You claim that one who follows the words of Christ above all else isn’t a Christian
Actually Mouth, if you don’t understand the concept that all things said by all people who ever existed must be taken in context; then we will never agree. Save your bible verse tossings for someone else by the way, it amounts to little more than monkies tossing feces … bible verse jousting is for the ignorant.
So cjunk
What context is needed to understand “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”?
What context is needed to understand “You cannot serve both God and mammon”?
You’re implying there’s some other meaning to these words that only context (and Paul and the church) can bring out. So – what is it?
Fact is, they’re as perfectly clear as they seem to be. It is your dissembling and purposeful clouding of the issue which is unclear. Hey, I can understand why you do it – many people through history have found Christ’s words a little too clear and close to the bone.
Since you questioned the sincerity of my belief I have cited Bible verses which I feel substantiate my belief and from which my belief was inspired in the first place. There is no ‘jousting’ involved. You imply there is something vulgar about this – likely because the view you’re trying to promote is utterly unsubstantiated by the Bible.
Yes, God forbid that someone quote the words of Christ when defining their belief in Christ!
BTW, the plural of ‘monkey’ is ‘monkeys’
Joe and paul in Calgary:
2 Peter 3
13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless,
15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you,
16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,
18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
