Addressing the recent murders of two women, allegedly by Col. Russell Williams, Charlie Smith of the Georgia Straight has a couple of questions, one for the Canadian Armed Forces and one for Canadians in general:
Is (the Canadian Armed Forces) using the psychopathy checklist, which was pioneered by retired UBC psychology professor Bob Hare, to ferret out psychopaths? I emailed a question to the Department of National Defence, and I received a call back saying the inquiry couldn’t be answered this evening. However, someone will call back tomorrow.
In the meantime, perhaps we should ask ourselves if this is another cost of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s decision to prorogue Parliament…
Honestly now…

Using the word “alleged” doesn’t mean that the person using it has doubt about someone’s guilt, it’s really just a legal requirement of sorts, and should be a default addition to any description of someone who’s been charged but not yet convicted. Albeit it might seem unnecessary to use it when someone’s guilt seems 99.9999 percent certain – as it is in this case – it’s still advisable to use the word, particularly when commenting on someone else’s blog.
“Last night, an almost rabid female CBC “newsperson” badgered the CDS with persistent and hectoring questions about “psychological testing”.”
That was Susan Ormiston who, until last night, I thought was one of the less dim lights on Pravda. Mrs. felis commented: “what a complete twit” and I had to agree.
Gen Natynczyk maintained his dignity very well in the face of such ludicrous importunement.
But it looks like our poor excuse for a media are setting up our poorer excuse for an Opposition to start demanding a multi-year, multi-million dollar inquiry into how Canadian military officers are recruited and promoted. With the intent, of course, of getting something to stick to PMSH.
Media consumer goes dumpster diving in BC rag and comes up with a turd….eh?
TV Viewers stick faces into feces and discover stink.
File those under No SH!T Sherlock!!!

I thought he was magnificent, absolutely magnificent. He stopped her in her tracks with the gentlest expression of supreme tolerance that would humble even the most rabid female news reporter. I’m sure she scuttled away with her tail between her legs.
CBC funding slashed 60% by the time is over? Hopefully.
Interesting how prime ministers, governor generals etc. are all over the place, (arrive in their challenger jets) when there are media events like our fallen soldiers being repatriated. Looks good to be associated there.
Haven’t seen one prime minister, premier, governor general… any non military politician higher than the local mayor, utter a single comment about this heinous betrayal by their top colonel. No rock too far away to hide under. Olympics in Vancouver pretty far I guess.
