“Would you watch a Fox News-like channel in Canada?”

A poll that may not go horribly wrong, but we can give them a run for their money.
Update: It has taken just 90 minutes to shift the poll results from 15% “yes” to a near dead heat. SDA gets results!

  1. Polling CBC readers if they would watch a FOX news like network? Isn’t that a bit like walking into a mosque and taking a poll as to how many would be willing to worship Jesus part-time if a cathedral were to open up next door?

  2. Long live CBC! Fox News, now there is an oxymoron, just like ‘smart conservative’. Makes me laugh everytime.

  3. Ok, CBC has about 700 committed viewers/listeners/readers.
I suspect SDA gets more hits than that before breakfast.

  4. I doubt that this poll will make even 33% in favour.I went through the first ten pages of most agered comments before I found one that was in favour of this channel. The CBC crowd is way too open-minded and diverse to even consider an alternate news source.(:-)

  5. You’d think the ‘smart lefties’, would be better off using their time working to merge the two-thirds of Canadian voters into their coalition idea.

  6. OTH –
“Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal now owns a 7 percent stake in Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., the parent company of Fox News, making him the company’s largest shareholder outside of Murdoch’s own family.”
“Now that Alwaleed has a controlling ownership in News Corp., he is gaining influence over Fox News. In 2005, just months after Alwaleed acquired his first 5.4 percent stake in News Corp., Fox News covered riots in Paris under a banner saying “Muslim riots.” Alwaleed allegedly called Murdoch and had him change the banner to say “Civil riots.”

Be careful what you wish for.

  7. Fake T,don’t give up the good fight. It seems that when you beat the real T to post,he does not. For that I thank you. Perhaps you should consider moving your computer to the basement, along with ample tissues,to even the odds a bit.

  8. LOL!
What would I expect on a CBC poll? ‘That their minuscule viewership would welcome a network like FOX?
I suspect that the 23% voting in favour don’t even watch the CBC. I watch them only occasionally to see what the heck they’re up to: usually no good.

  9. “I suspect that the 23% voting in favour don’t even watch the CBC.”
    That 23% was 15% when I voted.
Insert comment about host blog getting results here.

  10. Let’s rephrase the question:
Would you watch a regressive dependent news station like PRAVDA?
Oh wait that’s the CBC with a whopping 2-3% market share…
    Cheers

  11. Ha that’s funny! CBC afraid of competion? Good lawd y’all theit numbers are in the sink now and they still suck more tax blood to operate.
NO one watches CBC except the hard core 5th column and the lobotomized left. Maybe a couple hundred tops.

  12. “Would you watch a Fox News-like channel in Canada?”
Especially if they regularly featured people like Kate McMillan, Kath Shaidle, and Ezra Levant.
Anyone else have some conservative personalities they’d like to see on the Conservative News Channel?(CNC)
    Dr. Tim Ball maybe?

  13. CBC’s audience share is in the single digits in most places.  For those Canadians with cable, FOX News is already out-doing CBC.
    Why not make it official?

  14. The geniuses on the left should promote and endorse the acceptability of a “Fox type” news outlet in Canada because it would be so stupid and people would hate it so much that it would soon go out of business and in doing so lose billions of dollars for the idiots who think a non-lefty news organization would flourish in Canada. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

  15. Fox News has far more left-wing viewers than you would expect. They likely watch for the same reason I sometimes watch Bill Maher – just to see how dumb people can get.

  16. The vast majority of the CBC comments (who else would waste their time registering?) represent the typical leftist who, in pretending to speak for themselves, in typical censorious mode, don’t want others to watch what they choose. Pure fascism!

  17. This is going well so far. When I posted the link, there were fewer than 100 in favour votes – under 15%.

  18. The poll and story seems pretty pathetic to me, really. Smell the fear.

  19. Don’t any of you listen to the erudite Sheila Coles and Ted Deller on CBC Sask. Radio Morning Edition? Now I’m being facetious. Oh, Mikey you’re still with us, didn’t blow a gasket after all. A Leftist dieing alone? No, no, no, Mikey, that’s why we work so hard: “all for one and one for all” you know, so we all share.

  20. I doubt that this poll will make even 33% in favour.I went through the first ten pages of most agreed comments before I found one that was in favour of this channel. The CBC crowd is way too open-minded and diverse to even consider an alternate news source.(:-)
Posted by: wallyj at June 10, 2010 4:54 PM . I stand corrected. I grossly underestimated the power of Kate et al. The poll is now at 43% in favour. Wow,not only does this show the influence SDA has,it also highlights the miniscule audience of the perennial billion dollar boondoggle that we know as CBC . FIRE.THEM.ALL.

  21. When this channel starts broadcasting it will capture a huge portion of the market.
Fox has been repeatedly proven to be the most balanced broadcaster in the US. Hard to imagine, finally, an honest balanced news broadcaster in Canada.
Think of all the news that is distorted and unreported by the current crop of babbling half-wits filling in time between commercials for junk food and crappy cars. They are about to be blown out of the water. Can I buy shares in this venture?

  22. Something strange has happened. The link on the original post now goes to a different CBC site. When I originally posted regarding the 10 pages of comments by the CBC readers there was about 200 comments. Now,it links to a page with maybe 40 comments. CBC appears to have changed the page to reflect their continuing unbised outlook. I may be wrong,if anyone can clear this up for me ,it would be appreciated.

  23. 604 for our side since I voted. Come on folks get your buddies on this. where close.

  24. Globe and Mail had a similar poll up this morning. It’s also their facebook question. So far I’m the only one in favour in the fb comments.
I see Brian Lilley and David Akin have been recruited by Kory Teneycke.

  25. OK.I think I have got it figured out. The original link a couple of hours ago is this, http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2010/06/10/quebecor-news-network.html#socialcomments. — This link no longer has the poll, but does have close to 200 comments. That is just weird. — Now if you link ,you get this page. This page has the poll. http://www.cbc.ca/news/pointofview/2010/06/fox-news-would-you-watch-a-similar-channel-in-canada.html , Excuse me,but something is wrong, this page has 38 comments. I shout ‘SHENANIGANS’.

  26. Hah!! I went and voted and looked at the “score”. The conservative side was slightly behind the lefties. Not more than a minute later I checked again and the conservative side had pulled ahead. Small Dead Animals gets results!!

  27. To whom do I send my resume?? Canada desperately NEEDS a “tell it the way it is” news network.

  28. One blithering idiot named Anne something had this to say:
Fox news is made up of equal parts fantasy and denial. Have had it on my satellite system for five years. I don’t watch it now. Never have and never will.
How, pray tell, does she know, if she’s never watched it? Lefties and their Little Red Book of speaking points.

  29. Of course SDA gets results. When you get more hits in half a day then the Ceeb gets in a week, what else can you expect? Heh

  30. The truth always attracts a crowd. It’s the lies where you have to fence then in.

  31. How does she know that FOX is ‘equal fantasy and equal denial’ if she admits that she has never watched it?
I’ve watched CBC and CTV and can empirically claim that those stations are ‘equal fantasy’ and ‘equal denial’. Now, I no longer watch either.

  32. Hans Rupprecht 5:10 PM, where do you get that info about CBC market share? I’ve been searching for that kind of info for a long time.

  33. I can’t understand the horror they feel at an opposing view. If some well funded leftoid started a tv station – although hardly necessary in today’s broadcasting environment – it wouldn’t bother me at all. Who knows, there might be things of interest, and at the very least it would add to the debate. Well, until it went bankrupt, I mean.

  34. If CBC had guts, they’d now follow up with the question:
“Would you watch a news channel modelled after Fox News instead of CBC News

  35. Sounds like CBC anne is just trying to be cool so maybe that hunky hippy who works at the farmers market, the one with the big dreads and the yellow teeth, will notice her.

  36. Fake T Your illusions have been dashed by the real world. With experience comes wisdom. You simply cannot regress that much.
I saw the poll earlier when it was 79/21. The funny thing is the CBC has been noticed to play with the numbers to send a message. Kinda what the G&M did with their troll polls. When you gotta lie folks maybe you are wrong.

  37. I can’t help but wonder about how advanced the CBC poll set up is…it appears they rely on cookies to prevent Chicago style voting.
    Just sayin’.

  38. For anyone getting the vapors over a FOX-like channel, take heart – at least you won’t be forced to pay for it.
