In the awarding of the Peace Prize at this early stage in his presidency, even the Nobel committee has revealed a certain lack of confidence in President Obama.
The Presidency is a four year term. Why not wait until Obama had a track record of accomplishments behind him – unless they were afraid there wouldn’t be any.
Texan – I believe you’re absolutely correct. They are attempting to put BHO in a corner and setting him up for an epic fail. Go out there and bring us WORLD PEACE. No pressure though. Did Chamberlain get a PP for surrendering Czecho to the Nazis? It could turn out to be the same sort of thing. Churchill said to him something like, Sir you have attempted to trade honour for peace and you shall have neither. Fasten seatbelts it may be a bumby ride.
I can see why Obama shelved the news on Iran’s nuclear escapades at the UN and opted for the Miss Universe answer. This award has been in the works for a while with God knows how much political capital invested. For me, the speech at the UN completes the circle. The man cares more for himself and his image than that of the free world, and more importantly, the parts of the world that wish to become free.

Actually I think its heartening that the Nobel Prize went to The One this year.
It means the liberal intellectual establishment is pretty much freaking out world wide. Talk about a desperation play, they hand it to a guy who’s done -nothing- whatsoever his whole life except read a script somebody else wrote for him, and look really good in a suit.
I think they see the End of their time in power, is what it looks like.

The Nobel Peace Prize has always been a political weapon of the left with acceptance from the right for the sake of society’s civilized advancement.

I exactly thought what you did, Kate. The Nobel committee figured they’d better move fast before the Obamessiah reveals his ineptitude and completely flames out. Then I started wondering, who’s behind all this? New World Order and whoever’s behind it came to mind?
Obama’s so unaccomplished and such an empty suit — not to mention empty brain — it’s hard to grasp this “prestigious” award being given to him.

This is so out of this world, it something akin of out of body experience.
Consider this, the person awarded this nobel prize (the spelling intentional as having no significance) has not done one thing for peace, nothing what-so-everg but exhausting hot air.
It is one of the unbelievable things going on in this world that defies anything that would be considered decent common sense behaviour of thinking people.
As it is though, we are not talking of thinking people, what we are talking about are people educated beyond their ability to comprehend common decency and common sense.
The norwegian commetee for this meaningless cash layout is totally out of mind.
What is it exactly that this unfortunate excuse for president, have done for anybody, anywhere for any reason what-so-ever to qualify for the “nobel peace prize”.
There was a time when the Nobel Prize meant to reward excellence. Not so much today.
