The Public Service Alliance of Canada condemns the Harper government’s decision to close Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) offices in Vancouver, Toronto and Halifax. The union maintains that the closure of the three offices will make it substantially harder for individuals from marginalized groups to launch human rights complaints.
The three offices slated for closure received 70 per cent of all signed complaints to the CHRC in 2008.
Finally a little good news. I’d taken to watching Glenn Beck in recent days, just for the calming effect.

Talking of the CBC.
Throughout the day, the American network CNN showed a number of times the same segment. It had voice mail to one Bart Stupak of Michigan. One was a gruff voiced man threatening Stupak. Stupak changed his vote on the health care bill. Then a woman’s voice talking about the combined wishes centering on wishing him ill.
Susan Bonner used this exact segment on CBC about half an hour ago. No proof, no indification, no nothing. Obviously Bonner was playing the game of trying to link ordinary Americans who do not wish the new health bill. The segment has been shown again and again, including linking Sarah Palin with some sort of anarchy.
CBC has to be a sacred cow. Still the Harper government has taken a step to cut down this body, the HRC.
My only concern is that Harper may be playing to some of his constituency. He needs to look at CBC. Surely we, as taxpayers should not be subsidising obvious interference with America and it’s internal politics.
My guess is that the HRC employees can’t be let off; they are members of the public service union. That means jobs-for-life. So, other equally useless jobs will be found for them.
It’s great that these unjust commissions will be, ah, marginalized.
Now, as others have said, for the CBC.

O/T From time to time, there is the subject that comes up here in the threads that Harper and the CPC are not conservative enough and that it logically follows that there is not much difference between them and the LPC. Whereas there is something to the first statement (perhaps more than any of us would like), we should also remember the few days like this where the good guys are winning.

Kraut, I don’t think in terms of races or colour. I think in terms of tribes (Bill Whittle wrote a really good article on this). Essentially, you have a tribe that seeks to better their lot in life by working hard, following the rules (like the 10 Commandments), raising a family based on these tenets and generally striving to make society a better place where all get the same opportunities. The other tribe does not–they want to get something for nothing and society can go to he** as long as they get their entitlements. We’ve got to raise more of the former and shrink the latter.f

Not so fast. There have been hints plus inferences in the Moon Report and elsewhere that the CHRC should withdraw to a “research, advisory, and instructional role” leaving the investigation/enforcement side to suitably trained (brainwashed?) departments of police forces and crown attorneys.
Cautious polite applause at this point. If there is less than a cosmic meltdown among the usual suspects, we are being conned.
I had a greater than usual interest in the 2 recent appeals cases involving Stephen Boissoin in Alberta and Bill Whatcott in Saskatchewan. My interest was great enough to read both judgements in their entirety.
I had concluded after reading the 2 decisions that with those decisions at the provincial appellate level and the momentum started by Steyn and Levant, the power of the HRCs to use Section 13 or the provincial equivalents was already over. However, it is nice to see the next step being taken.

Maybe they can put them in that Human Rights Museum in Winnipeg, right next to my human rights which are going to be stored there now that I don’t have them any more.

In other words the remaining 40% – the white people – are not a race and thus are undeserving of protection by the Human Rights Courts.
That is how the Left, the Main Stream Media, Academia, Hollywood and the Human Right Courts make me feel.

I don’t think Harper even has to threaten to fire them. I think he should announce that, in the name of economic diversity, he is relocating the CHRC offices to, say, Elliott Lake, Ontario. There should be a generous relocation allowance to anyone who wants to move and keep their job (and the cost of a home in Elliott Lake is about half the cost of a home in Ottawa, so everyone who moved would get an effective raise).

Over the many years that I’ve been observing governments in this country I’ve noticed a pattern. Shortly after winning an election the party in power will make good on a few of their promises then in mid-term they go into sleep mode and in the few months prior to the next election out they come with the rest of the stuff their supporters wanted. I fully expect that we will indeed see some corrective action taken against our publicly funded Liberal Party mouthpiece, the CBC. BRING. IT. ON!!!

…with the closing does this mean white people won’t have access to humans rights? Does this mean that the “racialized” people will treat the whites with the dignity and respect that the whites didn’t give them thus no need for such commissions? Does this mean an utopia has been reached because since the “racialized” people are not prejudice, racist, bigoted thus again, no need for such commissions? Does this mean the whites have smartened up? Have been enlightened with the virtues of political correctness?
What does this all mean? Is there a hidden agenda? Is Harper throwing the white vote under the bus? And if so what type of bus? School? City transit? Grey hound? Grey Goose? Will Harper back up and go forward again after running over the white vote the first time?

Actually, I’m hoping the story does not hit the MSM – perhaps we have underground friends in the MSM after all and will ignore the story and focus on Coulter’s complaint. Possible – especially considering the recent events.
I live in BC and had no idea that “In B.C., residents will no longer have access to a human rights commission of any kind, as the B.C. Human Rights Commission was dismantled by the provincial government five years ago.” I think they are referring to the satellite offices that were closed in the Interior, Peace Country and the Thompson-Okanagan – this was done with sevral government services a few years ago, don’t recal exactly when, but certain services were centralized or made available online or through a 1-800. The HRC must have been one of these services.

A co-worker finally had had enough of the PSAC’s
BS and was quite upset that his forced dues were being used to fund outrageous causes. He emailed them and copied his message to all and sundry.
The money quote was ” You are nothing more than a group of Sodomites and Marxist Insurgents”.
He was, of course consigned to an anger management
seminar along with being charged by the Union for harassment. He also became a folk hero to many in the office.
