Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your delectation and pursuant to our ongoing exploration of their works (previously: Vicious Games, Desire, The Rhythm Divine, Of Course I’m Lying, & Lost Again), here are Dieter Meier and Boris Blank, as the Swiss band Yello, with guest Billy Mackenzie, performing Capri Calling ¤ from their Baby album, in 1991 (audio, 2:52).
It’s the time,
Of April snows.
And how it shows,
In Hannah’s eyes.Calling she’s calling,
Calling each midnight.
Take me to new heights,
Falling I’m falling.A secret power,
Sweet with surprises.
Leaves no disguises,
When you feel pure. It’s the time,
Of April snows.
And how it shows,
In Hannah’s eyes.Time and she’s calling,
A pool of thought.
I sometimes call,
In Hannah’s eyes.I hear her calling,
Calling she’s calling.
I hear her calling,
In Hannah’s eyes.
Your Reader Tips are, as always, welcome in the comments.

I hope this isn’t too far off-topic for a reader tip, but since some here operate websites I figured it might be useful.
This website (a ‘free open-source online service’ according to the page) will capture your site design and display the visual results back to you as it appears in different browsers. It *does* take some time to complete and is not perfect, but it gives an indication if you’ve seriously screwed up some cross-browser HTML or CSS positioning. [cough*not that /I’ve/ ever done anything like that*cough]
http://browsershots.org/
I have no affiliation with the site but I recall a similar one from years ago that used to charge a monthly fee for this. For those that use WordPress, TypePad, etc, services (i.e., don’t run their own server(s) and rather use provided templates) you probably don’t need this.
It’s still a cool thing though.

What Would Jesus Do about Healthcare Reform?
Now that the Democrats in Congress have passed a healthcare overhaul by a vote of 219 to 212, the big question is what will happen next. A majority of the American people are not happy with this bill being rammed down their throats. The Republicans are vowing to fight it in the courts.

RE:… Yello, Thumbs up.
A David Niven type but with a sharp sense of rhythm and rich bass.
The videos in GoldRush and Desire are very artistic along with some humour in GoldRush.
It’s the rhytm though, man… the rhythm.
New to me…but I’m so young and green.

Dems try to provoke a confrontation then lie about it.
the bear, that’s the same Larry Campbell who called the Conservatives “barbarians at the gate,” and perhaps for that, was rewarded with his Senate seat by Paul Martin. He only served as mayor of Vancouver for one term. *Charismatic*? NOT.
He’s a buddy of Buzz Hargrove.
I’ll take Jim Green over Larry Campbell any old day.
I wonder if one of Campbell’s staffers wrote those emails, although the Senator IS very testy.
chutzpahticular, I’m assuming here that leftists rely mostly on imagery and symbolism, so “barbarians at the gate” could be quite powerful.
Of course, many know that the ‘discussion of history can be a dangerous thing’ and the ‘youth are the future’. One of these two things is wrong.
PiperPaul, oooops, I should have written “barbarians at the GATES”…rather than “gate”…
The discussion of history, and experience, help us make wise decisions.
Phone rings.
“Ya, like, hello. I’m calling about the video that you just played. It’s called, uhh, lets see now, ‘Yello-Capri Calling.’ Yeah, that’s it. And like, there’s no picture. Like, Ì thought video meant moving picture. Hellooooo, is anybody there?” (Loud Click)
Vit–you criticized me the other night for not having provided a link to a front page story in National Post. Could you provide me with a link where I can find the motion picture that goes with that video.
Thanks
(Loud click.)

chutzpahticular – I SAID I could JUST ABOUT like him, I didn’t say I did.
chutzpahticular, I don’t see what you’re apologizing for. I thought I was just clarifying something.
Oh, wait…I see what you did there.
Since I agree with you you will not feel my rage.
And nerd rage is the funniest rage.
PiperPaul, so you’re denying me your hilarious nerd rage? Not kosher!
the bear, uh, oooooookay.
Joe Citizen at April 3, 2010 1:58 AM..

Should you choose to re-check the verbiage accompanying tonight’s
show, Joe, you will note the accompanying “(audio, …)” annotation.
You were in error to expect tonight’s show to be in video format.
The Quebec government, without becoming more “efficient” itself (i.e. streamlining), is asking Loto Quebec, the S.A.Q. (liquor board) and Hydro Quebec to each come up with $100 million extra for the government.
This means Loto Quebec will come up with more ways for people to gamble, the S.A.Q. will not decrease its prices despite the high Canadian dollar and Hydro of the three will be stuck cutting back for real in terms of personnel, maintenance and equipment.
Now if only the Quebec government would cancel the expensive monument to its green image the energy-efficient model building (near Hydro’s headquarters) that is about to be built that will house meddling environmental activists for free (the group Equiterre for instance).
As Canadian, I want to know what “footy” is. Is that some cutesy word/term?
I’m sorry, Vit, “verbiage” has become usefulanage of the wordage.
This is importanportont as words become less relevant.
And Sadly, the 1984 wordage is lost
You’re sorry? My condolences.

More on the demonizing of Pope Benedict XVI, this time a defense of him in rebuttal to an article in the New York Times by Laurie Goodstein:

Isn’t it “interesting” how every Holy Week and Easter season, we get the Christian Church, and most often Catholics, in the cross hairs of the secular media? There’s nothing fair or equitable about their coverage. They always go for the Christian jugular. (This does not happen during the Jewish or Muslim Holy Days.)
But, still, we rejoice, for in Jesus’ own words, “Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Notice, Jesus does not call for jihad.
My heart goes out to all children who have been abused by priests; it is one of the, if not THE, worst transgressions of trust and stewardship a priest can commit.
To put things in perspective, however: for the three percent of clergy (in all denominations) who abuse children, there are 97 per cent who don’t, who live sacrificial lives, and who help and mentor young people.
Jack Cashill found some asteroid fodder from McClatchy covering the allegations of racist conduct by Tea Party activists. The Sacramento Bee is a long-term nasty cage-liner, though the name McClatchy can be seen all over town, even on the stained glass windows of my parents’ church. The staff at the cross-town rival (alas, now defunct) were wont to call it “Brand B”, but it was “SoB” to the less polite.

“Real Life Training or Humiliation?
German Unemployed Sent to Fake Supermarket to Hone Skills
Inflatable cheese, plastic money and wine bottles full of tinted water: What sounds like a preschool game is actually a full-scale, fake supermarket used for retraining the long-term unemployed. Hamburg’s simulated shopping trip is costing German taxpayers millions and delivering little success. By Oliver Trenkamp more…”
“The checkout scanner stalls over a bottle of plum schnapps. The woman behind the cash register looks questioningly at her teacher, Mr. Rothe, who instructs her which buttons she should press. The checkout receipt says the schnapps costs €49.99, even though the bottle is empty.
The man who bought the empty bottle is Markus Repschinski, a 28-year-old who has filled his shopping cart from supermarket aisles lined with fake products, inflatable cheese and empty plastic containers as well as some 6,000 real food stuffs.
Repschinski has the words “Real Life Training” written on the back of his vest. And that is the crux of this simulated supermarket and warehouse, the first scheme of its kind in Germany. Here, long-term unemployed people get to experience supermarket work first hand. The idea is that the “workers” take part for almost 40 hours each week for a period of between six and nine months. They are supervised by social workers and five group leaders.”

“Sponsorship tipster was like ‘big brother’ to prime player
Part 2: The Chase – In a stroke of luck, informant ‘C4590’ told police that not only was he aware that cash had changed hands, he picked up the money himself
Paid informants are given nasty nicknames – rat, stoolie, snitch – but police would have a hard time fighting corruption without them, especially someone like the plugged-in chatterbox known in RCMP circles as C4590.
During the late 1990s, he was heavily involved in the federal sponsorship program as a lobbyist helping one of the biggest recipients, Groupaction Marketing Inc., land advertising contracts worth tens of millions of dollars. As well, he was very active in the Liberal Party, raising tens of thousands of dollars and, at election time, doing everything from fetching juice for volunteers to driving around the party’s president.
At first, his relationship with the police was relatively informal – he would offer up tips derived from his impressive contact list and his days in politics and advertising. Records show that for doing this, he was paid $2,000 in 2004 and $2,500 in 2005.”
