Bottom line: The AmeriCorps IG accuses prominent Obama supporter of misusing AmeriCorps grant money. Prominent Obama supporter has to pay back more than $400,000 of that grant money. Obama fires AmeriCorps IG.

This afternoon the President and First Lady Mrs. O attended a Medal of Honor ceremony for U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Jared C. Monti who was killed in Afghanistan in June 2006. For the occasion, Mrs. O debuted a new floral frock in a bold, red rose print, accessorized with green kitten heels and chandelier earrings.
Who says the Obamas don’t support the military? The sergeant’s family surely must have appreciated Mrs. O’s efforts to properly accessorize, not to mention her debut of a new frock!

I would usually say, don’t assume conspiracy when mere incompetence will suffice, but in this case I’m not at all sure that is the case.

The US is finally stepping up to Afghanistan, the problem being they may have wasted their effort on Iraq….Obama said this was the war of necessity, a position I agree with. But now he rides the tiger he jumped on top of to get elected…moveon, and the others.
I met a US military family recently, he was a more hgung ho than her, they both serve. They have both been to Iraq and Afghanistan, her once each, him 2 x each. They are tired, just the thought of another rotation, the family interruption etc is enough.
They need to finish this thing, no half measures. They know what to do.
I asked her if the drawdown in Iraq meant a relaxation in the schedule. Her comment was, the[oliticians may think that they will be doing that, or hope, but that the reality was a one for one relplacement to Afghanistan….20,000 out of Iraq meant 20,000 to Afghanistan. Her comments, as of 3 weeks ago, are prescient.
Obama needs to stand behind this and fight the left of his own party. The US ilitary know what to do, let them do it as fast as they can….but the implication is Obama has to put the brakes on the “butter”. No guns and butter, and failure in Afghanistan carries its own significant implications.
But if you are being honest you might want to think again about how the US got so overstretched, in all areas……

There is a fair argument to be made on the “end of empire” stuff. However, if you are going to conduct a retreat there are ways to do it…and I am not saying this is the end or even a retreat is necessary…..but if you are going to do the retreat I don’t think Obama is the guy to do it.
A really brutally honest discussion needs to be had. But one thing would cover off a sudden withdrawl, that is the heads of three people, Bin Laden, Zawhiri and Mullah Omar. Get those three heads in a box, so to speak, and Obama can decalre victory and leave Afghanistan in 6 months.
But I worry he has American disease, which is that resources are inexhaustible, and that American politics is only about where those inexhaustoibel resources go. It might be the next President that has to set the limits, a very unamerican idea.
I wonder if BHO or his aids have visited the Atlas Shrugs site and watched the videos from Islamic training camps and raids. Torture – I wonder what he thinks about 10 -12 year old boys being taught to behead men before they are dead. Hacking away at their necks while their bodies jerk, and simultaneously reciting praises to Islam. They also seem to take delight in sliting the throats of young girls, after they rape them. One can only assume BHO wants to stifle the CIA’s ability to operate so they are not able to concentrate there forces on discovering his connections, where he his campaign money came from and his plans with the other Arab nations to destroy Isreal. He has already given Russia the green light to ship missles to Iran and the US is selling Iran aircraft from Boeing under the guise of assisting them with their economy.
I find it very interesting that Isreal obviously thought they would have a better chance speaking to Russia as opposed to the US by asking Russia to withold support to Iran – says much about their faith in BHO to handle the matter. Just my humble opinion.

It is logical that massive reinforcements are necessary—-due to the ROEs(Rules of Engagement) which hamper effective military action.
The Taliban/terrorists have adapted their tactics to exploit the ROEs….eg using civilians as a human shield eliminates interdiction by artillery or air-strike.
The result is a massive need for boots on the ground and the inevitable casualties.
We have evolved into a society which refuses to accept casualties and seeks the impossible goal of eliminating collateral casualties.
There is a vast difference between deliberately targeting civilians and inflicting collateral/unintended casualties…..a difference the peaceniks refuse to recognize….to further their agenda of destroying democratic/western civilization.
And no, I don’t give OBOZO the out of naivete, incompetence…..it has now evidenced as deliberate policy.
