Presuming that these email excerpts collected by Delingpole are not taken out of context, this is amazing stuff. It indicates a clear debauchery and politicalization of the scientific method.
All researchers want their horse to win, but for most its tempered – at least at the conscious level – by a deep dedication to fair play and the truth. As a whole their integrity has always impressed me. If these emails by Phil Jones are as bad as they appear, he should spend the rest of his days as a Wall-Mart greeter, cause he doesn’t deserve to be a scientist.

    Now, I know that the last thing we can expect the right to do is wait for an explanation, but if you hunt around a bit, you see that the scientists in question are already out explaining how when they say things like “trick”, the don’t mean “to fool”.
    Regardless, go on ignoring the fact that every single major scientific body on the planet is in consensus that climate change is happening, and humans are partially the cause.

    Aggregate polar ice cap mass has been increasing for at least the last 30 years.
    Look up “East Antarctic Ice Sheet” for a start.

    As for the Arctic, there was more ice in 2009 than in 2008. There was more ice in 2008 than in 2007, yet C02 levels have risen in that time? To quote Keynes: “When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?”

  45. I’m just beginning to grasp what this is all about and the magnitude of it all. Will this really be as big as everyone here is suggesting? Surely some columnist is going to run with it, despite questions of legality. I mentioned it to several people at work today and got blank stares or that look of comprehension that you know is put on. Sure hope this isn’t some big hoax; it seems too good to be true. (Though sad for what it says about their lying ways)

    You miss the fact that the prepoderance of the other e-mails show their intent is to fool people.
    Regardless, you may be right about that one e-mail.
    Maybe they were using the word trick as a prostitute would use it, as in ” to turn a trick”, whoring science out so to speak.
