Forensic medicine and ‘family distress’:
“The attorney general is considering re-opening the inquest into the death of government scientist David Kelly, it has emerged.
“The move comes after nine experts, including Michael Powers, a QC and former coroner, and Julian Blon, a professor of intensive care medicine, called for a full inquest into Kelly’s death saying the official finding – haemorrhage from the severed artery – was ‘extremely unlikely’.
“‘Insufficient blood would have been lost to threaten life,’ they wrote in a letter published in the Times.”
“In January, five doctors who made an application to the Oxford coroner to have the inquest reopened, were told that Hutton made a ruling in 2003 to keep medical reports and photographs closed for 70 years. Hutton responded by saying the documents could be revealed to doctors and that he had made the gagging order to spare Kelly’s family ‘unnecessary distress’.”
Just heard on the radio that Stephen Harper addressed a crowd of about five hundred at Royal Roads University on Wednesday night, great work by the MSM, I didn’t even know he was anywhere close to the West Coast, I thought he was still on holidays. I guess the MSM were still too busy winding down from the Iggy tour to bother with the PM.

CTV has a couple of minutes on the book-burning. At about the 1 minute mark,a muslim cleric says that if the koran is burnt, Americans will be killed wherever they are seen.
No outrage,no follow-up,no condemnation from anyone from the muslim world,or anyone. If the shit hits the fan,the preacher will be blamed, just like the woman who doesn’t dress modestly deserves to be raped.Business as usual for the ‘religion of peace’.

HAVANA – Fidel Castro told a visiting American journalist that Cuba’s communist economic model doesn’t work, a rare comment on domestic affairs from a man who has conspicuously steered clear of local issues since stepping down four years ago.

“After a year of humiliating setbacks, United Nations Secretary General Ban ki-Moon and about 60 of his top lieutenants — the top brass of the entire U.N. system — spent their Labor Day weekend at a remote Austrian Alpine retreat, discussing ways to put their sprawling organization in charge of the world’s agenda.
Details concerning the two-day, closed-door sessions in the comfortable village of Alpbach were closely guarded. Nonetheless, position papers for the meeting obtained by Fox News indicate that the topics included:
— how to restore “climate change” as a top global priority after the fiasco of last year’s Copenhagen summit;
— how to continue to try to make global redistribution of wealth the real basis of that climate agenda, and widen the discussion further to encompass the idea of “global public goods”;
— how to capitalize on the global tide of migrants from poor nations to rich ones, to encompass a new “international migration governance framework”;”
And much more……
Imam Rauf Makes His Case on CNN

Thoughtless article in Wednesday’s Globe and Mail:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/facts-and-arguments/our-generation-has-dropped-the-torch/article1698939/
In a nutshell, the author seems to flog the NDP party line that the best things the post-war generation did were setting up the welfare state with lots of public services.
She points out that a sewage pipe she encountered that was being replaced in 2010 was built in 1895, and probably thinks this is an example of
“underfunding”, when in reality it’s a typical example of government mismanagement of resources, the real reason for “crumbling infrastructure”.
She writes: “Did we build on these foundations to create the next stage of supports for our children and grandchildren? Did we even maintain what we were given? No, we were too busy investing in our RRSPs to care about the erosion of CPP.”
The CPP started out as a Ponzi scheme and eats up a lot of resources that people might wish to have some direct control over – such as putting them into a personal RRSP.
She continues: “When the government releases a new budget these days, the media encourages us to think, ‘What’s in it for me?’ Instead, I think my parents would have asked, ‘Does this make us a better country?'”
No, your parents got suckered by politicians promising them the sun, the moon and the stars through the welfare state – like the CPP. People vote for welfare state measures precisely because they’re thinking “what’s in it for me” as in “how can I benefit from a government program at someone else’s expense?”. As evidence, I give you the France of today and the Greece of this summer.
She also writes: “many of the effects of the taxes I pay or don’t pay today will not show up until long after I am gone. In other words, I can hammer my government for tax cuts and offload my responsibilities to the next generation, and at least some of the damage I do will not show up for years.”
I thought that “in the long run we are all dead”. Does this mean that Keynes’ fraudulent economic theories are no longer valid?
Castro would be the first to bail on the revolution, except for those two million people who left before him. What’s he going to tell the folks who stayed, brain cramp? just kidding? rookie mistake?

“Merkel honours Danish Muhammad cartoonist Westergaard”
“German Chancellor Angela Merkel has defended Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, whose cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad caused anger in 2006.”
“A depiction of Muhammad’s turban as a fused bomb sparked global outrage when it was published in Denmark.
Presenting him with a press freedom award, Mrs Merkel said Mr Westergaard was entitled to draw his caricatures.
“Europe is a place where a cartoonist is allowed to draw something like this,” she said.
“We are talking here about the freedom of opinion and the freedom of the press,” Ms Merkel said at the ceremony in the German city of Potsdam.
The offending cartoon – which led to a groundswell of Muslim anger in many countries around the world – was one of 12 first published by Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten in 2005.
‘Place of freedom’
Mrs Merkel, who grew up in communist East Germany, added that German people clearly remembered the implications of a lack of freedom and should therefore cherish it.
“It’s about whether in a Western society with its values he [Mr Westergaard] is allowed to publish his Muhammad cartoons, or not. Is he allowed to do it? Yes he is,” Ms Merkel said.”

AlMoh: The perfect model of a modern major Muslim.
“One ought never confuse reasoned repugnance with irrational fear. ”
“Mohamed is the model for Islamic terrorism, both in modern times and for the past fourteen centuries, wherever Islam has escaped the bottle of political restraint. Mohamed was never a prophet of peace; he was a warlord. Nor was he a dedicated monk, priest, or rabbi who eschewed the rewards of political power. Mohamed verily relished his every violent victory and enslaved those whom he defeated. Rape, pillage, and plunder followed in Mohamed’s warring wake.
Mohamed was the model for polygamy and child marriage, practicing both himself. Mohamed was the commander of the stoning and the lopping off of hands and feet, the master of the lashings and canings so prominent in every Muslim-dominated country today. It is utterly impossible for modern Muslims to clean up their religion without first erasing the example of their own prophet.”

“Time for an Islamaphobia Beer Summit
With 70% of Americans standing in hardened opposition to a victory mosque being built on our national graveyard at Ground Zero, it would take a complete elitist ninny to sum this up as “Islamaphobia.” But since our elitists are indeed calling the 70% of us irrational, phobic nutcases, it would seem an awfully good time to have an Islamaphobia beer summit.
Forget the beer; we need sober heads. Forget the president; he’s out to lunch.
We’ll just have a dry summit among ourselves.
For starters, what is a “phobia”? I’m darned well sure that at least 98% of the overwhelming 70% already know that a phobia is an irrational fear or loathing of some quantifiable thing or idea. The key word here, of course, is irrational.
One ought never confuse reasoned repugnance with irrational fear. ”

“Mister Mr says:

Excellent post. As someone who has spent time as a relief worker in some of the worst refugee camps on earth, I can relate from first hand experience that, short of temporary natural disasters, the problem is not that there isn’t enough food. There are warehouses with enough food. The problem is getting the food to the people who need it or moving the people to the food (think Darfur). As Keith wrote above, the problem is “governance”. More specifically, what stands in the way most often is men with guns who call themselves “the government” in these regions. It would be more correct to call them criminals, bandits or profiteers. Without the rule of law, they can trample anyone who is weaker and steal their resources or merely shove them onto marginal land where no one can survive.
Forcing starving refugees across a border in search of food can be a tactical weapon to use against adjacent countries. Stealing donated relief supplies and selling them on the black market is just another way to fund their gang. We’re talking powdered milk for infants here. The more experienced gangs don’t even bother stealing the supplies, they just set up checkpoints and charge relief trucks a 60% “roadside tax” enforced with AK-47s.
Whenever I hear news commentators talking about perma-refugees stuck somewhere with “not enough food” it never fails to evoke a bitter, sad laugh. It’s heartbreaking enough for us westerners to think that children over there are starving because there isn’t enough food. When you know that there is adequate food, often within 500 miles, that means these children are starving simply because evil men with power are doing what they always do. It is simply unconscionable. Those that continue to push the Malthusian scarcity meme are accomplices in crimes against humanity because their wrong ideas serve as a smoke screen masking the real problem and delaying real solutions.”
