I must apologize for our late arrival in the VIP section. We were enjoying ourselves in the VIP Suite before the ceremonies started and time just flew by. The organizing committee did a wonderful job hosting us, the open bar was the best ever. I felt like a VIP gambler at one of our casinos. Nice to be on the receiving end of such hospitality for a change. We were all enjoying the company of Gordon Campbell as well and joined him in many toasts to the success of these Olympics.
On behalf of the First Nations delegation please accept our apologies and may these Olympics be the best ever. Did I mention it was the best open bar ever.

Scott Baker and Liz Stephans from the B-Cast interviewed Dr. John C. Drew today. Drew said he tried to get his story out during the 2008 election. He says he was a Marxist himself in college and was until 1984. He knew Obama at Occidental College and went out to dinner and argued politics with the young Marxist Barack Obama. Drew says Obama was a Marxist-Leninist and believed in redistribution of wealth. He was deceiving the public during the election because he was 100% in agreement with his Marxist pals and professors. Drew still believes that Obama is a socialist.

It looked funny because the female Constable nearest the camera didn’t have a full back swing with her arm. She chopped it short and caught the timing up going forward.
If you have ever taught or done drill, this a pretty common thing. Even funnier when they try so hard they force their arm swing to be out of synch and put the same-side arm and leg forward together.

You do not have to be a conspiracy theorist to see the movement towards global citizenship – even Harper stated that Canada needs to move foreword with the plans of the United Nations to establish a New World Order. I noticed no mention of athletes competing for their countries either at the opening ceremonies at the Olympics – only their sport – telling in my view.

Global citizenship isn’t new, we’ve been moving in that direction
for a century or two, depending on how one measures the start.
Wow, I’m watching the bit about Cindy Klassen’s sister’s car accident. She’s talking about how God and the family’s faith held them up. Could you imagine the uproar if this were shown on CBC? Church and state! Church and state!
well, I’d say that we’ve been moving into a global social, economic and political infrastructure in particular, since the two world wars.
These wars ended the phase of the nation-states plus their extensions (colonies and dependents) and moved us into a new kind of network. It’s far more flexible and amorphous – and I’m not saying this is to its benefit, but its key hubs are less stable than the old Nation-Empires of the colonial era.
This is occurring as the so-called ‘developing areas’ of the world move into an industrial economy. Since the world is not homogeneous in its resources then, each area has to figure out for itself what its role is in this global economic network.
Is it just oil? Is that all they can produce and contribute in this global economy? That creates a lot of problems for both the Islamic nations and the other nations.
And there’s the other problem besides the imbalance of resources and technology. There’s the old conflict between the political structure. Is it two-class, with an elite set of Rulers who run everything with the hoi polloi masses following along? That’s the fight right now in Iran.
Socialism, fascism and communism are all similar; two class top down rule.
Or is it capitalism and democracy, which is three class, with the middle class having economic and political power. That’s the fight that is going on in the US, with Obama and his gang trying to set up a statist two-class socialism.
A socialist system, as well all know, is a recipe for the heat death of a society.
It’s information, ET. It started with global sailing empires and the printing press, expanded to Britain’s semi-global rail empire, and then added information telegraph lines along the rail right-of-ways. For the first time in history, the central clock in New Delhi could be set from Big Ben within the second. Then came radio-telegraph, and the information revolution went truly, instantly global. Then airplanes, radio, television, the Internet: we live in one world of information now, and information is the one thing that humans do better than all other species. What will me make of all this, other than watching sailing races on the Internet? Now, now, everyone knows that Vitruvius doesn’t do predictions 😉

However,I must disagree with your idea that there is no ‘world order’; perhaps not ‘new’ by your standard.
There is a movement towards global government, less autonomy for individual nations. Copenhagen, Kyoto accord and UN are a few symptoms of that.
Also it is prophesised in Scripture.
The writing is on the wall.
It is not the case that it is “[my] idea that there is no ‘world order'”, BlueTech, therefore you can’t disagree with me about that, although the use of the word order in there may be asking the English language to carry more weight than it can reasonably bear. The writing is not on the wall. That’s not a prediction, that’s an observation.

Speaking of the tolerant, compassionate, intellectual left, here’s a short anecdote.
Last evening I was at work and a very left colleague came into the office to show an out-of-town friend where he works. We had the Olympic opening ceremonies on and PMSH happened to be on screen. Well, the lefty colleague said, and I’m quoting verbatim, “Boooooo! Throw him in the luge with the Georgian guy!” It was all I could do to maintain my composure and tell him that that was an extremely vile thing to say.
I’m actually still shocked–I mean I knew he wasn’t a Harper guy, but to wish him dead? Vile.
Oh and I forgot to mention–the same lefty colleague recently asked for and got a transfer from our office (Winnipeg) to one near his home (Toronto). Make of that what you will. (I, for one, won’t miss him.)
You complained about that once a few years ago, Me No Dhimmi. Look, I don’t want to break the no chatting rule, but it remains the case that there are legitimate uses for active negatives and double- negatives in order to properly delineate the set-theoretic sub-spaces of the Venn diagram we are discussing. blue tech – I’ll disagree. There isn’t a new ‘world order’ in the sense of a stable system of authority. It’s moved into a complex adapative system and that’s not stable by dynamic.
As Vitruvius points out, we live in ONE world of information. Information exists only as an interaction; this means that information operates within a network.
What is interesting about this global network is that the ‘hubs’ or points of informational interaction aren’t all the same in terms of information load, information capacity, information ‘push’..whatever word one uses to describe them.
There are key hubs, such as New York, Tokyo etc. And zillions of other hubs. Notice that this suggests that the importance of nations as discrete sovereign powers is lessening and cities are increasing in power. A city might be a key hub, such as Dubai.
Another interesting thing is that the hubs aren’t stable. They rise in global importance and lose that importance.
Yet another interesting thing is that there are multiple levels of informational relations. The old systems of linear newspapers are unable to deal with the informational power of the individual with a cell phone and youtube.
But, what happens if you’ve got a govt system that inhibits the generation and diffusion of information? That happens in statist systems where the authoritarian powers reject the informational operation of the network (C-span?, Tea Parties?).

Despite semantics or an adequate or agreed upon definition of a New World Order, the end result will look like this: global leader, global court, global army, global monetary system, global food distribution,and global natural resource distribution. If there is any soverienty for the nations, it will be in the form of cultural traditions, and most certainly, any laws a nation has will be interpreted and applied under the global constitution, or rule of law.

Actually, 72, it won’t be as uniformly global as we speculate.
The fascinating reality is that the planet is not homogeneous. Ecologically and biologically it is very diverse. This diversity won’t disappear within a global complex network. It will actually increase!
It sounds strange but if we moved into a uniform global structure, the only way for that to exist would be a reduction of diversity to the ‘lowest common denominator’. We’ll all be rather dull and similar.
But the population or energy content of the world is too large for this to happen, so what we’ll see is some levels of life becoming common, such as electronic communication, travel hubs (airports tend to be rather similar) etc. And yet regional or local identities will increase even as the shared identities coexist.
Complex systems are, well, they are complex.

One thing about natives dancing is that they made me welcome to join in when I was a kid… and/or anytime. That was in Caugenawaga..or what they now call Gananoquay today. [ Probably because Chateauguay is nearby, not sure?].
Anyway, it was great fun. Canada’s native population makes a lot of excellent art work that is in demand all over the world.

We have a Canadian Shania Twain, with a beautiful face and a beautiful voice, why did they hire KD Lang? And the ‘tribute’ to the Celtic settlers was, if you looked, a slap in the face to all of us Celts. The ragged, tattooed punks with nasty hairdos and ‘stompin’ boots looked like a Hells Angels gang from “Braveheart”. I did not like the devil horns on the first fiddler punk – Celts built the roads and settled the farms; we produced the prosperity that enabled the multi cult Vancouver to host those games – the Celts who built this nation came from the 18th century, not the 13th and they were not Devils who destroyed, they were and are patriots who built. All Celts came here to be free of the English overlords in the old country.
I did not see tributes to any other Canadian citizens from places like China, Japan, Poland, Germany, France, Spain, Ukraine, Russia, Italy…I guess they didn’t count.
The people flopping about under the trees just looked foolish, IMO. The show could have been truly awesome with a little imagination; it was not.
The opening ceremony at the Calgary Olympics in 1988 was stand up fabulous because it was real and heartfelt; it was an expression of Alberta within Canada. Did anyone see the B.C. Summer Olympics opening ceremonies?
