    “The attorney general is considering re-opening the inquest into the death of government scientist David Kelly, it has emerged.

Just heard on the radio that Stephen Harper addressed a crowd of about five hundred at Royal Roads University on Wednesday night, great work by the MSM, I didn’t even know he was anywhere close to the West Coast, I thought he was still on holidays. I guess the MSM were still too busy winding down from the Iggy tour to bother with the PM.

  6. CTV has a couple of minutes on the book-burning. At about the 1 minute mark,a muslim cleric says that if the koran is burnt, Americans will be killed wherever they are seen.

    No outrage,no follow-up,no condemnation from anyone from the muslim world,or anyone.If the shit hits the fan,the preacher will be blamed,just like the woman who doesn’t dress modestly deserves to be raped.Business as usual for the ‘religion of peace’.

    In a nutshell, the author seems to flog the NDP party line that the best things the post-war generation did were setting up the welfare state with lots of public services.
    She points out that a sewage pipe she encountered that was being replaced in 2010 was built in 1895, and probably thinks this is an example of
    “underfunding”, when in reality it’s a typical example of government mismanagement of resources, the real reason for “crumbling infrastructure”.
    She writes: “Did we build on these foundations to create the next stage of supports for our children and grandchildren? Did we even maintain what we were given? No, we were too busy investing in our RRSPs to care about the erosion of CPP.”
    The CPP started out as a Ponzi scheme and eats up a lot of resources that people might wish to have some direct control over – such as putting them into a personal RRSP.
    She continues: “When the government releases a new budget these days, the media encourages us to think, ‘What’s in it for me?’ Instead, I think my parents would have asked, ‘Does this make us a better country?'”
    No, your parents got suckered by politicians promising them the sun, the moon and the stars through the welfare state – like the CPP. People vote for welfare state measures precisely because they’re thinking “what’s in it for me” as in “how can I benefit from a government program at someone else’s expense?”. As evidence, I give you the France of today and the Greece of this summer.
    She also writes: “many of the effects of the taxes I pay or don’t pay today will not show up until long after I am gone. In other words, I can hammer my government for tax cuts and offload my responsibilities to the next generation, and at least some of the damage I do will not show up for years.”
    I thought that “in the long run we are all dead”. Does this mean that Keynes’ fraudulent economic theories are no longer valid?

As someone who has spent time as a relief worker in some of the worst refugee camps on earth, I can relate from first hand experience that, short of temporary natural disasters, the problem is not that there isn’t enough food. There are warehouses with enough food. The problem is getting the food to the people who need it or moving the people to the food (think Darfur). As Keith wrote above, the problem is “governance”. More specifically, what stands in the way most often is men with guns who call themselves “the government” in these regions. It would be more correct to call them criminals, bandits or profiteers.     Forcing starving refugees across a border in search of food can be a tactical weapon to use against adjacent countries. The more experienced gangs don’t even bother stealing the supplies, they just set up checkpoints and charge relief trucks a 60% “roadside tax” enforced with AK-47s.

It’s heartbreaking enough for us westerners to think that children over there are starving because there isn’t enough food. When you know that there is adequate food, often within 500 miles, that means these children are starving simply because evil men with power are doing what they always do. It is simply unconscionable. Those that continue to push the Malthusian scarcity meme are accomplices in crimes against humanity because their wrong ideas serve as a smoke screen masking the real problem and delaying real solutions.”
