience is literally dying off, not to be replaced.

  10. So – according to these stats there about 20M Americans walking around with a network news lobotomy. let’s hope it’s as hard for them to find a polling station as it is for them to tie their shoes correctly.

  11. Any recent info on how many watch FOX News.
My guess is that’s why CBC, CTV and Global don’t want the competition of SUN News Media.

  12. The smarmy reporter from broadcast news is giddy this morning that Harpers govt. will maybe be defeated on the scraping the registry today. Hope that idiot remembers to save some giddyness along with the other angry faces in media, when their doctor tells them it will be 10 monthes for an MRI, or there is no hospital bed for his child who was just run over on her bike etc. Endorsing with enthusiasm FAILURE, that is our current Canadian media. Please speed Sun News.

  13. Dim Reaper said: “So – according to these stats there about 20M Americans walking around with a network news lobotomy.”
Sadly, yes. On the bright side, Rush Limbaugh’s audience is larger than that. Even the most hate-filled Leftists say his daily is 14.5 million. Making allowances for the usual Leftist lying, cheating and stealing it would be statistically conservative to double that figure to 29 million daily.
I’ve seen estimates of up to 50 million daily Dittoheads of late. So I guess we know where all those network news viewers went, eh?
Now, Ward makes an important point above: “That puts lie to the canard that the media sensationalizes stories to sell more papers or attract more viewers.” Ward dude, you are a vast genius. That is the first time I’ve seen this meme laid out like that, and you are 100% right. The MSM is -not- doing what they do to “sell more papers”.
Limbaugh and FOX are selling more papers -by far-. It isn’t even close. SUN-TV will get more news audience than CTV/Glowball/CBC/CHUM put together even if they trot out Quasimodo as announcer. Put a fine looking blondy infobabe out there and they’ll be number one with a bullet.
The liberal media is accelerating Left in the face of MASSIVE LOSSES. Like, historically unprecedented kinda massive. Like, you’d have to be insane to do anything other than short MSM stocks.
That clearly means that -somebody- is propping them up for purposes other than making money by doing media. They are like a loss-leader investment, where you keep the bad restaurant open now so you can make a killing on the real estate later.
What kind of payoff would it need to be to make that feasible? A really, really BIG frickin’ payoff. Like control of the richest country in the world, maybe.
Who is big enough to pull a stunt like that? How about a Euro/Chicom/Saudi consortium backing the DemocRats? That’s just a wild-assed guess, but at this point it explains the MSM’s behavior better than mere incompetence. Stupidity can explain a lot, but these losses are just too big for the accountants not to have pulled the plug on them by now if money were being considered the point of being in business.
    Just sayin’.

Spoken with the true contempt of the “enlightened” for everyday people.
These everyday people do have numerous alternative choices for accurate news, Dim. It’s not a case of not watching broadcast network news/UNinformed vs.watching broadcast network news/MISinformed.

  15. You really need to keep your eye on the news gathering orgs like CP and AP and Reuters…
Lots of reasons to focus on them ….. while the broadcasters commit themselves to the tombs…. the agit propsters at those news gathering businesses are getting more desperate.
One big issue is developing that affects bloggers and internet pundits and that is the intention of AP etal to muzzle anyone not on the paying customer list. They will also be exerting pressure on governments to give them broader control under copyright laws.
Expect them to be seeking license to control not only who uses their material … but how it is used. AP has already taken first steps in this direction.

  16. Another aspect of the great decline in news media consumption is …as pointed out by Greg above the demographics of an aging boomer pop.
This decline is also pushed by the nature of any younger consumers.
They are the product of the ‘progressive’ educational system changes of the last 40 years and one consequence of that is a great decline in the areas of world knowledge, history and most importantly ……… critical thinking skills.
The media high foreheads have been cynically hoping and trying to take advantage of this by the dumbing down of their product. This is the target demographic of today’s mass media and those producers have NO respect for their audience.
They long ago wrote off the over 50 crowd who maintain any sense of balance and tradition and thaqt could very well be reflected in the ongoing and blatant contempt displayed. This could also well be a part of the effort to win the hearts and minds of the younger generations. Sort of … like look at us … we hate the old folks too.
But …. the joke’s on these would be arbiters of opinion … because the success of the people they are trying to create a bond with don’t give a crap.
The only folks they are still holding onto are the most hopelessly uncritical and uninformed and those too thick to figure out they are being gamed. Gradually even those will fade off……..
    Machievellian plotters?
    More Cluseauian demagogs!
BTW … just got a phone survey call! Who would I vote for if a federal election was held today? Press “2” for Conservative.
