Ezra demolished him. Poor guy.
Looking forward to the book.
I’ve never trusted anyone whose main premise for avoiding debate is that debate just prevents us from moving forward.
Truth is we need energy. And the cheaper the energy the better. If greenpeace’s solutions where realistic they wouldn’t need reams of government funding and legislation to make them a reality.
The market is not some “system” put in place, its a fundamental rule of our society, attempting to bypass the market by inventing ‘costs’ will not fool the market and attempting to fool the market into accepting higher costs for a basic input (energy) will do nothing accept make us poorer.
Look what was happening at the turn of the 20th century with power plants, PRIVATE business was out there building dams and power station, going bankrupt and making fortunes attempting to provide power to the masses.
Ezra makes so much sense that it just pisses the progressives off that they have no logical response to it.
I’m looking forward to the day when we all have flux capacitors that use household waste as energy source. But until then we need oil. Canadian oil sands it the vehicle that drives the economy not only in Alberta but in Ontario and Quebec.
But not only that, every acre that is open pit mined will be reclaimed with lush vegetation that consumes carbon and reverses global warming, climate change or global climate disruption.
It doesn’t get any better than that.
Ezra slayed the greenie! He is playing their game, and talking about LIBERAL ethics. The Liberals are failing, the greenie guy couldn’t explain why they don’t protest in Iran or Saudia Arabia.
Ezra rocked, the greenie sucked.
But But what will happen to the little TV stations that cried WOLF Wolf, like CBC abd CTV and the Grope and Fail and Turdstar news from Tormento Ontario if there is no eeeeevil Alberta Tarrrrrsands to attack, their validity has always been in question, what with the likes of Fife the magic newsfairy trying his pixiedust hairdo to the limit to “shait” on the eeeeevil Steeeeven Harper, Oh No the humanity from the west Oh No they might not like wasting 2 billion more on a useless registry that the Iggster likes, Oh NO. Lets evolve Canada, and throw these Turdough throwbacks back where they belong, in the cesspool!
we need energy. And the cheaper the energy the better.
How important is keeping the land, air, and water clean and un-polluted, or is pollution OK as long as it makes energy cheap?
You want to eat this?
We attended Ezra’s Ethical Oil book signing in Saskatoon today and experienced the Marxist left’s intolerance and attempt to shut him up.
Almost immediately after he started to speak about the book about 3-4 hippy looking activists tried to drown him out. They kept it up almost constantly until he was done. He allowed some questions. There were questions from both supporters and detractors. The detractors who asked questions were not the ones that heckled him. He handled it all quite well, but did make some comments regarding the heckler’s character.
At the same time some moron, who I discovered later had been asked to leave when he shoved the manager and a staff, went outside, set up a loudspeaker, stood by the windows and tried to drown out Ezra.
As we left the building, two police cruisers showed up. I suspect that someone phoned the police to thwart any attempt at physical violence.
I got a handshake and my signed copy.
Haha! John Galt, your own link indicates that the deformed fish are equally plentiful both upstream and downstream of the oilsands project, and have been relatively stable in number for years.
In other words, it’s a natural phenomenon, likely disease or parasitism. But, hey! It’s a golden opportunity for the Indians to shake down a wealthy corporation.
Still avoiding the question aren’t you?
How important is keeping the land, air, and water clean and un-polluted, or is pollution OK as long as it makes energy cheap?
How important is keeping the land, air, and water clean and un-polluted,
You’ll starve to death refusing to use energy unless it has zero impact on the environment. Have fun.
Pollution is NOT ok. The idea that energy can be obtained in the usual ways without an offensive wind turbine defacing the landscape seems to escape the eggheads. So does the fact that ‘Global Warming’ is a hoax and they have been exposed promoting that hoax for years and at a cost of billions of dollars. Yet, the only things that seems to make ANY sense to these greenies is that we sacrifice everything dear to us for the sake of ‘saving the earth’. We have the sense and intelligence to do both and it has been demonstrated that these things ARE attainable. They lefty argument is pointing to the gulf regarding the recent ‘disaster’ and endless pictures of birds covered in oil and the oil spewing from the well. Yet, I heard not one word about 11 men who died. THAT was the disaster beyond comprehension. These people do not care who they hurt or how they hurt. People. Communities, Provinces, Countries.
As long as they can whip us all into submission for the ’cause’ of a green earth and the UN can run everything while China and India spew their pollution into the atmosphere, that is all fine. This is not about anything but shifting the wealth from those who earned it to those who did not. Let’s not pretend. Ezra beats their argument flat. And they cannot fight that or stand it. So they infringe on HIS rights by trying to ruin his book signings. They did that to Ann Coulter and when they do it to any of us they do it to all.
These people are not about saving anything but their point of view and it had better be YOUR point of view, too or everybody pays the price in rudeness and disruption of the right to meet someone, have him sign his book and enjoy the evening. When they show up and ruin it THAT is the definition of pollution.
One Obvious Conclusion: Julian Vincent is a LIAR!
The fact is that Greenpeace refuses to criticize the thuggish countries around the world. Poster Boys for Hypocrisy!
The US Senators who toured with Alberta Premier Stalmach were impressed. Especially with the re-claimed land , which Lindsay Graham stated ‘looked like a pretty natural state’.
They tour Saskatchewan tomorrow with Premier Wall. That should seal the deal against what Pelosi is trying to do, especially if the conservatives win in November. IF they take both houses, (from our wishes to God’s ear) it will be whole new ballgame. And even more emphasis on the message these senators will take back to Congress.
John Galt…..STFU…when you are NOT using electricity to post here….and using an outhouse from your cave….then come talk….and better go stoke up that campfire of your’s….if you can even start one.(Sorry for responding to the leftard troll)
All the leftards have is their venom and vindictiveness, because most of their arguments have been proven to be bogus.
Their God is themselves and “green” things: “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator” (Romans 1:25). Read the rest of this passage for some illumination as to what’s happening in these interesting times.
Some more from Romans: “For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
“… Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. … they have become … insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they … are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless …”
I’m don’t think anyone could paint a more accurate picture than the writer of this letter to the Romans about the leftard louts of Greenpeace and their ilk.
Hahaha, that was amazing.
He just annihilated him in debate, and demonstrated how idiotic their arguments are.
My biggest question is …Why on earth did it take like 10 years for someone like Ezra to come along and tell it how it is??
Why are we so lazy??? Why are our Conservative MPS so gutless and weak?
John Galt…
I’ve shot moose in Newfoundland and found tumours in them. And that’s a loooong frickin way from your evil oilsands.
BNN is owned by the anti-business Grope & Fail. It is a joke and watching this clip exposes the far-left fascism of its management and employees.
When it was “Report on Business” it wasn’t on how the markets were doing but how it could expose evil capitalism. Our CRTC is a joke for giving licences to fascists then spit on regular people.
North and northeast of the oil sands, downstream, you’ll find the vast uranium deposits of northern Saskatchewan, with their accompanying radioactive boulders in the ground, glacial drift. You can also find ‘Uranium City’ on the map. There was an incident of a tight little cluster of weird cancers in a residential district in Sudbury that was traced to a natural concentration of radiation in the bedrock. It is more likely those fish tumours were caused by encounters with high natural radiation than by oil sands operations. Just more lies and propaganda. Remember the doctor who completely faked up aboriginal cancer stories in an attempt to smear the oil sands.
Snowbunnie @ 2:02, batb @ 8:17 and abcd @ 9:24, great comments.
Ezra did a great job in Stn.
John Galt has many good posts, but on this issue he/she has been drinking the luddite’s anti-business koolaid.
The elephant in the room that no lefty enviro-wacko will talk about is what would happen to the common folk if everyone “Saves the Planet” by choking off economic energy development.
If we ever let that happen then stay tuned for Suzuki’s Worldwide premiere of “The Great Leap Forward II”.
Ewwww, SMACKDOWN! How to do it to a Gorebot Ezra!
Levant makes a good point about Green Peace’s carbon foot print. It should be calculated and widely publicized because it is the most obvious example of their hypocrisy.
From the September 18th Sun:
“On September 5, 2010, a column by Ezra Levant contained false statements about George Soros and his conduct as a young teenager in Nazi-occupied Hungary.
The management of Sun Media wishes to state that there is no basis for the statements in the column and they should not have been made.
Sun Media, this newspaper and Ezra Levant retract the statements made in the column and unreservedly apologize to Mr. Soros for the distress and harm this column may have caused to him.”
So, now that we know that Ezra Levant is a self-admitted liar, can someone explain to me why we should believe anything he has to say?
I attended Ezra’s book signing in Saskatoon. (Would have liked to meet you, Ken). The protester admitted he hadn’t read the book, just the title, so one of the men bought and presented him with a copy.
Ezra is an exceptional person defending our rights and our country. Very brave!
Credit Mr. Vincent for not using ad hominem attacks, and for actually admitting that Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Venezuela as ” countries we don’t like ”
That being said, Ezra Levant came across as a Ronald Reagan for the present times – very precise in argumentation, passionate, lots of examples, and unrelenting, yet not angry.
The only way to make oilsands more ethical, using the enviros standards, is to build a nuclear plant there to make thermal extraction completely CO2 neutral.
Stuck a dagger in heart of the oppostiion’s argument.
Btw, how could the presenter make that remark about Mexico?
Dave….maybe too late for my comment, but Soros WAS a Nazi collaborater, both he and his father.Levant only backed off because his employer doesn’t have the guts to run a court case. But then thinking about it,they would be in a court of known Jew haters, and the outcome would all ready have been determined.
Or didn’t you know that one of the worst country’s in the world for human rights, now chairs the UN’s human rights commission?
I will give Lenin credit for one thing….useful idiots!
When people mention the dead ducks, why doesn’t Ezra ask them how many birds are chopped up by wind turbines?
“Ezra demolished him.”
Sorry, but have to disagree with that statement.
While Ezra’s presentation has improved over the years (I used to hate listening to even 2 minutes of him) he still lacks respect for other speakers – right or wrong, and because of that, whatever he shares looses value.
Whether Greenpeace is right or wrong, they are the entitled to their opinion, and the speaker isn’t his friend. I seem to remember a debate where he attacked another speaker calling him a ‘friend’ as well.
He’s a gifted man, intelligent, and on the right side, but wish someone would train him on public debate and appearance.
He would win more hearts by respecting others.
In example, not that I have it all, but I would have asked the GP rep about where the power would come to power electric cars? Or, with the windmill on their cover, how many birds need to be sacrificed? Or what happens on a still or very windy day?
I wonder if he is going to get sued again?
Retraction and apology to George Soros
On September 5, 2010, a column by Ezra Levant contained false statements about George Soros and his conduct as a young teenager in Nazi-occupied Hungary.
Upon receiving a letter of complaint from Mr. Soros’s legal counsel on September 13, 2010, Sun Media Corporation always intended to publish a retraction and apology for this column. Despite constant efforts on both sides, Sun Media and Mr. Soros’s counsel were unable to reach agreement on the content of a retraction.
The management of Sun Media wishes to state that there is no basis for the statements in the column and they should not have been made.
Sun Media, this newspaper and Ezra Levant retract the statements made in the column and unreservedly apologize to Mr. Soros for the distress and harm this column may have caused to him.

Ellie in T.O.: “When people mention the dead ducks, why doesn’t Ezra ask them how many birds are chopped up by wind turbines?”
Good question, Ellie.
At the book signing I attended in Toronto, Ezra compared the number of accidental deaths of ducks in the Oil Sands to the number of ducks “sacrificed” for Dim Sum.
Touche, Mr. Levant. I don’t see Greenpeacers picketing restaurants in China Town.
Greenpeace are SUCH wimps. They attack easy targets — targets whose human rights records far surpass other oil-producing countries — and completely bypass the countries that are genuine mega-pollutants.
Aye, yaye, yaye (shaking my hand).
mega-pollutants.
buying the book tomoro
!!
Oh no! False statements about Soros being a nasty in WWII. Well according to Soros himself he was nasty in WWII.
To Prove the point you Neo Commies Soros has you all running around acting silly when he himself is invested in the Oil Sands. Opps.
Bring on Sun TV.
Ezra’s good. He’d be even better if he didn’t interrupt his opponents as much. Let them talk and hang themselves a bit.
Many birds are chopped up by wind turbines. These behemoths also mess with the navigation systems of bats. The windfarm at Altamount Pass in California has been referred to as a Cuisinart for birds (golden eagles and other rare types that like to fly high). I guess it’s not worth mentioning the legions of birds that splat themselves against the windows of skyscrapers in Toronto.
However, I don’t see why the tar sands shouldn’t submit to some environmental oversight and be required to manage the resource responsibly. One can argue that it’s ethically better than oil from Saudi Arabia, and I agree, but that doesn’t excuse everything. Someone has to be watching and insisting that it be managed responsibly. I don’t think you can trust the oil companies to do it voluntarily from a sense of social responsibility.
Yikes, rita, where to start. Environmental and operating permits are a must-have for all industries in Canada. These permits include a monster list of testing, monitoring, reporting, rules and regulations. Go to the Alberta government website and you’ll find that every one of those oil companies has to file a comprehensive annual report about their operation (including environmental). Large companies usually have a few employees and support staff dedicated to environmental compliance. Canada, like the rest of the modern western world, is an excellent model for environmental responsibility. It is not a voluntary system at all.
LC Bennett, I was not very thorough in my post. I wasn’t suggesting that it was environmental free for all in the tarsands. I was responding to some perceived (guessed at) attitudes that imply that since the oilsands could be argued to be ethically better than some other sources, that killing birds and dumping chemicals in the rivers was acceptable because others were so much worse.
It was a muddled contribution to the discussion based on vague perceptions and I do know better than that.
I just picked up Ethical Oil yesterday. Its a great read so far. Someone should deliver it to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Nice job on the gopher. Any suggestions for the roundleafed mallow he’s lying in? Roundup doesn’t seem to touch it. Oh yeah I forgot: The pay of oilsands workers would put it in the fairtrade category if they were supplying starbucks.
