  1. I read this bile in the Calgary Herald this morning. As soon as you see phrases like “There is nothing heroic about the Afghan war, an illegal imperialist war of invasion and occupation.”, you know the radical leftists are at “work”.
This ignoramus is obviously far too dense to worry about little things like….oh, say….facts.
The moron is too blinded to understand that the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF)was established by the UN Security Council at the end of December 2001 to secure Kabul and the surrounding areas. NATO assumed control of ISAF in 2003.
But like the fiasco at the University of Ottawa and the Ann Coulter affair at least it is getting easier to weed out prospective employees searching for jobs. Now I simply discard any resumes from students with degrees from the U of Zero and now also the University of Regina. With profs like these lunatics, the quality of grads can’t be all that good.

  2. 16 gutless paid leftists that cant stand behind their convictions without being paid from the taxpayers.

  3. Well. I really do expect better writing\communication skills from a university professor. That piece looks like someone collected the signs from an Anti-Bush rally and copied them all onto one sheet of paper.

  4. Not a one of ’em–not one–from one of the real degrees. You know, the ones that employ people in a productive capacity. They’re ALL from the blood (and money)-sucking liberal arts community. No surprise there, I suppose.

  5. Yes, the facebook page reveals his true self.
A goosestepper from the getgo. Hardcore diehard unionista comrade. The NDP is too conservative for this radical.

  6. OMG! If this isn’t the most shop worn Marxist critical theory jibbering – I he reading right from the manifesto?. This fossilized simplistic commie rot is the sort of crap I expect to hear from North Korean zombies.
Sack the lot and ship them to Havana U.

  7. I dropped in on Conway’s Facebook page link. Oh my God, this twit is running for Regina City Council! Just maybe this Project Hero letter was merely a PR stunt for his election campaign – an attempt to raise his public profile. And the sad thing is that in Regina his pitiful “make the rich pay”, “Capitalism is Evil” and “let’s pay more for useless ‘green’ civic buildings” platform may actually garner some votes. Let’s hope that the vast majority of Regina citizens heckle him at every opportunity [a la Ann Coulter speeches] and then ignore him when it comes time to vote.

  8. Every man thinks meanly of himself for having never been a soldier, or gone to sea. Dr.Johnson. Sadly the good Doctor has been proven wrong by the craven among us.

  9. And they said “Special Ed” was a waste of time. It’s a good thing we have universities with useless departments. They fools wouldn’t last a week in the real world.

  10. We really do need to follow the German model
    and set up technical universities.
The letter in the Calgary Herald is just a spew
    of propaganda.
I bet the Canadian Forces would love to know that
they have an important input into Canadian policy.
Anyway Gen. Hillier can stand proud
for having the moonbats as his enemies.

  11. While visiting Calgary, the week when these 16 people that never left school wrote their communist manifesto, Dave Rutherford had one of Conway’s students on his radio program.
Conway, being a gutless sort, sent this student. The student freely admitted that he was communist and they have some sort of a clique that includes a few of these teachers.
Anyway, Rutherford asked some pointed questions, like was it ok for one country to invade another to establish communist regime, the student had no problem with that at all. So the student came to the conclusion that war is ok as long as your preferred people are in charge.
Hmm, where would the student get such a militaristic idea? Perhaps from a teacher of sociology and social studies?
Wander if one of these totalitarian minds instructed my son. Sometime it sure seems that way, however only sometime.
Same week Coulter spoke in Calgary, unfortunately could not get a ticket.

  12. What a maroon. Yes, of course, wars are the result of imperialistic ambitions of Europeans. (that’s what Lenin argued). Let’s just forget about the nearly six thousand years of warfare, worldwide, prior to capitalist factories.
No, let’s just overlook that little tidbit. War is the human condition, not confined to this or that ideology.
The childness of the argument is striking, but Lenin got away with it so I guess it’s all good for the pile it higher & deeper clubbie.

  13. What a waste of collumn inches given to this intellectual poseur and his regurgitated sixties drivel.
Does the editorial page editor think providing this platform for these 16 parasites is somehow balance?
Balance would be realising the 80% plus taxpayer funded sausage factories masquerading as institutions of higher learning are stuffed to the gills with this sort of rot.
It is the responsibility of the non-government owned subscriber paid media to incessantly push back against this agitprop from the parasitic fifth collumn.
    Gut their public funding!
    Ceterum censeo Universitae esse delendam.
    (spelling may be rusty, sorry)

  14. Apparently it runs in tha family. Look at the company his wife, Dr. Sally Mahood runs with:
    http://seriouslyfreespeech.wordpress.com/honourary-members/
She’s also a member of the Abortion Federation. So much for ‘do no harm’.
In the same vein, check out the CV of Jeffery Webber, the author of the original letter.
    http://www.arts.uregina.ca/node/1202
Good chance that he has posters of Che’, Fidel and Noriega on his walls. Definetely a latin marxist at heart and a committed communist in mind.

  15. This nonsense will only get worse until we replace all liberal arts colleges with library cards. Les Bewley had the answer.

  16. All these profs survive on grants. If we could follow what funding agencies they are preying on and in turn place pressure on those agencies as well by pointing out their affiliation with such vile thugs and shining the cleansing light of day upon them, we can desicate these termites.

  17. Just read Thomas Sowell and his views on Sociologists. I think he sums up the likes of Mr Conway fairly nicely in Intellectuals and society.

  18. OMG he just poured gas on the fire with that idiotic letter. Does he honestly think he’s going to gain any fans with that crap?

  19. In socialist land. Every new day is year one.
No matter the nations laid waste, or the millions killed by this doctrine of death.
Its intellectual sclerosis at its worse.
    JMO

  20. STG, very good book. I thought more people would be referring to him and his clear and reasonable outlook on a variety of subjects. Just starting to go through it again, a must read for any true conservative.

  21. John Chittick; you and I may well be the only ones here that remember the good Judge!
The Late Les Bewley created a pc sh*tstorm when he lectured a particularly annoying bimbo with the quip that “women don’t get any brains till they’re thirty”. I believe the Chief justice had him on the carpet for that one.
Bewley’s 1984 essay The Breakdown of the Criminal Justice System in Canada; a plain-spoken polemic, mainly on the disastrous consequences of parole.
    Here’s an excerpt:
“Fewer than three per cent of federal prisoners now serve the full sentences imposed by the courts. As a direct result of this clearly unconstitutional butchery, no trial judge in Canada has any expectation that his sentence will be honoured; the worth of judicial coinage is shamefully debased; the hard and dedicated work of police officers is mocked; and every crook or would-be crook in Canada is vastly encouraged to commit even more crimes, and is not deterred, because he knows full well that the court’s sentence – to put it politely – ain’t worth spit.”

  22. We have laws against pedophilia, but allow these “Actvist Vermin” to corrupt young minds in the class rooms….
They have a right to their opinion, but the U of S has a right & obligation to send them all packing

  23. Well at the very least, SDA has given the lefty intellectuals their fifteen minutes a bump to last forever on the internet.
A red flag to unwary youngsters entering University in Saskatchewan!
Stay clear of this lot of lefties.

  24. do NOT, under any circumstances, send your offspring to the University of Regina – this is really scary stuff

  25. I posted this on the calgary herald article as well.
The soldiers will fight the war in Afghanistan…
The soldiers will fight the war in Iraq…
The soldiers will fight the war in Korea…
The soldiers will fight the war in Germany…
The soldiers will fight the war in …whatever country they are sent to.
They are soldiers, and they will give their lives fighting in whatever country, that we, as a country called Canada, ask them to.
The soldier must trust that the government knows what it is doing when it asks them to fight. The soldier does not have the option of playing politics.
If the government is wrong, then it is our job (as the electorate) to hold the government accountable and vote them out. If we do not, then obviously a great deal of the electorate supports the government’s decision.
It is our job to protect the soldier from a bad government.
This article and the associated letter speak volumes about the minds and attitudes of those who would attack the soldiers and their families in order to score political points.
It shows their cowardice, ignorance, and hypocrisy. It shows that they do not, in fact, have a clue about what Canada is or who Canadians are.
It shows that these “profs” should have absolutely nothing to do with teaching/corrupting the youth of Canada as they, in fact, represent that which our soldiers are giving their lives to combat.
These 16 profs are legally Canadian, but they are not morally Canadian. They gave up any claim to moral standing when they so eagerly jumped into the enemy trench to stand with the enemy.
I congratulate them on exercising their freedom of speech, a freedom which the soldier won from them. While they may not thank the soldier, I assure you that the rest of Canada will.

  26. Daninvan and John Chittick – There are more of us still around than you think. I recall him wondering, at the height of the gay-rights noise, what “all this fascination of hairy buttocks was all about.”

  27. If our soldiers were dying for our freedom, I would be uplifted. But since they are dying to line the pockets, and facilitate the maniacal designs, of the international bankers/masons/zionists that control the entire western world, all I feel is sad. Our children should be home with us, not half a world away trying to rescue people who don’t deserve to kiss our feet, let alone kill our sons. Who are we going to invade next. Vietnam? Oh, wait, done that already. And it turned out just peachy, remember?

  28. Hey POLI, put your foil cap back on. The “rays” are very strong today and we wouldn’t want you to suffer a brain injury…
    Oh wait.

  29. STG and Western Canadian I found this book to be a jewel and Sowell’s description of turds like Conway bang on.
As Thomas Sowell wrote in “Intellectuals and Society” people like Conway are the leftist elitists, cloud dwellers that glorify their socialist heroes, Stalin, Hitler, Lenin or Pol Pot. They are the anointed ones who trading in ideas not practicality can commit great harm with zero personal responsibility as they reside in their academic ivory tower.
Their focus is, as we recently saw with the AGW scam, control of the peasant class, us. They hate our society and will always attack its pillars, our military or our families or belittle and attack us as guilty racist whites. Their students will shut down free speech with threats like they did with Ann Coulter while being supported all the way to the President of U of O, Allan Rock.
They hate the US even though they have protected our freedoms and gave that freedom to millions around the world.
Conway’s allies are to be found in our media, leftist politicians and academics and we need a thousand Kates to lead the fight to shine the light on these cockroaches.

  30. Fulford included this quote in a column in the NP recently. It seems apt. “Nothing you will learn in the course of your studies will be of the slightest possible use to you in after life, save only this: That if you work hard and diligently you should be able to detect when a man is talking rot. And that, in my view, is the main, if not the sole purpose of education.” Oxford classics tutor, c 1960

  31. Well, the NDP has run Saskatchewan for 47 of the past 66 years. Under state-sanctioned socialism, socialists will breed and prosper.

  32. What I object to in this situation, apart from the views that Mr. Conway expresses, was the attack on the students of the military who were getting a break on the costs of their education because they had lost a parent in the service of the country. Nothing would have prevented Mr. Conway and the other Regina 16’s from expressing his opinion on the military, however, he must have assessed that the letter would get a lot more “play” if it involved the students. (There is no “bad” publicity?) The words “opportunism” and “self-aggrandizement” come to mind. I suggest that a group should write a letter to the President of the university demanding that all faculty scholarships awarded to the offspring of the Regina 16 be withdrawn because their parents hold such repellent views. That would be an equivalent attack.

  33. I would trade the lives of every single Afghan for the life of one canadian soldier. In a heartbeat. A million of those souless, inhuman bags of protoplasm barely exceeds the worth of a earth worm. And our children are dying for these creatures. You should all give your head a shake. Either that, or enlist yourself and go over there if you think the cause is so righteous. I wonder if any of the same comapanies that manufacture the equiptment and weapons used by Canadians also manufacture the stuff used by the enemy to kill the Candians. Of course asking such questions gets a reponse from the right that is somewhat similar to the response givenm by the left when someone defends Israel. Odd how that works.

  34. POLI: “But since they are dying to line the pockets, and facilitate the maniacal designs, of the international bankers/masons/zionists that control the entire western world, all I feel is sad.”
The presence of “masons” and “zionists” in your text were classic telltale signs.
    Seek medical help!

  35. Rete
Don’t blame Saskabush….it has had its political deviances but this situation is continental if not global.
All institutions of higher learning were infected in the 60’s and 70’s and now they also command the secondary/elementary schools as well.

  36. Hey JJM, Who owns the US federal reserve? You know, the bank that conjures moola out of thin air and then “lends” it to the American Government? Give ya three guesses.
If there is one thing I know it’s that all governments are liars. Maybe the USA is a bit less reprehensible than other liars, but it’s a liar just the same.
Whatever the US government tells ya, just think the opposite and you’ll probably be closer to the truth.
In reality, the US government is a puppet on the strings of the bankers that run the federal reserve and most other banks in the world. Why elsewould it continue to crush individuality, allow illegal mexicans to overrun the nation and envirfascist to cripple industry. The current wars are nothing more than theatre to distract the American people from the fact that they are losing their nation, their freedom and their very way of life and movingbriskly toward a future where white people are a foot note in history books written by the ACLU.

  37. Fortunately Canadians have the right to free speech, so the good professor is entitled to his opinion, even if I choose to disagree.
I don’t think anybody is attempting to glorify war; war is hell. But soldiers do risk their lives in the pursuit of their goals. And while war may not have brought democracy to Canada, any Dutch citizen, like my father-in-law, will tell you how the Canadian military liberated Holland during the Second World War.
And were it not for the Canadian military in the war of 1812, the professor would likely now be an American.

  38. No doubt it would be just fine with this bunch if Canadian troops were sent to help Cuba and Venezuela export communism.

  39. I was in Dr.Conways sociolgy 100 many years ago. It’s hilarious to see he’s still spewing that childish, socialist, shameful, tripe he did back then. “Canadian imperialism”!!! I have never heard of such a ridiculous statement.
In know several people from Afghanistan. They have all stated that they are happy to have Canadian and American troops present in their country. I wonder if Dr. Conway knows any of these people? I am curious to know if he gets out into the real world at all.

  40. Putting aside that none of these represent any truly academic programs, the twisted logic of punishing the children of those who died for Canada, is not only immoral but evil. I do not have a problem with people opposed to our troops being there, but to punish the children of those who lost their lives is disgusting. Furthermore, blaming the troops that are there at the government’s (Liberal mind you) request, shows an inability of connecting the dots. It is a disgrace equal to that shown by Americans who thought that blaming and treating their Vietnam veterans as scum was just fine, for again they were sent there by their government.
