    early next year SH will be able to appoint a few more senators to get a majority. Expect very shortly after that to see elected senate legislation tabled in the house as a confidence measure. Then watch the lp and nd choke on it and vote yes.

  12. Gord, I agree. Also, I suspect the Conservatives make this a confidence matter by offering the provinces maybe 20% of the cost of the provincial elections to offset the cost of running concurrent senate elections. That would get the premiers on side I would think.

  16. Cbc has a thing going on about the GUN REGISTRY. It seems they have sent their ‘crack’ team of investigators into the bowels of this liberal wonder and have come up with the astonishing number of SIXTY MILLION dollars that the conservative gov’t (headed by a known karaoke kracker)has failed to collect. Their very biased slant is that the Harper gov’t has failed to take 60 million fron Canadian gunowners and put it into a failed gun registry. They are also making noise about how difficult it is to get things from the gov’t through the ‘freedom of information act’. Holly Fack,the cbc is fighting the FIA people tooth and nail about their own expenses. How much did they spend to attempt to link Schrieber/Mulrooney to Harper? I would guess about 90 million.     The Conservative government is relinquishing millions of dollars in gun registry and licensing fees at a time of record federal budget deficits.
    Documents obtained by CBC News under access to information show the federal government’s decision to waive fees for people licensing their firearms will cost more than $15 million this year alone.   26. The political parties are testing the waters on their latest invasive outrage. Giving anyone a breathalyzer, at any time, for any reason; or everyone at one of those ubiquitous, disgraceful show your papers roadblocks.
    Apparently my Conservative Party cares as much about liberty as the Liberal/Left.
    Which is to say, not at all.
    I guess we don’t have enough laws yet and playing to your law and order base is somehow more noble than playing to your immigration or arts base.

  34. AG: ACORN Embezzlement Totaled $5M, Not $1M
    BATON ROUGE, La. — An internal review by ACORN’s board of directors found that $5 million was embezzled from the community organization, far more than the previously reported amount of $1 million, according to documents released Monday.
    The new amount was reported in a subpoena from the investigation by Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell, The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune reported. It is unclear if the money was taken from state, federal or private funds, according to the subpoena.

  36. This is the greatest answering machine recording of all time. The story behind it: Kids were missing too much school (15 – 30 days) per semester and were receiving failing grades. The parents of those kids were routinely harassing school staff to try to get their kids to pass. The school board voted unanimously to change the answering machine message to this as a result.
