  1. You have to love President Obama – less than a year in office and Anthropogenic Global Warming has been fixed. Well, except for a little bit of cleanup. It doesn’t look like he will be able to close the Guantanamo Bay Prison as he pledged. But I think that there is an opportunity for a win-win here.
If he arrested Al Gore, Michael Mann, James Hansen and then did a rendition on David Suzuki from Canada, Phil Jones and others from the CRU in England, I think that Gitmo would be an ideal location to hold them while determining their future.
Science would be restored to its rightful place, the Nobel Prize would be deserved and reelection in 2012 would be a cake walk.

  5. Lonesome George. Not the other George.
George agrees/concurs: >>> Denial is a BIG river.
The meltdown of AGW. It’s over.
AGW fraud was a finite ideology. AGW had a beginning; AGW is now at its end.
Is George in full CYA mode? Is George hoping to keep his perky job? What gives with George? Is George rational?
    …-
    George Monbiot:
“Pretending the climate email leak isn’t a crisis won’t make it go away
Climate sceptics have lied, obscured and cheatedfor years. That’s why we climate rationalists must uphold the highest standards of science.”
have seldom felt so alone. Confronted with crisis, most of the environmentalists I know have gone into denial. The emails hacked from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia, they say, are a storm in a tea cup, no big deal, exaggerated out of all recognition. It is true that climate change deniers have made wild claims which the material can’t possibly support (the end of global warming, the death of climate science). But it is also true that the emails are very damaging.
The response of the greens and most of the scientists I know is profoundly ironic, as we spend so much of our time confronting other people’s denial. Pretending that this isn’t a real crisis isn’t going to make it go away. Nor is an attempt to justify the emails with technicalities. We’ll be able to get past this only by grasping reality, apologising where appropriate and demonstrating that it cannot happen again.”

  6. I just sent the following email to my MP.
I’m sure you are well aware of the scandalous information coming out of the Hadley CRU organization in Britain. Much of the data at Hadley was used by the IPCC to skim money from us to fight so called “climate change.” Now we are learning that the data has been fudged and manipulated, peer reviews rejected if they did not agree with Hadley CRU’s conclusions, stonewalling Freedom of Information requests and much, much more. One leaked email virtually celebrated the death of a crititic, aother expressed a wish to do physical harm to to a persistent scientist who disagreed. In addition, independant computer programmers and analysts who have examined the data have concluded it is unworkable at best and garbage at least.
I hope this scandal is enough for Canada to put the brakes on spending more taxpayer money on this potentially huge international fraud. Our representatives at Copenhagen must make it clear that “the science is settled” mantra can no longer be tolerated.
It also should be noted that I am fed up with my tax dollars going to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation which has chosen to deliberately ignore this scandal while giving air time to the likes Al Gore and David Suzuki. The CBC should be privatized with no further delay.

  7. Incredible. If they can get the code to compile/ run and it produces results identical to something this group has published…then the CRU folks will be toast. They can argue all they want about emails being subjective and taken out of context. But they won’t be able to squirm out from under this.
Will the person who leaked all of this be getting a Nobel Prize to match that of Gore and company?

  8. Will B.C. Premier Campbell now revoke his “carbon tax” forthwith, or will we revoke Gordo?

  9. the person who leaked this or hacked it will probably do a lot of time in the slammer.
    laying low i’m sure

  10. Yes, as the Lady on Sask radio said yesterday(paraphrase) – as damning as the climate alarmists’ emails are, the real crime shows up in the data, computer codes. IOW the cooking of the data.

  11. Why is Gore slamming the oilsands?
The alberta government came up with a plan to scam the scammers.
    Carbon capture and storage.

  12. I’ve got a better idea Doug.
Send the Nutley CRU to the north pole.
With all the warming going on they should be comfortable. They won’t starve either. They could eat all the dead polar bears.

  13. What real purpose did Mr. Roosevelt promote through the way he used his imperial powers? He
furthered the main principles of a plan for the redistribution of the earth published in 1942 (but
clearly prepared much earlier) by a mysterious ‘Group for a New World Order’, headed by a Mr.
Moritz Gomberg. What this group proposed was startling at the time but proved farsighted. The
main recommendations were that the Communist Empire should be extended from the Pacific to
the Rhine, with China, Korea, Indo-China, Siam and Malaya in its orbit; and that a Hebrew State
should be set up on the soil of ‘Palestine, Transjordan and the adjoining territories’. These two
projects were largely realized. Canada and numerous ‘strategic islands’ were to pass to the United
States (the reader should keep these ‘strategic islands’ in mind). The remaining countries of Western
Europe were to disappear in a ‘United States of Europe’ (this scheme is being vigorously pursued at
present). The African continent was to become a ‘Union of Republics’. The British Commonwealth
was to be left much reduced, the Dutch West Indies joining Australia and New Zealand in it. The
scheme looks like a blueprint of the second stage in a grand operation of three stages, and
substantial parts of it were achieved; what was not then accomplished is being energetically
    attempted now.
Opps. Now why did I cut and paist that in there? Me bad.

  14. Lorrie Goldstein of the Toronto Sun has an excellent article on this scam in today’s paper.
    http://www.torontosun.com/comment/columnists/lorrie_goldstein/2009/11/25/11915496-sun.html
We have been exchanging emails on this subject over the last few days and he said the Sun would print several columns on this and they did today. Lorrie believes as I do that the fix is in because of the massive amounts of money involved. The other Sun articles sourced from AP notes that UofT professor Danny Harvey said the hacked emails “were much ado about nothing” and “there is no denying that humans are behind climate change and we have 12 independent indicators telling us the climate is warming”
Has anyone heard of these 12 indicators? I thought all data shows the earth is cooling.
Another article has AlBore stating how Dr. Fruitfly is “a great leader on these issues”

  15. Thanks, Kate, for keeping us up to date on this.
I now believe in man made-up global warming.

  16. “The climatologist at the centre of the leaked emails row said today that he “absolutely” stands by his research and that any suggestion that the emails provide evidence of a conspiracy to manipulate or hide data that do not support the theory of man-made climate change was “complete rubbish”. ”
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/nov/24/climate-professor-leaked-emails-uea
    See, its settled.
So now they will investigate leaked emails instead ’cause that’s the only real crime here.
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/nov/23/climate-change-emails-uea
    Move along folks.

  17. Doug, it’s increasingly unclear that this was hacked from outside. More and more it appears that it was a package prepared to meet an FOI request, that was in fact released from inside.

  18. We will be magnanimous in victory – I think life in max for Gore and Suzuki, fraud convictions for all the rest? And as much humiliation as you can dish out, daily if possible, to anyone who believed this $hit.

  19. “They can argue all they want about emails being subjective and taken out of context. But they won’t be able to squirm out from under this.” [ by bryceman]
They already have by stating other scientists independently came to the same conclusions as they did.
“Our global temperature series tallies with those of other, completely independent, groups of scientists working for Nasa and the National Climate Data Centre in the United States, among others. Even if you were to ignore our findings, theirs show the same results. The facts speak for themselves; there is no need for anyone to manipulate them.”
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/nov/24/climate-professor-leaked-emails-uea

  20. Well, it seems that there must have been so much more carbon released in the 40s and 60s to have so much more warming happening up until then but not since. All scientific data should be released to the public for scrutiny – not just this crowd but all scientific data. Transparency is the only way to build trust.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Climate is not even close to being understood. There is no model on the face of the earth that is even close to imitating that which mother nature is responsible for – way, way, way too many variables (possibly ones that aren’t even considered yet). It is certainly most arrogant to assume that humans can possibly change the earth’s climate cycles.
Even if the AGW crowd were right (which they aren’t), global warming is infinitely preferable to global cooling (which would cause massive death from starvation, and cause certain parts of the globe to become inhabitable).

  21. Do you folks comprehend what those screenshots mean?
They mean that GW scam is not going for the past 10-20 years, no! It’s at least 60 years old.
Someone knew that there was a decline in t°, but created a worldwide conspiracy to mask that fact. And as you know, the more horrific is the lie, the easier to believe in it, right, Mr. Goebbels?
You need to understand, that the fact that global temperatures were declining was strategically used to shift flows of wealth away from North America and Europe. Think in whose best interests it would be.
Shawn, I know why you pasted that in here – because that’s frightening relevant. The Western civilization is like that dinosaur, whose brain was size of a garlic clove and so far from its tail, that it would not feel if the tail was being bitten. Someone is biting our tail, but we are not yet feeling it and are too preoccupied to think about it.

  22. The unfolding Climategate revelations have clearly shown that an organized criminal enterprise has been at work. I use the term “organized criminal” because how else could you explain multiple individuals manipulating data quite deliberately and greatly benefiting financially as a result?
I don’t see how this is any different than unsavory stock promoters doing unethical & illegal things to drive up the price of stocks.

  23. can i now make and show an agit-prop commercial to suzuki’s grandkids as he has to mine? will the govt give me some funding for this as they have to him?

  24. “there is no denying that humans are behind climate change and we have 12 independent indicators telling us the climate is warming”
    What 12 independent indicators?
Ah, not that I want to doubt you Mr. Harvey, but got proof?
    Paging Izzy! paging Izzy!
And wasn’t the original ‘Green Party’ of Canada started by a pro marijuana group?
Just recalled that for some reason.

  25. Alas, even those learned colleagues immersed in science for decades and decades cannot, will not, listen to any reason. Reason, the only hope, should faith fail.
Incredulous, I read another response to an email I sent out yesterday. It included…
“I respect your views immensely, but as other great men we know well (on the redshift debate: Hoyle, Arp, Burbidge, and even my good buddy xxxxx), you are honestly on the wrong side of what is not even a debate any longer.”
Again we are confronted with the premeditated, and cleverly crafted first-degree deceit by a relative few. This time, it’s Big Time. It is designed to infect the vast masses of ordinary folk together with kings and queens and presidents and prime ministers. And the gullible, charlatan media in their fumbling silence collude with their puppeteers.
It is so obvious that education, rank, eminence are no defense, no antidote, no example to follow. Wisdom does not recognise education, rank, or eminence. Daily, if not by the hour, we learn that Truth has nothing in common with them. Nothing.
Of course Islam is an enemy of giant proportions. But the enemy within is far greater. If so many “learned” folks can so easily be duped by so few other “learned” folks, what chances can the ordinary citizen have? My answer to that is: much greater! Their lenses typically have a much wider angle. A bondage-badge-of-the-left has not been conferred on them by any university.
How smooth is the lefty-liquor to the lefty-palate. How easily Islam flourishes in the dirt of those bondage-badges.
Reason, the only hope, should faith fail. But where is reason in a shameless age?
Which all could mean — GET RID of the Canadian Brainwashing Corporation.

  26. This will be the biggest scientific event in history.
Unfortunately it will be the biggest event that never was acted upon, there is no way the political class and intellectuals in the western countries will ever let something like the truth or science derail the Climate Change momentum.
Obama will attend Copenhagen and spell out emission caps and regulations so you know it is falling of deaf ears.
The current Governments in EU, America, and Australia have gone “all in” on this subject and they have used it to invade National Security,Trade Deficits, Job Creation and Taxation policies. They do not have a PLAN B. Without Climate Change their Energy, Security, Jobs and Economic Policy Plans are dead.
This will be the largest “ignored” scientific revelation that ever happened in history. IT has been propped up with so many other issues that mitigating Climate Change is not really the “supported” goal anymore (it never was) it was a convenient excuse to put all the other issues on the table and build an even larger intrusion into markets in order to control capital flows in Global Terms.

  27. Climate change (global warming) is the current vehicle ‘they’ are using to form ‘world governance’. Who are ‘they’? Can we expose them? How do we fight for our freedom? Is it the UN, the political class, is it the banks, or all of the above? The scientist were just the useful idiots.

  28. “Hide the Decline”
I clicked and expected to see Obamasiah’s numbers.
Maybe he can can “Toes” to buy this code and sneak it onto US polling company servers.

  29. cgh – “Doug, it’s increasingly unclear that this was hacked from outside. More and more it appears that it was a package prepared to meet an FOI request, that was in fact released from inside.”
Similar to what I think, however, I think this information was packaged together by the CRU into a file with the express purpose of hiding it from an FOI request, which made it convenient for the whistle-blower to send out.

  30. Lorenzo:
To answer your question, US is not kicking UN out of New York City and are not cutting funding to it, despite UN regularly voting against the US interests. Are the USA a masochistic state? Hell, no! There must be a very good reason US 1) exists and 2) has HQ in the US.

  31. Kate: A few minutes ago Charles Adler just gave you blog a plug….he was telling his audience to log on to Small Dead Animals for up to date info on Climategate!

  32. “UofT professor Danny Harvey said the hacked emails “were much ado about nothing” and “there is no denying that humans are behind climate change and we have 12 independent indicators telling us the climate is warming”
The problem with Mr. Harvey’s point is that the central issue is not whether or not the climate is warming (and it looks like currently NOT) the question is whether or not CO2 from fossil fuels is a driving factor. This we do not know, and if his claim is “there is no denying humans are behind climate change: (an incredible statement really), then supporting data must be produced.
It now looks like top scientists have been fudging their results to get a desired outcome. How do we know that many others are not doing exactly the same thing? Given the grant money involved, there is good reason to believe that they are. One of the problems here is that the integrity of climate science is now called into question.

  33. “Obama will attend Copenhagen and spell out emission caps and regulations …..”
    From the latest news:
“Mr. Obama will tell the delegates to the climate conference that the United States intends to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions “in the range of” 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020 and 83 percent by 2050, officials said. The administration has resisted until now delivering a firm pledge on emissions reductions because Congress has not yet acted on global warming legislation and because several large developing nations, including China and India, have not detailed their own plans.”
    Oblivious (!?)

  34. I previously posted this at Celestial Junk:

This sordid little episode does not disprove AGW. There’s likely still a good case to be made – I think.
What is clear, however, is that climate researchers must make public all data, software, and methodologies that they base their results on. If they don’t then (1) public funding of their research must cease, and (2) journals should not accept their papers.
Once this information is made public, some of the more significant papers should be reviewed to gauge how well they stand up. If they don’t, or if the reviewers do not have enough information to form a decision, the papers should be officially desanctified.
Given that the fate of the earth (and trillions of dollars) depends on it, I don’t think this is too radical.
“Argument from authority” is not acceptable in science, and without access to researchers’ sources, that is where we now find ourselves.

  35. WUWT has done yeomans service.
Here’s a beauty that will have all mathematicians and physicists rolling in the aisles.
“..so the data value is unbfeasibly large, but why does the
    sum-of-squares parameter OpTotSq go negative?!!”
Yes … sum anything squared and its always POSITIVE!
The program notes are a parade of liner notes on how not to do science.
These AGW people are so massively FARCed up they should be charged with climate terrorism.
AGW is a form of mathematical leprosy.
