I watched that documentary over the weekend.
wild. gives you goosebumps.
Others have mentioned the athiest crank (more like godless communist) which sued.
Now, I am an athiest. Still though, if you have the gall to sue you just deserve an old-testiment kind of beating. Truly.
Would the resolution be enough to show the shadow of the flag they planted?
It was a wonderful moment. We were packing up house, we moved about 3 weeks later from Des Moines back Canada.
I was 5, and I remember my Dad hushing me telling me this was something important….apparently I was talkng or asking questions. I am reminded of that everytime my own son does exactly the same thing during important news.
More computing power in your cell phone than there was on the Space Capsule.
It really was a time when much seemed possible.
Great documentary, as moving as some of the films they show at the Houston Space Center. It was probably the only time that the whole world was on the same team cheering. To actually go and see the “right stuff” up close is well worth the visit if you are in the area. To check out an actual capsule up close will make you realize why they chose test pilots as astronauts..
Looks uninhabitable, even all these years later. Speaking of which, on Popular Science’s list of the “Top Ten Things You Didn’t Know About the Moon Landing”, number seven is:
“When Buzz Aldrin joined Armstrong on the surface, he had to make sure not to lock the Eagle’s door because there was no outer handle.”
Yep, that would have been one of those cases where a simple “whoops” or a “sorry!” wouldn’t quite cover it.
Hmm… that photo there, I’d say that’s what Obama will look like after the voters kick his butt all the way to the moon in 2012…
The Moon-Landing deniers have a more serious issue about their expectations or horizons for any goals in life.
We have an entire layer of a population within the Youth that have such low standards for accomplishments that they can’t believe that Humans actually had the Brains and Talents to land a capsule and Humans on a object outside of the Earth’s terrain.
This is what happens when parents let their kids live in the basement for up to 35 years old and spend hours on the Internet obsessed with Alex Jones and the Global Government conspiracy to rule the Earth and build Internment Camps to House those that don’t submit.
Just because a handfull of pathetic losers let everyone else become successful or build all the new Inventions, it doesn’t shake my faith in Humanity that we still produce great people that selflessly obsess with making the World more Just and better for the next generation of Children that deserve a future of peace and Equality.
The Roswell Alien myth from 1947 is all hinged around the modern transistor given to us by the UFO technology and used Reverse-engineering which gave us Computers and Space travel.
BUT…..the real story for transistors goes back to 1933 at Bell Labs when the Inventor was told by Bell that money was tight from the depression and Bell was focused on products that currently made money to stay afloat. Mr.Shockley resigned to the idea of building his transistor but kept his Papers for a future developement, then WW2 consumed the Industries with Government projects , but in 1945-46 it was Shockley and 2 other men that finally finished the “transfer-Resistor” known as the Trans-Istor that was also shrunk down by the Crystaline material to replace the Vacuum Tubes seen in older radios and TV sets.
Sadly, it took until December 1947 for a National media outlet to post a picture of the 3-creators for the new “Transistor” which changed technology and Electronic for ever by the small compact size and durability.
It was 14 years in the making from the original idea , but the Conspiracy nutbars obsessed with thinking that Humans are idiots and that we owe everything to Aliens -that also built the Pyramids- have filled the media and Internet with tripe about Global Governments and UFO’s because THEY have no goals or creativity which drives them to embrace the Roswell Myth while being too lazy to do their own research for the facts.
God help us older canadians that will be on a pension and retired while these people will be our lifeline to pay taxes and create jobs to pay for our health care and Pension cheques.
My only question about the Moon is for all the Crators and pock marks evenly spread over the surface.
Since the Moon’s *Rotation is equal to its *Revolution around the Earth we always have the same side of the Orb facing us while the dark Side Of The Moon faces outer space.
This begs the question for how the Space debris hit our side of the Moon when Earth’s Gravity would have sucked the object into it , Plus…the rocks or meteors appear to have hit the moon from the Zenith as a direct impact and not a skipping impact as we see on earth for shooting Stars.
The Moon must have either been elsewhere and then the Earth pulled it in to create the current Orbit, or the Moon had Rotated faster at some point to expose all the sufaces to Space debris that hit it , AND then it slowed down from the Earth’s pull on it and locked it in place with a 28 day Cycle and cause our Tides as the Moons pull lifts the Oceans up to draw water away from elsewhere.
Maybe those basement dwelling geeks should ask that question to NASA and not focus on IF people did walk on the Moon.
Next we’ll hear about the Michael Jackson death being a Murder by the CIA and NASA because of the Moonwalk link and the 40th Anniversary whic also saw Walter Cronkite mysteriously die right after Jackson and before June 20th 2009.
Obviously another George Bush plan to invade the Middle east for the Oil as a false flag operation to focus on the Moon and an Alien invation.

It’s a nice shot. The idiot must have 50 pounds, 6 inches and 40 years on Buzz and he still rocked him back with one shot.
an open letter to Mr Neil Armstrong, July 20 of any year you want to choose.
Mr Armstrong:
It pleases me very very much that you do not have a military rank before your name.
after all the fighter pilot hotshots, it was decided cooler heads and a true team player should pilot this first attempt. A civilian, not a military type first on the moon. 100,000,000,000 people who have lived on this planet and not a military type as fate would have it to put that first boot print on our satellite.
Your driving ambition was to assist those who fly the planes you tested. You were a pioneer far early in your career. So thank ou Mr Armstrong, for those quick wits, steely nerves and abiding emphasis on group cooperation and accom\plishment because THAT is the means by which it happened at a time when I was just the right age to most appreciate it.
And may you be here for the 50th, 60th anniversaries and beyond. “Live long and prosper” Neil. I hope one day you will decide to widely share your innermost memories of the event, but it will be yours alone to do that. I salute you and congratulate you and thank you for indeed a job well done.

LOL !!!
kaTHOCK.
aaaaaand Buzz lands on the target yet again. LOL !!!!
Well, first off, I beat you on the link to Buzz’s shot.
Secondly? I hope you know where you can stick your opinion of the military. The very organization that taught Armstrong how to fly.
Looks like Buzz still has the “Right Stuff.”

well gee whiz aj, see the double quote after the youtube link? thats blog protocol when ya copy and paste. then again Buzz beat us all to the punch eh?
and on ‘attitudes’ towards the military? ummm, who PAYS for the military? civilians. I just find it vastly more appropriate a civilian was the pilot of the mission instead of hearkening back to the cold war when militarization of space was all the rage.
furthermore, what is your opinion on the CVs of ISS occupants? space exploration is about SCIENCE. ergo best left up to the civilians who spend more time in a lab than on a parade ground.
Neil Armstrong surpassed his military teachers. He was a test pilot for military aircraft; early in his career HE was the one teaching THEM how to fly the latest and greatest.
I remember the moment well. I was 19 and in discussing the event with a friend, he believed that Columbus’ discovery of America was a bigger deal than the moon landing. I thought he was totally wrong.
Today I look back at the arguments we used to have on the subject and I’m thinking his opinion might have more merit than I first gave it. In 1492 Columbus had about as much technology as exists in a gravity-fed pen. He still managed to find his way to some land.
Everything is relative, I guess. Columbus made the most of what he had to work with and so did NASA.
I look back to 40 years ago today and given the magnitude of the achievement I’m left thinking that we have done so little with the promise of what happened a couple of generations ago.
My grandmother lived to see the first cars right up to seeing a man walk on the moon. She couldn’t be convinced that it was actually happening. She just laughed and said “C’est pas vrais. C’est une farce”.
I always think of EdHarris when NeilArmstrongs name pops up,, Curse that TomWolfe for historical revisionism!
file under the for what its worth file….
People talk about where they were when big things happen….
I was born April 22nd 1970. I was most likely conceived during the most famous walk.
(adopted, never met my Mother to confirm)
At any rate, a cool story to tell.
I think some people forget that it was not just the landing we saw on television , we saw the lunar module disengage and fly to the moon and we saw the re-docking of the lunar module. I remember they were so short of fuel they were worried the lunar module would not fire up to leave the moon’s surface or have enough for the re-docking.
I watched it all and all our neighbors were in our family room watching as well.
thanks Mel Brooks

new spaceballs.
reg dunlop – why would Ed Harris make you think of Neil Armstrong? Harris played the character of John Glenn in The Right Stuff – no?
holy sh#t!
I got the two mixed up. thanks.
