  1. Of course, it’s gonna be GWB’s fault for going into Iraq instead of NK. Oh, and Bubba isn’t to be held responsible, because the info was still incomplete during his term.

  2. the left embrace prison camps. it’s what they would like for all who don’t share their point of view.

  3. And nobody will ever apologize for the gulags either, because communist death camps just aren’t that big a deal.
This man is apparently the only Khmer Rouge higher-up who’s ever even pretended to be sorry.

  4. this story gives the eco-hysterics wet dreams . . . if only we could do that to the skeptics . .
Dream on Al, David et al.
Dream on. Dreams are carbon free.

  5. “death camps”
You’re using that phrase incorrectly, prison camp does not equal death camp, the distinction is enormous.
But what am I saying. Since when did you ever care about getting the facts straight? Knock yourself out, Yellow Badges.

  6. In a perfect world, we’d send people like “fact check” to the “prison” camp to test his idiotic ascertion that it wouldn’t lead to his death.
That would be poetic justice for all leftard vermin.

  7. I’ve seen the left defend a lot of vile things, but this takes the cake. It really is a mental disorder.

  8. “disorder” doesn’t fit.
    Sickness. A terminal sickness.
It’s disgusting that the field that hands out the “official” labels has those minds in their ranks.
    The inmates run the asylum.

  9. Funny how the left can defend this crap when they don’t even want rapists and murderers to go to jail at home here in Canada. To call it jail in Canada is a bit of a misnomer too. Sigh.
Hypocritical to the end! You guys on the left are really that retarded.
“Do as I say, not as I do” eh?

  10. Agreed kate. arguing semantics rather than acknowledging the level of human suffering and the human depravity that caused it is to act as an enabler of the depravity.
It should be noted that,as in all atrocities like this, that it is not the act of one person alone. It is not Kim who arranges to execute people by putting pebbles in their mouths and having fellow inmates stand as close as fifteen feet to witness it. I would be all for an invasion of NK tomorrow if there was a way to do it without the deaths of a million or more south koreans.
And even one death would be used by Fact Check and his fellow travellers as evidence that such an invasion was a war crime and that those who decided to do so should be prosecuted.

  11. The left are sick, twisted, delusional and degenerate.
I mean, these are people who call anyone not a leftard evil and fascist but make jokes and downplay/deny the mass murder of millions in the leftard’s gulags. The mind boggles.

  12. “I’ve seen the left defend a lot of vile things, but this takes the cake. It really is a mental disorder.”
    Sweetie, you are the left.
That aside, requesting that you get a super important fact straight does not equal defending something. The distinction between a death camp and a prison camp is enormous, and you do have a lousy record on factual accuracy and are quite stubborn when called on it.
Holocaust historians make a distinction between concentration camps and extermination camps – one was not the same as the other. You trivialize actual death camps when you mistakenly label prison camps as death camps.
“Extermination camp (German: Vernichtungslager) and death camp (Todeslager) are usually interchangeable and specifically refer to camps whose primary function was genocide.
In a generic sense, a death camp was a concentration camp that was established for the purpose of killing prisoners delivered there. They were not intended as sites for punishing criminal actions; rather, they were intended to facilitate genocide. Historically, the most infamous death camps were the extermination camps built by Nazi Germany in occupied Poland during World War II.[3]
Nazi-German extermination camps are different from concentration camps such as Dachau and Belsen, which were mostly intended as places of incarceration and forced labor for a variety of “enemies of the state”—the Nazi label for people they deemed undesirable. In the early years of the Holocaust, the Jews were primarily sent to concentration camps, but from 1942 onward they were mostly deported to the extermination camps.
Extermination camps should also be distinguished from forced labor camps (Arbeitslager), which were set up in all German-occupied countries to exploit the labor of prisoners of various kinds, including prisoners of war. Many Jews were worked to death in these camps, but eventually the Jewish labor force, no matter how useful to the German war effort, was destined for extermination. In most Nazi camps (with the exception of POW camps for the non-Soviet soldiers and certain labor camps), there were usually very high death rates as a result of executions, starvation, disease, exhaustion, and extreme brutality; nevertheless, only the extermination camps were intended specifically for mass killing.
The distinction between extermination camps and concentration camps was recognized by Germans themselves (although not expressed in the official nomenclature of the camps”

    Mental illness indeed.

  13. Remember the Khmer Rouge. They would talk soothingly and say slitting your throat is good for the country to their victims. The left loves labour, death and “re-education” camps. Anybody remember Lenin, Stalin, Hitler and Mao.

  14. Comment by Fact Check at July 24, 2009 8:12 AM
and at other times by such intellectual giant as T.
Been indoctrinated for @ 22 years by communist cadres. 99% of population never succumbed to the brainwashing; even the communists themselves did not believe what they preached.
To see people, growing up in a free country and succumb willingly to the socialist/fascist/communist ideology boggles the mind. It is simply unbelievable.
    How is this possible?

  15. World leaders (including the Bush administration) twisted themselves into knots in an attempt to pretend the genocide in the Sudan was not in fact a genocide. They did this so that they would not be compelled to act.
Leftards do the same mental gymnastics so they don’t have to question the horrors perpetrated on the world by their “comrades.”
A general rule of thumb is that if you are starved, worked to death or killed outright, it’s a death camp. Slow or fast isn’t really the point. In fact, a quick death would be preferable to the slow torture of being worked to death on an empty stomach. You vermin leftards screech about W water boarding people then dismiss this??!!

  16. “You must work for the UN.”
And you must work for Benador Associates. You got “Yellow Badged” again on this one.
Get this through your thick skull: a prison camp is not a death camp, the distinction is enormous and you are trivializing the victims of the holocaust and the Khmer Rouge by misusing terms that you don’t understand. If you were a better read individual I suspect we might not be having this disagreement, then again you’re easily dishonest enough to get it wrong on purpose.
Oh, and mass graves in Venezuela? I’ve been there, it’s quite a wealthy country. The people elect Chavez – freely, and with verifiable paper ballots – because there isn’t a sufficiently large middle class to act as a bulwark against the poor masses.
It happens in a lot of countries, you are unwilling or unable to understand this “feature” of this thing called democracy that you support. The poor vastly outnumber the rich and therefore elect socialists who give handouts; if anything is at fault here it is democracy, a system of government which the smarter folks have less and less time for. No mass graves yet in Venezuela, nor will there be. And no death camps in North Korea.
You’re stupid. Stupid, ignorant, and dishonest.

  17. Fact Check “You’re stupid. Stupid, ignorant, and dishonest.”
Aha. And here you go – masquerading around like you have a valid point about terminology of all things when all you really want is to insult. Yes, I see that you are, indeed, from the left-wing side of the spectrum. Your last post proved it to me quite well. Thank you as any point you may have tried to make just went out the window along with your credibility. You sound like a bully to me.

  18. If the only way out for most is being beaten, starved or shot to death, I really don’t see much of a distinction.

  19. As for the mass graves in Venezuela, perhaps not yet, but give Chavez time, and they will come. Anyone well read would expect so.

  20. This is what the article said:
“Most prisoners work 12 hour days, making military uniforms, felling trees or tilling fields until they die of malnutrition-related illnesses, usually before the age of 50.”
How is this not a death camp?

  21. “The distinction between extermination camps and concentration camps was recognized by Germans themselves”
But the end result was the same at these camps. Prison camps had forced labour but the plan wasn’t to starve them and work them to death.
I realize that there is a distinction between extermination and concentration camps but I don’t have a problem with a camp that is set up to starve, freeze, and work people to death being called a death camp. No matter what Hitler, Himmler or the NDP would call it.
Really, only the left could use their Nazi history in Germany to defend North Korean death camps.

  22. Maybe Fact Check would be happier if they were called Super Happy Fun Resort Camps.
If the intended purpose of the facility is such that the prisoners will never leave alive then it is a “death camp.”

  23. fact check:
“The people elect Chavez – freely, and with verifiable paper ballots… ”
depends what your definition of “freely” is. Iranians have a similar system – are you saying that their elections are free.
As for the deathcamp descriptor. It can be argued that the entire country of NK is a death camp. And what do you think the survival rate from one of these camps is?
Arguing that venezuela s democratic or that north Korea does not engage in genocide or at least a reasonable facsimile of same is to be on the wrong side of human freedom. you are providing political cover for these fiends and their minons.

  24. The salacious and sensationalism of the above scum troll, sounds straight from an LSM outlet like reuters.
FC -a Laid off urinalist or terrorist/murderer loving stringer, would be my guess.
Can’t belive the WP is running this. But then it takes the heat of that BO guy and his blabbering mouth.
Feel that this US admin is going to amount to an unmitigated disaster that will not be resolved for generations to come. He’s a great divider, not leader and he could care less about anyone in death camps, let alone care about non-black people in America. I truly feel that he perceives them to be his ‘true’ enemies.
Man’s got a life long grudge and it’s showing.

  25. “The people elect Chavez – freely”
You lot are still crying that Bush “stole” the election. You are hopeless.

  26. Fact Check
NYT had an article of Chavez’s crime family kidnapping for ransom.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/21/world/americas/21venez.html
    La Mosquitia, Honduras
My wife has been keeping a close ear to what is happening in her native country of Honduras. Apparently there a rumour of Chavez and Zelaya mixed up in the drug cartel using La Mosquitia as a base to ship their drugs.
I remember Chavez say something like Jesus was a socialist. Apparently Jesus was a drug trafficker as well.

  27. If a professor ever declared himself a fascist he would be run out of the university on a rail, and tenure be damned. And yet many declare themselves Marxists and everything is just fine.
Marxism is responsible for some of the most atrocious human rights violations in the last century, and yet it gets a free pass for accountability. I am bewildered by this willful blindness.
To declare yourself a Marxist is to declare yourself an apologist for the murder of tens of millions of innocent lives. Canadian Marxists leave a trail of blood the follows them wherever they go.

  28. The distinction was made by Franz Stangl, the Commandant of Sobibor and later Treblinka.
Stangl said that there were only 4 death camps, the rest were work/concentration camps.
(Belzec and Majdanek were the other 2 extermination camps)
Some Germans have since seized on Stangl’s distinction, any fig leaf to cover their shame I suppose.
Stangl said that a “death camp” was one where a trainload of 20,000 people would arrive in the morning and by nightfall all of them would be dead with none separated to do any work.
Stangl became an Austrian police officer at age 23, then, after Anschluss, became Superintendent of the T-4 Euthanasia Program at the Euthanasia Institute at Schloss Hartheim where mentally and physically handicapped people were sent to be killed. The Nazis called them “useless mouths”.
The T-4 Program was expanded into Operation Reinhard, the extermination camps began to operate in 1941.
Into that Darkness, 1974, by Gitta Sereny is a book interviewing Stangl before his death.
It’s a must read for people who throw the term “death camp” around, and I mean the people on the Left specifically.
The British operated concentration camps in South Africa during the Boer War in which they killed 150,000+ Boers, Trekkers, and Voortrekkers, mostly woman and children, through starvation and privation.
The Boer War was Canada’s first occasion to send troops abroad and support the Commonwealth.
    Ain’t socialism grand?

  30. Creepiest troll yet.~ Black Mamba
Agreed. Isn’t there some sort of award for that?

  31. Now,now,gals/guys.Be easy on farce checker. He has held his farts in for so long, they have migrated to his brain, thus his pure spewing of BS.Or is he just preparing for his new job of chief propagandist for the muzzies, before they slit his infidel throat?
The lefties have moved far beyond a brain disorder. You gotta have one for that to occur.

  32. Hey Fact-Check! Did you finally get banned from the Shotgun Blog or did you just migrate over here to spread your joy to a wider audience?
Folks, this guy has been infecting the minds of people on other blogs. Pay him no mind.

  33. Fact Check- I see your point, about making distinctions, but sometimes the lines become blurred.
Some WW2 prison camps, that were basically slave labour camps, were designed to work prisoners to death. The Japanese considered prisoners non-human, so keeping them alive was not a consideration. They were simply in a holding pattern, awaiting their inevitable demise. The same could be said for some of the Nazi labour camps.
There were also many legitimate prison camps. There was a POW camp in my town, and many of the German prisoners had so much fun, they decided to stay on, after the war. There were also a couple of hangings. Some SS prisoners murdered another prisoner, for fraternizing with his captors, and were tried, and convicted. That didn’t make it a death camp, did it?
I’m thinking, the North Korean camps might be close to crossing the line, but without proof, calling them death camps is probably a bad idea.
Whenever I agree with fact check, I get the urge to start drinking again.

  34. Kate you are wasting your time. When there is money involved, its residential school survivors, when not they are students.

  35. As someone that has been to Venezuela as well when the nationalization was starting, what one hears is MSM propaganda. Pissed off investors. The problem there was with the poor people from Columbia going to the wealthier Venezuela to work with no work visa and then forced into crime to survive. Spanish reversed law puts you in jail for 20 years and maybe a trial some time during. Viva Polar beer (Canadian).

  36. Kate look up the few countries that the bankersters do not have their hooks into. P.S. the banksters have the MSM. More wars more loans. Its always about the money. As a side note, a Rothschild (French family side) was strangled or suicide. How do they decide.

  37. Next for “Fact Check” and “News Flash”: how the men in funny hats called the Shriners – being Freemasons – are out to get him.

  38. Ok, so we’ll just call them “you’ll never get out alive’ camps then.
Or heh, call them ‘hope and change’ camps. Makes no difference, they still are worked to death and/or excuted regularly, at the whim of their jailers.

  39. Goggle has some good satellite coverage of the death camps. Just enter “North Korean Gulag” then “Camp 22” or whatever.

  40. Someday, somewhere, someone will call Gitmo a death camp. Why play by those rules?
jwkozk91- The Freemasons ARE out to get you.

  41. dp,
For gitmo to be a death camp, there has to be deaths. In gitmo, there isn’t even any work and they’re gaining weight, not losing it – due to a sedintary existence.
Granted, I wouldn’t want to be there, but I’d spend 20 years in gitmo before dying in a camp in N.Korea working 12 hours a day with less-than-substistence calories.

  42. jason- I agree with your statement, but I noticed you didn’t call then “death camps”.
    And, I have proof the Masons are out to get you. They have a billboard on Hwy. 1, that reads;
2b1-ask one. There’s a phone number. I guess memberships are dwindling.

  43. People you forget Kate is a China survivor. So give her some slack. Making it into and out of China alive must have an amazing story behind it. Please tell all.

  44. dp,
lol. the masons are a bunch of old men with nothing to do and no life…
The death camps in north korea are death camps cause you don’t get fed enough to do the slave labour you do. If they fed you enough, it would be a slave camp, not a death camp.
