Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

But if the government stopped spending, who would pay for millions of artificial ‘green’ jobs? They would run the risk of — gasp — *not* existing in the private sector!
What’s even funnier is the insider jab that Rick takes by telling Steve to go back and read more Russian. Steve was fired from the Wall Street Journal for writing, as the head of the Russian desk, that Russia was in such fine shape that there was no risk of Russia defaulting on its debt.
The day before Russia actually defaulted.
Steve had been used by his Kremlin contacts and had written what they had given him to write. That was the real slap in the exchange, and Steve knew it.
Because he’s doing the same thing again with Geithner’s office.
Fun clip, Kate.
I think Americans, as well as ourselves, should start preparing for inflation as never before.
Rick Santelli is an originator of the Tea Party movement. Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin are their spokepersons.
Long live Santelli, Beck and Palin!
Even Paul Krugman has admitted America is in depression. The frustrating thing about this clip is that Rick couldn’t be clearer and correct yet Steve couldn’t be more obstinate and wrong.
Deflation is the edge of the cliff which we are peering over right now.
Read Vox Day’s book, “Return of the Great Depression” for a really good read on the subject.
My girlfriend actually told me at one point to stop making money cause we gotta pay taxes on it.
Stop spending yes, but first stop printing money 24/7 to use as ‘reserve’ for too much currency already in circulation.
The decision by most countries, strongly promoted by our Prime Minister, to take austerity measures and reign in runaway spending and massive deficits should be a big sigh of relief for those of us worried about freedom and democracy.
What the Steve guy is doing is promoting Obama’s US economic “Keep printing money” so nobody “suffers” NOW. What Steve does’nt say is that this would only justify marshall law down the road after an inevitable collapse by ultra inflation. Then a dictatorship would emerge to “keep the peace”.
The G20 plan was a big setback for Obama and the Totalitarian regimes of the world: China, Russia and Saudi Arabia are surely major allies behind Obama. I’m not saying they are helping to call the shouts but they support his views which are similar to theirs.
Obama does not believe in Democracy. He’s too lazy for that. It’s much easier to rule a Totaliterian state. As a bonus everyone must adulate the leader or risk death.
That was great, did our guy on the left side of the panel say the other fellow had been reading “Selma Hayek”?
Fox’s Bill O’reilley has a excellent take on Toronto’s G20 submit and the violent “criminal” (His word) element…He also touches on Obama being isolated by the rest of the free world who want to stop spending:

I second glacierman’s recommendation of Vox Day’s RGD. The tough times are still ahead, folks. We ain’t seen nothing yet.
The police must be emptying the detention centre.
Speaking of O’Reilly, did anyone see that knob from the Globe&M yesterday on the show? He as much as called Harper the “real criminal” and so on. O’Reilly “nailed him”(no homo), but my wife couldn’t help but react to the fact that Bill always manages to find the most retarded person to represent the Canadian POV. Where’s the balance Bill?
Indiana
Yes, I too saw the moron Rick Salutin from the G & M on O’Reilly. He was a total embarassment to Canada and I’m glad that O’Reilly tuned him in.
He said he woke up Monday “feeling like he was living in a police state” Oh please!!
O’Reilly called that a gross overstatement and had to remind the goof Salutin that Canada is a free and open society.
I sent an e-mail to O’Reilly after the Salutin bit. I told him he seems to pick the most embarrassing figures from Canada when covering events north of the 49th (recall the no-name writer from some no-name Toronto rag after the Anne Coulter incident in Ottawa).
In any event, I asked that next time he try to get Rex Murphy on his program. I think I’d overload from no-spin nirvana with Bill interviewing Rex.
(Kate, apologies for the off topic post).
This is the lead conversation for the beginning of Hannity today, STOP SPENDING.
It’s kind of like quitting smoking, people buy prescription drugs, get hypnotized, take classes, get counseling, cry over this with their Dr. All of these things to avoid doing what is simply necessary, the first thing you need to do to stop smoking? Stop lighting that cig and sticking in your mouth. Strangely this would work for other drug addicts as well.
To stop spending like drunken sailors? Stop going ashore. Stop spending. And next month, don’t spend twice as much to make up for it…
As PM Harper emerges from the G8-20 as a leader in global economy and the issues it sets him miles apart from Obama.
Wish I could have been a fly on the wall to watch Obama squirm on Sunday.
Unfortunately the discussion on their differing philosophies, as defined in the goal for deficit reduction, has been typically ignored by the media. I sense that PM Harper has made a greater impression internationally, and that must grate on the ego-centric Obama.
I would suspect as well bluetech, that O’bama didn’t have a teleprompter to read from to the others, and being an affirmative action hire, he’d have some trouble keeping up with Harper, Merkel et all… someday those folks will write their memoirs, and their true opinions of O’bama’s so called intelligence will be known by all.
As much as I’d like to see the US stop spending, the reality is that 60% of the budget is mandated spending, such as Social Security, Medicare, and debt interest. Discretionary spending makes up only 12% of the budget, with defence eating up 23%.
I don’t sense a chorus calling for cuts in defence spending, and if the discretionary spending was cut to zero, it still wouldn’t bring the US budget into balance. The only way – the only way, people – that the US can ever get its financial house in order, is to tackle Medicare and SS. Since that is death to any politician (if you think ACORN is organized, wait until you see the AARP in action), this won’t happen.
As many posts at zerohedge end, “gold b*tches!”.
