What Would We Do Without Norman Spector?

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
Norm Spector, expertus emeritus“Where’s Mr. Brown these days, you ask? Well, he isn’t anchoring the CBS Evening News, a job that is now held by Katie Couric. True, she got off to a rocky start, but she’s found her feet and is now thriving”.
Associated Press Once again, Katie Couric’s evening newscast was watched by fewer people than any network newscast.

  1. Who is this Spector guy? I find nothing more contemptible than a self-described “bald, white, aging boomer” who tries to suck up to other pressure groups by disparaging himself. He epitomizes everything that’s wrong with today’s so-called elite.

  2. I would change that to “stupidus non-emeritus”. After all, dumb can be fixed, stupid is forever.Of course,in his world, the AP does not exist as a “news” organization.

  3. Hey you mean the Norman Spector who is VERY lucky I didn’t sue him after he falsely called me a liar, repeatedly, at the Western Standard blog?
The Norman Spector who nevertheless still has a respectable, well paying job in Big Media while I don’t?
Just a reminder at this juncture that Rush Limbaugh has more daily listeners than the Big 3 network news shows combined have daily viewers. That is all…

  4. Mr. Spector wants the CBC to replace Mansbridge with a female anchor, citing Susan Bonner or “Alison Smith, who should have had Peter Mansbridge’s job years ago.”
Spector scolds: “I say: get with it CBC.”
If the CBC really wants to “get with it”, how about giving the news anchor job to George Stephanopoulos? If that’s not “with it” enough, dress him up with lipstick and a wig.

  5. Kathy,
Have you ever thought of the reason(s) why you don’t have that well paying Big Media job? I can think of a few.
Rush Limbaugh has 3 times the viewers because he’s an entertaining former drug addict baffoon not because of his insightful reporting. Remember America is home to the ‘Balloon Boy’ and other egotistical attention getters who have their noteriety enhanced with child-like bad behaviour.

  6. nses
“”” Remember America is home to the ‘Balloon Boy’ and other egotistical attention getters who have their noteriety enhanced with child-like bad behaviour.”””
like More Moore, and cnn’s tingling leg guy????

  7. Meanwhile back at the ranch, Tom Clark saying PM Harper put out a press release stating the Globe & Mail is a mouthpiece for the Liberal Party. lol!

  8. and Harper doesn’t watch CDN news on TV! Ha.
he does watch US news, but didn’t specify.
    not likely for katie

  9. Watching the CBC is like getting the news from the L party. I don’t watch because of the sneers. Although Mansbridge does not do it as much as some to me the institution is tainted. Wafergate? Doorknobgate? If I wanted WK’s BS I would read his blog. The local guy should be dewormed or pull his shorts out of his butt.

  10. not stirred enough: I thought you on the left were on the side of people with addiction issues. You’re showing your (fake)tolerance again!

  11. nses….you forgot to add that Kathy tells the truth and exposes hypocritical commie/socialists like you. OBTW…she is also a recovering alcholic, like me,so maybe we should both be at the Communist Broadcasting Corp???

  12. I find it amusing that Fox News gets more viewers than all other American networks combined. Surely one of them will be facing bankruptcy soon. Not soon enough, in my books.

  13. Justthinkin,
Recovering alcoholic is not child-like bad behaviour, its actually good behaviour so it doesn’t qualify as American style noteriety.
The other qualities you’ve mentioned are noble but not entertaining. And that’s the point I’m making…to make it the next level you have to be practiced at delivering entertainment value (a Limbaugh trait).
    Soccermom,
I’m a centerist (like PMSH), not a true socialist commie leftie at all. Harper is my idea of what a Canadian politician should be and I’ve made that clear in several past posts.

  14. “Facts if necessary but not necessarily facts*”
RSP asks: “Who is this Spector guy?”
You mean Abnormal and his other brother Red-Green?
Memories are made of this: search archives.

  15. The real makeover needed at CBCpravda , hidden agenda . anyone else pick up CBCs poll story this morning, started off as Liberals narrow lead, became Tories still lead in polls, then it got shifted to the back pages ,
    check out these two stories.
    CTVtass names him

CBCpravda will not even allege a minority.

CBCpravda , All Liberal All the Time

  16. Spector, ( red tory) if I am not mistaken was an Ambassador to Israel for the liyan Brian Mulroney administration.
If the CBC really was interested in airing s successful prime time program it would get a conservative voice on air, (which it has never had since its inception)
lets say a Catherine “Kate” McMillan, a Kathy Shaidle or a Wendy Sullivan and give George Strombopolous a London Ontario Health Sciences Centre half million dollar style payout and good riddance.
My guess is CBC would have a real winner for a change.

  17. Katie Couric is still working in television? Guess I’m not watching enough. Last time I saw her she had someone shoving a camera up her hoobajoob on live TV. I mean, geez. If I wanted to watch crap like that I’d turn on CBC.
I just download the shows I want to watch onto my media server now.

  18. Norman’s not so bad. He regularly kicks the snuff out of Warren Kinsella, not that takes much skill.

  19. baffoon
    noteriety
    centerist
Okay, idiot boy, let’s take it nice and slow: buffoon, notoriety and centrist. I’m not surprised Limbaugh is tough for you to understand.

  20. Fred – when Spector shows up to protest Kinsella, you’re supposed to pray for a runaway bus, not pick a favourite.

  21. maz2:
Your link didn’t work for some reason.
I asked about Spector because, being an American, I’d never heard of him. We have plenty like him in America, though… white guys of my age, 65 or younger, who pretend to be tormented by the prominence of their own group in society. Because it is essentially timid, manipulative and insincere, I find the implied self-abasement repulsive. But worse is the abandonment of individual merit as the sole criterion of advancement. The notion of “group rights”, as opposed to individual rights, is a recipe for social fragmentation.

  22. Kate 4:22, lol, good point. Not much difference between a “Progressive” Conservative and a Liberal. Forget the Marxist NDP, to them anything that serves their purpose is “truth” no matter how blatant a an untruth it is.
These days you have to be a conservative to carry on the classical liberal heritage.

  23. Jeez, Spector – I haven’t given that twit a thought in years – not since he got the boot from the Western Standard blog. Does he actually still write for the Globe?

  24. Self-deprecation is the name of the game these days. Silly, really.
I don’t care who is the frontman/woman/monkey for CBC. My cynicism is brusque.
As for Katie Couric, karma did not care for her treatment of Sarah Palin. That’s a thigh-high boot up your bum, Katie.

  25. nses…good points. But how does that explain Letterman? Oh wait. I forgot my 1000’s of affairs.
what’s the employment # for the CeeB?

  26. Biffy,
It’s apropos that your alias is taken from Death of Salesman and the planet where boys are from. There, is that slow enough for you to understand?

  27. Spector’s in the same category as Mansbridge — as in I’m-Peter-Mansbridge-and-you’re-not.
The Canadian media gene pool is extremely and stupefyingly small.
    What more can I say?

  28. Justthinkin,
I think Letterman jumped the shark. Besides affairs are more like borderline criteria. Coming unglued like Spears, Nolte or Hilton is far better.
Even Rod Blagojevich is starring in a reality show with some other of America’s finest.

  29. Well, Spector lives in the Cordova Bay area, so it’s no surprise that all the champaigne socialists in that neck of the woods (Greater Victoria) have had some influence on him……..as he decays into old farthood

  30. CBC still on the loose? I thought the gubmint sold it to Rot Stern for $1. Guess that means Judy R still has a chance to push Peter out the door and take over the Teleprompter once all his patrons die off.

  31. I vote for Sheila Copps. That way she could get paid for interrupting. Mind you, Judy R would make an excellent co-host. Garth could be head political analyst.

  32. Norman Spector once accused me of single handedly corrupting Canada’s intellectual traditions. (Or something like that.)
Naturally, this is one of the proudest moments of my life.
He also accused me of being a Yankee spy.
Well naturally, this was outrageous. As a native Texan I would have been a Confederate spy, and associating a Southerner with a Yankee endeavor is offensive.
This was all back in the old days before America became a banana republic, and I was full of piss and vinegar and posted a lot.

  33. So he’s relative??? Noticed his email is explorer6.WTF….and zero referrals for his blog/article…ummmmm

  34. You RCMP/CPC faggots raided my THC supply….
Media is focused upon lung receptors in addressing flu pandemics. But this Swine Flu should be causing cytokine storm according to this flawed reasoning. The reason it isn’t is that 1918 activated our immune system into overdrive somehow. Most of our immune system is localized in intestine tract. Bird Flu attacks intestinal tract. Is mostly harmless for birds though, but once in a while wipes out birds. Now that my weed is delayed/lost, I might spend the next few weeks discovering just what specifically causes flu to target our lungs like an allergy. I think Bird Fancier’s Lung might offer a cure.
Bioterror is the logical conclusion of your small town ethics; really expect the poor to take it forever??

  35. CBC News couldn’t get more viewers even if they brought back Lorne Green.
Had an interesting call from a pollster the other evening. Lots of questions about what I thought about the CBC News service. Although the person asking the questions didn’t understand English very well (I think she was calling from India) I made sure she got my answers correct about what I thought of the CBC. It was the only reason I didn’t hang up on her.
As for George Stephanopoulos, he’s way too much a tree hugger to be a reporter or newscaster.

  37. justsaying, not being critical, but those of us that are a little slower got it the second time.

  38. “Fred – when Spector shows up to protest Kinsella, you’re supposed to pray for a runaway bus, not pick a favourite.”
Kate I expect we will see a frothing post over at Warren’s site within minutes and that he will file suit against you by 10am tomorrow morning for the above.

  39. Philip your post is fairly incoherent but I can assure you the immune response is not mainly in the gastric system. B and T cells in the blood have the memory of immune response. I won’t go into IGM, IGG et al.

  40. Kate i read your blog quite a bit dear,i say dear cause im older than you most likley, but i have noticed your letting some real goodtopics pass by without comment.Dont let some libtards muzzell you kate.

  41. Whatever many say, Mr Spector has wit, knowledge (not quite in this case, I grant you), and a degree of intellectual honesty rare in our major media. Take a look for a few days at “Norman’s Spectator” and compare with any other Canadian news aggregator.
Also, he’s constantly taking on other members of those major media in a way no-one else among them dares.
Kate posted this today Mickey I.’s ignorance about Mahar Arar’s rendition to Syria. Mr Spector chose the same Toronto Star story as his “Bouquet” today:
“Ignatieff gets his facts wrong in Arar case”
Disagree yes, but no need reflexively to disrespect.
